Xbox has day one exclusives. Biggest differentiator
But.. these newer PS5 games won’t be in the service any time soon, even Returnal will be over a year old when added (assuming it’s added when the revamped service launches). The number doesn't matter. I bet most people subscribe to play certain games. At the moment the flow of releases isn't good enough to continuously subscribe. Which is why Microsoft want to eventually release a game every quarter. Sony will have the same problem. Your not going to bring in alot of new subscribers just for old games. It's the newer games that will draw in like returnal and other newer ps5 games.
That actually isn’t the case for PS+, which is why they’ve priced it the way they have. Their yearly pricing has always been their most popular. This is a silly argument. The vast majority of people are going to get these as monthly. Not buy a yearly thing.
And anyway. It’s not really as you can find deals for gamepass ultimate if you are smart…..

Are people going to skip all new releases and wait a year or more to be added to a service? I doubt it, I wouldn’t wait a year to play FH5 or Starfield just so I can play it through a sub.
I also disagree that the flow of releases isn’t good enough to stay subbed but that’s a personal preference. I pay GP monthly and there hasn’t been a month where I would see nothing good out of the 15-20 games added.
Just because you could, doesn't mean you should applies to 90% of the comments here.
End of the day: who honestly cares which subscription is "better"? I personally own 2 series x's and I am more than extatic with GPU and the prospect of getting all Bethesda/activision/first party games day 1. Does that give me a reason to childishly defend gamepass? No, because I'm not 13 years old.
If I ever get a PS5 I'm 100% subbing to ps+ for the simple fact that legacy ps4/5 titles will have gone to the service by then. The service sounds great and I'm sure it's going to be a great succes for Sony. Now I would go out of my way to buy a PS5 if first party games were to be day 1 on the service, but I can understand that Sony doesn't have the deep pockets nor the desire to make that move. Their first party games are selling like hotcakes, so who can blame them?
TLR both services are pro consumer, can't we just enjoy the games for a change?
How long till gamepass puts out a yearly rate?
I mean, it’s a step in the right direction compared to PSNow, but it’s not like they have announced any game list or anything. They mention some games available at launch but nothing more recent than a year (and they don’t mention anything about Ratchet afaik).but these newer games will still bring in more subscribers than much older games. most people still dont have a PS5 and havent played games like ratchet or returnal yet. if sony can add more to that, the better. obviously we know sony wont be launching day 1 so theres no point going to that discussion. newer 3rd party and 1st party games that have released within the last year will be the main draw.
I'd rather pay a relatively cheap subscription for the product directly than encourage more microtransactions.
Check againNone?
I don't know why people would want to pay annually anyway, even with a small savings. I like going month to month because I can cancel at any time if I no longer need the service. Right now I have stocked up on Game Pass due to the conversion, but once that ends I'll go month to month.I don't think they will, the only way to get a year at once is gold to GPU conversion.

Thank you.

LOL they left out day 1 1P games on GP.
Exclusives day one tho, amirite?
Why haven't IGN mentioned you can buy 3 years of Gold and convert it to gamepass ultimate for £1. Or have MS put a stop to it very recently?
Taking into account the APPALLING state of some of those games, they will be better off wait for the creators to fix the broken shit with the game thsn play on day 1Are people going to skip all new releases and wait a year or more to be added to a service?
50%.

They do? It’s just NES/SNES games or N64 if you pay for the expansion. It’s definitely a catalogue.
can't we just enjoy the games for a change?
Can't help someone who doesn't know how to calculate day1 games.

Not enough good ps3 systems. Plus cloud is easier for them, to reach pc audience.I have a Fat PS3 that plays PS1 and PS2 games, i bought it for that purpose.
Is this less desirable than having to stream PS1 and PS2 games? If so, why?
You are right, just saw it. It's gonna be good for those that never bought those games.Check again

There’s tons of speculation about live service games launching day 1, 3rd party games day 1 etc but that’s based on nothing tangible. I’m curious about April games for PSNow and if it will start snowing more effort.
Why do you think they are most popular? Ask yourself that question. Are you seriously comparing a subscription to a gaming service to buying a house or a car? Don't be @MrFunSocks dude. Just don't.

Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo don't host the servers for third party games though. The fee for the server is in the price of the game. This is a stupid take.
They aren't charging you for your Internet connection. They're charging you for using their servers. And those servers do not come cheap. Go ask any server mod (who is involved in actually technically running it).
Nothing is truly free. The sooner you realise this; the better.

The same game cost should apply to first party titles as well.
Example: I've bought Monster Hunter Rise twice in the last year. On Switch I had to pay to access Capcoms server. On PC I did not. The server fee is covered in the cost of the same. Nintendo charges you because they have a monopoly on the hardware.
The cost of the server is always factored into the price of the game though. They aren't going to lose money selling a game. Some games charge a fee, like MMOs.
- Sometimes they do.
- The online shops and saves need servers. The latter isn't a huge amount of data, but it is still a cost.
- There are still the first party games, and no, the cost of the server are not factored into the game price.
First of all, your math is wrong. Second of all, it is small savings. Maybe not for you, but for me it is.

I understand you like to defend these guys.

But how is what I said wrong?
First of all, your math is wrong.
Please show the math. I want to see how you got to 40%.You attempted to move the discussion on the cost difference of the services to some nonsense about calculating day one. By definition, that's moving the goal posts.

Behave. There’s a difference between a one off payment of 40 quid v 120 quid.
Monthly is manageable, even if you end up paying more for the year.
Or are we meant to be pretending we are all rich gamers with megabucks disposable income?
Maybe you need read the 2 posts first.
The first guy said said savings.
The other guy tried to to make fun of it.
Aside of gamepass pc being part of the service, the day 1 makes more savings.
Next time, read the replay before you try to jump on like a knight.
Clearly not, as all three console makers now charge for most online play, including for their first-party titles. The cost of the server is always factored into the price of the game though. They aren't going to lose money selling a game. Some games charge a fee, like MMOs.
You're still just paying for your Internet that you already pay for.
On saves, it's nice they don't allow you to back them up, strong arming you into paying for their "service".
Wow, facts. That a new word coming from you.I read all of it. You went off course because you didn't like the facts being presented.
They do it because they can. They have a monopoly on the hardware. You have no choice.Clearly not, as all three console makers now charge for most online play, including for their first-party titles.
Exceptions are for the likes of Fortnite, where Epic pick up the tab.
