There is a reason I am not responding to them. There is no discussion worth to be had with any console warrior.
Coming from someone that enjoyed Babylons Fall, I thank you for sparing me.

Freyrs character model was proof that no one cared about him. He looks so out of place in a game with incredible looking characters.Yep. I wouldn't mind the slower pace and interacting more with these characters if it amounted to something and if they were well written. Freyr is just some dude bro. Freya turned into a complex character in the first to a whiny, mewling moron who quickly shifts attitudes like she suddenly became bi-polar. Heimdall was just a school bully from any CW show.
The *ONLY* character I felt like had actual growth was Sindri. The only saving grace of this whole narrative.
If we had another game to expand upon these characters, to see them grow and have them feel three dimensional - I think it would have made a world of difference. But clearly these writers don't know what they were doing.
God of War Ragnarok is pretty close to the actual myths/backgrounds of the Norse Mythology you do realize that?So was Thor 3, how accurate was that to Norse Mythology?
Yep. Rag has amazing models and animations - the art team out did themselves.Freyrs character model was proof that no one cared about him. He looks so out of place in a game with incredible looking characters.
Thor/Odin had great concepts, but they utterly failed to live up to any of it. I liked Thor's introduction. Soft-spoken, but violent. Odin was very much a mafioso-style character - but they never went anywhere with it. Complete and utter anti-climax with both.I think they did a great job with Thor and even Odin. They just mucked up the end game. Thor and Odin's relationship couldve been used as a what if scenario of what wouldve happened if kratos was old Kratos, but he just drops the hammer and lets Odin stab him. Just makes no sense. Him teaming up with kratos would probably be way too Marvel, but then gain Freya teaming up with Kratos is also very Marvel.
Freya should have been much like Sindri. Being her own entity, finding a way to take down Odin herself. She should never have teamed up with Kratos until the very end during Ragnarok itself, and only as a means to killing/taking down Odin. And while I like Freya, I agree that her turn into a buddy was too sudden. Maybe they shouldve saved her for the post game as a new character who actually fucking uses her valkryie form. But id still rather have Sigrun even if i have to sit through Mimir flirting with her. That wouldve been a hilarious dynamic. Not gonna lie.
I think this is an unfortunate consequence of their ridiculous one shot gimmick neccessity. You dont get to see Thor and his wife alone, or Thor or Odin alone. Loki pretty much has to be there. The worst example is when Thor tries to kill Loki and Loki escapes thanks to Sindri's get out of jail card. Well, good for loki but we dont get to see the consequences of Thor and his wife contradicting Odin. We dont get to see how Odin responds to it.Yep. I grew up with alcoholic parents, but the way they handled the Sif/Thor/Thrud story was painful and utterly worthless. Maybe if we could have seen this over another 20-30 hours as Loki learns to adapt to Asgardian society - then maybe the pay off could have been worth it.

and Actually help me fight instead of standing there looking stupid.Having Freya as a companion is the worst. Lady can you just shut the fuck up about your troubled past for five minutes.
I noticed this yesterday. Shes actually far more helpful than Loki during combat, but most of the times she just stands there. Im like didnt you see those dual beserker and valkryie bitches relentlessly attacking us? Arent you their QUEEN?and Actually help me fight instead of standing there looking stupid.

Again, this is not a one dimensional story like GOW3 where Gods show up one at a time only to be killed off after a boss fight with Kratos. This is supposed to be an adult version of the story and they treat it like that until they dont.
And yes, 100% agreed on Freya. Shouldve been an uneasy alliance throughout the game. Instead the become besties after an hour. Hell, i wouldve loved a Mass Effect 2 loyalty quest to go revive Sigrun. Or to go reunite the Elves. Loki is literally carrying like 6 giants in his pockets that he could quickly feed into any animal and have it become a giant immediately. There is your army. You dont need Sutr. Give one giant soul to Sigrun. A giant Sigrun. Odin doesnt stand a chance.
Im still struggling to see the point of him going to Jotenheim. Why did he need to go there if he already knew he was a champion? Why was he given the giant souls if he does nothing with them. Why didnt they use the wolf to go into Asgard. Kill Odin and walk out.
Slow? No. It's literally within 1 to 1.5 hours of story telling. Maybe a little longer if you are incredibly slow. Vanaheim has little to nothing to explore during the linear section where you are trying to help her.Freya turns pretty slowly and culminates upon killing nidhoggr, didn't see anything wrong with that.

