Ahh, good ol' Sony, never forget:

Does Windows 10 have an in-built key logger that it transmits back to Microsoft HQ? Or do you mean the telemetry information that you can opt out of? Or do you mean the advertisement data you can opt out of? You’ll need to clarify and provide some very precise examples if you’re attempting to hand wave spying on customers as “everyone’s doing it”.Windows 10 is spyware then.
There's a better version of that picture...
that that this is just a template policy Sony uses for all of their games.
With that said, its poorly worded here and they probably should makes some changes, otherwise it becomes open to misinterpretation.
Can't complain about this if you use Windows 10 which is factory spyware. It has a built in keylogger, called cortana.

I seriously wonder how much more data Sony collects on PlayStation users, since they can't really see what's going. They have been trying to build an AI assistant, so I'm sure they have been bleeding PS users of as much data as they can get.Reminds me of rootkit Sony back in the day.
Imagine what they are digging into on your PlayStation since you can't see it happen like this.

Data is data though. I wouldn't want it leaving my possession period. At least on PC when a new program is installed, it'll ask whether to allow or deny (default for me is no, unless I state otherwise. I know it my mic or camera is ever being used, etc.Honestly I don’t give 2 shits on a console.
My PC has work documents, I sign into my bank account, etc.
But this article is a lie though so lol
Shitty on Sony part, but you can simply block any access to the interwebs. Sorry Sony, you can't steal my data from me. Shame on you.
*Proceeds to load save game*
Every folder and file related to the game, has no access the the porn-ternet.Good guy Sony, saving your codes for you since 2021.
Cant they get a lawsuit on their backs because of this? They can steal passwords etc.
So you really don't think Sony could save the data in a crypted file and send it back when you reconnect to the net?
They don't specify which games or which types of games will use these forms of data collection, thus the current misunderstanding. They should have worded in a way that makes clear this is for online experiences and don't apply to single player modes. What's to misinterpret? The language is actually pretty clear; 2 forms of data collection - limited stuff that is absolutely necessary for an online game, and a secondary opt-outable group that tracks in-game telemetry for heuristics and marketing.
I wish Win10 was half as transparent LOL.
Reminds me of sending pictures of asses and dicks to google when they keep asking me to verify my age
Pretty sure he'd have to cut it off and count the rings like a tree, to figure out the users age.You do know you could just have typed in your age right? They don't measure your age with your tiny weenie.
in europe we all have big schlongs (not france)You do know you could just have typed in your age right? They don't measure your age with your tiny weenie.
Probably just as much as Microsoft? They gave W10 away for free for a reason. Not defending this, it's freaking disgusting, but Windows is spyware. You can opt out of a lot of it and use power shell to completely remove Cortana but stock Windows is the definition of straight up spyware and even with all of that it still likes to phone home. Quite sad after all of their Scroogled ads.I seriously wonder how much more data Sony collects on PlayStation users, since they can't really see what's going. Unless of course they still want to collect all that data even in their single player games.
Also, while its still shitty, win10 does allow to disable all forms of data collection.
Yeah it's awful. I just don't watch age-locked content since they introduced it, I don't even bother with the plug-ins to get around it.in europe we all have big schlongs (not france)
so we have to use an ID
Microsoft gives me the options to opt out, Sony on the other hand does not, and you have absolutely no say so to what data goes out or who Sony shares this data with. Bringing up Microsoft is a case of whataboutism, and deflection of the topic at hand. So in other words Sony is worse than Microsoft here, as you don't have a say so in the matter. You can't disable it. Trying to blame other companies does not help with Sony harvesting data of it's users and tracking what they do.Probably just as much as Microsoft? Would that even be relevant? if the Sony exe isn’t receiving input commands once you tab out of focus, how is it recording themNot a personal attack, but do you frequently start playing Sony games and then tab out and start watching porn? Because that's the only time this would be relevant. I would guess no, but your tag has me curious.
nope, SP supposedly offline games shouldn't enforce user non-game data collection regardless of what they want it for, and thats the end of it.From a legal standpoint I guess its non-specific because the liable party is them as the receivers/holders of the data. Essentially the program is the tracking cookie so its locality is less significant than who's putting it there.
And there's plenty of reason to use telemetry in single-player games in order to get empirical data on user behaviours and preferences. So long as what is being forwarded is exclusively from within the program that seems fine, I'm less happy about them broadening the scope to things like seeing what other games you have installed so as to target marketing at you... but that's the internet generally these days.
The thing I'd stress most is that despite the more paranoiac readings of such things, the simple reality is that scraping too much data is just as big a liability for the collector as it is the user. At the end of the day Sony doesn't want your passwords and private stuff, its got no value to them as a business. Storing all that metadata is just more work to keep, and more importantly keep secure. Because if not, they are looking at severe legal penalty.
I know right? Refusing to send anything to googleYeah it's awful. I just don't watch age-locked content since they introduced it, I don't even bother with the plug-ins to get around it.