She can forgive him, but immediately turn into a sidekick?Freya turns pretty slowly and culminates upon killing nidhoggr, didn't see anything wrong with that.
?? Loki inserts a Soul into the Snake
You can play these what if games all day with any kind of mythology, it's kinda ridiculous lol
She can forgive him, but immediately turn into a sidekick?
Maybe if she ended up becoming his side post game then fine. Good character moment.
And yes, Loki turns one snake into a serpent and decides to not use it again? It's just as big a plot hole as not using Fernier to create realm tears into Odin's basement and sending Sigrun in there with Kratos.
She didnt need to be a sidekick though. I mean after she's freed and can finally travel all the realms, she decides to latch on to another man? lolThey had to turn her into a side kick because after her cruse was freed they go after Odin

I guess. What did you thinking of the finale?Ummm...yes, because he and Loki are the only ones powerful enough to take on Odin
I guess. What did you thinking of the finale?
Director explains why he didnt want Kratos to weild Mjolnir in the game. His reasoning? it wouldve been too easy, too expected, not surprising because everyone wanted it in the game. Umm what? So you chose the spear which was already in the PSP game? WTF is this reasoning. Apparently people in the studio were upset about it too.
And this is why you dont change directors. Not everyone is smart.
Pretty much the first question they ask him.
We have a term for this. Its called being a pussyWith all due respect , I'll have to disagree with your reasoning for the most part.
Would it be cool to wield Mjonir and just wreck stuff? Yes, absolutely. However, normally Kratos would kill the gods and then take their equipment. This is the new Kratos, the new one who doesn't rage and tries to solve issues in a different manner.
Honestly leviathan axe mostly functions exactly like Mjolnir except instead of electric power, it has ice power. We have a term for this. Its called being a pussy
Jokes aside, there are many, many ways they could have let you use Mjolnir without having him kill Thor. Thor does from Atreus. Odin Kills Thor. Thor kills himself. Thrud kills Thor. Brock and Sindri give you a way to steal Mjolnir (since they are the ones who created the weapon).
It is a failure on the game's part to not let you use the single most important weapon in Norse pantheon history. Even if it was only for a very small segment.
I think that not having Thor's hammer be the weapon that kills Odin was a missed opportunity. Should have been an end-boss only weapon IMHO
Mjolnir looks like a boring fucking weapon. A stumpy fucking hammer which has the same recall power as the axe. Redundant and lame.We have a term for this. Its called being a pussy

A new spear weapon is way flashier and more functional. It is NOT the same moveset as the PSP game
I didn’t mind freya initially, but exploring with her and her very on the nose melodramatic dialogue in the post game is straight up terrible. Almost like another team wrote this stuff, like cringey bad.
Also I hope in the next one we get more gigantic bosses like from the og games - this all we got was the wolf
Also when you beat the final berserker kratos and memir have a lil moment tooBoth times Atreus hugged Kratos, I borderline teared up . Like, FINALLY !!! Both of you , show the love !!!
Not to brag but it took me like 100 tries to beat Gna.
I agree the ending fight was a letdown on terms of bombastic set piece action from its predecessor’s but still my GOTY.I thought Ragnarok was a very cool set piece
I don't mind Thor dying, I felt bad for him during the game and was basically Odin's whipping boy. His death was the catalyst for Thrud to finally turn against Odin. The game had to set up ways in which Odin was actually evil, Brok + Thor's death reinforced that
But I agree with you that Ragnarok should have gotten more attention from a boss fight standpoint. Missed opportunity for world serpent + Surtr + Fenrir + some crazy version of Odin flying on some big creature
But overall I still came away very satisfied with the ending. Brok's death hit hard for sure
Here you go again. Both times Atreus hugged Kratos, I borderline teared up . Like, FINALLY !!! Both of you , show the love !!!
I finally beat Gna, she has some nasty moves which gives you little time to react to.
She has two version of each moves, one version you can block/perry and one version you can’t and she loves to mix those up to fuck you up.Yeah this BEECH will just spam that jump move until she gets you >.>
My guess is, based on the information that SMS is working on several different things, that theres gonna be a dlc and/or spinoff where more questions will be answered. So now that's everything has settled in on me. Is it just me who is still intrigued by that damn mask and rift? They have to go back to that in an expansion or next game.
Go back to the prison. Theres an relic lying around. Probably the one you missed.I DID IT! Felt so good.
Weird though the last 2 trophies are get all shields and relics... figured I would've gotten em all completing all the maps
Lol that's probably it, I only crafted what I wanted. Thanks!Go back to the prison. Theres an relic lying around. Probably the one you missed.
And did you craft all shields?
Didnt Sindri and Brock made that weapon for Thor? Wouldve been cool if Sindri used that to destroy Odin's soul ball.I think that not having Thor's hammer be the weapon that kills Odin was a missed opportunity. Should have been an end-boss only weapon IMHO
I thought the beserker king fight was tough, but she is so fast, and will constantly switch between attacks that start out the same. Excellent boss fight with an even better ending.Yeah this BEECH will just spam that jump move until she gets you >.>
Yep I agree.Alright. I just posted a largely glowing review of the game in the main OT, but now it's time to trash the game because my goodness, the game's story just falls part in the final 30 minutes or so. I hate everything about it. I love this game, and hate how it ended.
I actually like the final level. Compared to HFW's big finale battle, this wasnt just a cutscene. They had elves, giants, and valkyries on screen fighting while you traversed a war torn area with an epic soundtrack. So far so good. Then Thor unceremoniously sends the serpent back in time and im like wait, that was it? Then Thor's second fight is basically a simple valkyrie/beserker sequence. No epic multi-stage fight. No appearances from giants like that Wolf who went MIA in the middle of it all. No fucking Sigrun after they spent the entire game talking about her. There are three fucking phases to that boss fight and you cant have one where you fight alongside sigrun??
Why the fuck is the Queen of the Valkyries who finally got her wings back isnt fighting like a Valkyries. Shes more useless than Loki. We fight multiple beserkers and valkyries many time in the game. At least give her an ability to turn into one mid battle so we can tag team bitches. Very disappointing.
And no Thor hammer. GTFO. His daughter gets it? Why? And Odin just kills him with one spear attack? What is this nonsense? He's fucking Thor. At least let me have him as a companion post game. I hate everything about what they did to Thor, by far my favorite character in the game. He lit up the opening and brought so much charisma and screen presence to every scene and they just focused on Odin who was just underwhelming by the end. This is a family soap opera so go ahead and give Thor that moment with his father instead of his father just offing him randomly.
And after 4.5 years of dev time. After refusing to update the engine. Or refusing to spend the time going to PS5, they still phoned in the final two fights. Come on. That cant happen. No Sutr giant fight? Really? No giant fight aside from that one in a kitchen? really? Why have like 5 open world areas in the game when you already have like 45 hours of it. Just cut one of them and focus on the ending. Naughty Dog used to say that their big train setpieces would be the first one they would start and the last one they would finish. They should have started making the finale back in 2018 especially since they chose not to change any gameplay mechanics, level design, engine or graphics. It's simply unforgivable.
What sucks is that 99.99% of the game is phenomenal. Great setpieces. Great boss fights. Great variety especially in enemy design. Phenomenal combat. Some excellent one shot takes. But all of it falls part at the very end.
Im also not a fan of how Kratos kept apologizing to Loki. No Loki was a cunt, dont say sorry to spoiled brats you dumb fucking millennials. Dont be sorry, be better. Take your own fucking advice.
P.S A better ending would've been Kratos and Loki you know talking to Thor and getting him on their side. They spent the whole game humanizing Thor clearly hinting at his conflict with Odin and yet they do nothing with it. Hell, I want to play as Thor. That game would be amazing. Him killing giants. Fighting Freya in the crater or did they create the crater? Fuck exploration. Give me a 10 hour balls to the wall Giant Killing assassination spree from Thor until Freya checks him. Just flying around the map at insane speeds throwing people into mountains. Give me that game.
I don't know about that, Freya and Odin are very different. Thor is fine, Heimdall is different. But the worst part is them ruining Ragnarok, that's such a big part of the mythology.God of War Ragnarok is pretty close to the actual myths/backgrounds of the Norse Mythology you do realize that?
Many of the gods are portrayed exactly as they are in the actual Myths with a bit of leeway. But 90% of it is exact same.
They did change some key detail, I could be completely wrong here but in mythology world serpent, Fenrir and even Hel suppose to be child of Loki but in the game that’s not the case at all.God of War Ragnarok is pretty close to the actual myths/backgrounds of the Norse Mythology you do realize that?

Atreus was just a plot device to have an excuse to turn Kratos into "I am a good daddy now, no more violence" imo. Wasted.I wish Atreus was never made into Loki. I don't see the point. I don't think it added anything special to the story. They could get around the story in other ways.
That character would be great as a grown man with Thor and Odin in Asgard, he could deliver some cool twists and turns and he is a huge part of the dynamics of Norse mythology and of Thor's stories, something that is absent from this game since they wanted Atreus to be Loki.