The only thing here that should be made clear(lol) is whether those mechanisms were in fact implemented in Days Gone or not.
Sorry my dude going into the settings and opting out isn't good enough.Microsoft gives me the options to opt out, Sony on the other hand does not, and you have absolutely no say so to what data goes out or who Sony shares this data with. You mean the video i posted? What it offers isn't an opt-out, but a "limited" option that still collects stuff that shouldn't be necessary for a single player game. That isn't what's happening here though, at least in terms of the EULA shown in the vid at the top of the thread.
It explicitly offers an opt-out.
The data-sharing aspect of Days Gone comes in the form of the challenge modes which have online ranking and leader boards, so its not like the first part is without relevance.
It's even funnier that Sony fans are completely fine with letting Sony slurp up all your data, and being completely fine/complacent. Microsoft didn't get data from me, and I sure as hell won't let Sony spyware do the same. Not sure why anyone would be ok with this on a single player game, with no way to opt out.Sorry my dude going into the settings and opting out isn't good enough.
Not blaming other companies just laughing at Windows/Steam users complaining about spyware. It's comical.
They didn't? Well I hope that is true. Windows takes a crap ton of tweaking to stop it from collecting data. Like you have to use the Ameliorated edition. Or you block their IP requests using a DNS sinkhole like Pi-Hole.Microsoft didn't get data from me
This isn't the first time either, there was data collection on horizon as well. Sony better get with the times and change this. Especially before they bring all their games to PC.
It's the same thing when you set up your PS5: limited or full data collection are your only options. I would imagine since Sony fully controls the PS5 that they can collect data deeper and easier than on a 3rd party platform like windows.I noticed when I first loaded the game there was no option to opt out just limited or full data collection, pretty lame.
Exactly, which doesn't make sense why people are trying to make a comparison. It's the same thing when you set up your PS5: limited or full data collection are your only options. "But not Sony" my ass... They do sell your information just fyi, just not person data like your CC number for instance. Let's not pretend Sony is innocent here, as all tech companies collect data. It's just that some places give you an option, and some don't. Specifically with their games, you can't opt out of data collection. Some games check out some of your in-game actions in the game to fill some game usage statistics for stuff like if some game area is too dificult because people dies there more than expected, if some game area is too boring because people quits there, if certain weapon is too strong or weak, if they need to put more ammo in certain area, if need to tone down some enemy type, where the people stops playing the game, etc. Basically aggregated data from all users, taken annonimously that later they use to rebalance and improve this game, or to take note for another future game.
Some other games check their own files to make sure they aren't damaged or to prevent piracy.
It doesn't mean they want to sell your personal info to marketing companies, goverments and intelligence agencies. As we know as a fact, companies like Microsoft, Google, Apple or Facebook and more do this for the USA agencies (+ other countries) via their OS apps and devices, but not Sony.
And well, social media apps (not gaming companies) also get your info and sell it to marketing companies to target better their ads.
There's a known issues update on Steam which includes this:This is big pile of nothing. IGN has screwed the pooch.
Then...You guys should stop using Windows, iOS, Android then, along with plenty of apps.
Didn't you read the last sentence of that screenshot? It says "PLEASE NOT THAT SONY.COM DOES NOT SELL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION"."But not Sony" my ass... They do sell your information just fyi, just not person data like your CC number for instance. Let's not pretend Sony is innocent here, as all tech companies collect data. It's just that some places give you an option, and some don't. Specifically with their games, you can't opt out of data collection.
Did you not read the quote that you are replying to? I literally said just that. Not personal data like CC info, but Sony is definitely selling your data, and you have no say so in the matter.Didn't you read the last sentence of that screenshot? It says "PLEASE NOT THAT SONY.COM DOES NOT SELL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION".
And yes, all websites collect data. If you create/use an user account on that website or app, make purchases there, or post comments and so on they need to store that info somehwere to make the website/apps work. Plus storing cookies and taking some announimous website/app statistics to keep improving it. All companies do that, including Sony.
It doesn't mean they will provide your personal it to the CIA and other agencies from the USA and other countries, and introduce on purpose security holes for these agencies to spy you or to sell your personal info marketing agencies, that is another thing that I mentioned that we know for sure that companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google or Facebook do in their devices, apps and operative systems. We saw a list of companies that agreeded that and Sony wasn't one of them.
