Guys keep it civil and keep the shitposting to an acceptable degree. You're getting a permaban in my heart if you come in to this thread to say Nintendo games are for kids.

This thread idea comes from a conversation with OutrageousFacts OutrageousFacts and it's interesting to know where the community stands with this one. Nintendo isn't launching a new hardware this year, so this year is about a continuation of the Switch experience. Meanwhile, Sony and MS are offering brand new exciting hardware which will fuel our gaming hobby for the next 5-7 years.

However, and this is the catch, launch window titles are traditionally not that great. So there's not that much of a rush for actual software. Let's be honest here, we know the BOTW sequel is going to be sheer quality and a must play. There won't be anything as good as BOTW 2 in the launch window of both the PS5 and the SEX. The same question could be pondered about TLOU2 launching alongside the Switch U if things were reversed.

So it's like holiday and BOTW2 and the PS5/SEX launches the exact same day, you go to the store and you look at them. The new hardware and the new software you wanted. Which one do you grab first? I know you're a big boy and you could grab both (please do not answer that), but even then, which one gets you more excited to spend solid hours with it?
That's a lot of text for a baby

well I would have to split my playtime between Halo and Zelda then.

it would be a 50/50 situation where I would play them equally much I guess.
which is sadly not an option on your poll

Games > hardware.

I liked BotW, but not as much as many. If Horizon 2 launches same date (dejavu), I'd likely play that first. Between Spider-Man and BotW 2, I'll play BotW 2.

Probably the next gen consoles.
I still haven't finished BotW (although I have enjoyed what I've played) and it'll be hard to resist that new hardware hype.

Potentially having a new Spider-Man and/or Halo game at launch is gonna mean that there's games I want to play on the new hardware day one as well.

Because nobody plays next to a stopwatch to play equal amounts of time, Mr Smartypants.

BotW2, XSeX games are compat with my One X or on PC of which I just built a new one. And PS5 can wait, unless there is a truly killer day 1 app

Botw2 but only because I'm not getting a Ps5 until at least a year in.
I got a Ps4 a few months before Bloodborne.

BOTW2 will be next year for the 35th anniversary, but if it came out, I'd play that over anything. Sony launch games tend to suck and Halo is one of those things that will forever be in my backlog because there is no way I could play through a half dozen games to get caught up.

With PS5 coming this fall, Spiderman, Assassins Creed Valhalla, Watchdogs 3, what ever the new Call Of Duty is and many more.........BoTW2 going to need to take a seat back.

Well I don't care about the nextgen consoles that have no games I am interested to play. Which will cost me probably 500-600 pineapples.

And I like Zelda. A lot. And will only at most cost me 80 cherries.

So the answer seems pretty clear.

Oh shit, is this game still happening? I wonder how much they reworked it, you could see them fumbling that concept from a mile away.

Agreed. I almost forget it existed for a minute lol

I enjoy them trying new things so I'm hype to see how it turns out. I enjoy the series and London is a setting not used often. I want to see just how much of the PS5 they are using.

Both. I don't know if BotW2 will pull the thing the original did, where I pretty much didn't play anything else for months, though. But an attempt will be made.

As special as a new Zelda is, a new console is as well. There's really nothing like leaping into new technology, and it happens less and less often these days.

are you serious?

bought both Wii console back in 2009 and BotW in 2017 due to all the hype and found out both to be really over hyped, boring, outdated and shallow

ask me when I'm giving Nintendo another chance

Yeah, I have a soft spot for the series as well. The problem with Legion is that the game would really suck if they half assed it which, being Ubisoft we're talking about, was a given. I would have preferred a more traditional WD games set in London. Maybe new hardware will push them into delivering a wholesome experience.

I would choose BOTW2. At this point both parties launch titles (or whatever is shown so far) is not as intriguing.

But in real life though - since there's no law that I can only get BOTW2 or a next gen console - I would buy both.

So you only care about graphics? Because your posting doesn't make sense otherwise.

Btw. it's totally fine to be more hyped for nextgen consoles. I just find your reasons weak/nonsensical. You "already know" that BotW2 is gonna have an interactive world? So you're tired of interactive worlds? Like ... wat :D
Not a single Zelda-game has been merely iterative, there's always significant new gameplay mechanics. Meanwhile I haven't seen any PS5/Series X-game that offers meaningful new gameplay. And that's what it's about, new experiences, right? If it was only about graphics, this topic wouldn' t even make sense. So that's why I kept asking you.
Psh. To each his/her own. Being blown by next gen is a new wonderful experience. That’s why a lot people are buying new consoles. May be weak for you but for others it’s not. To explore new areas and being wowed by it. Just standing still and just enjoying the view is euphoric and soothing.. then you do photomode.

I am more excited with the new R&C than BOtW 2. Saw the gameplay and I was simply blown away with a lot of stuff happening. The ability to go to other areas instantaneously and I am curious on the dualsense feature hyping by the devs so this could be a futuristic new experience. I cannot wait to play and experience it.

And there’s Spider-man no BOTW game will make me not choose Spider-Man. Traversing is a very fun experience for me. There are few games that I rarely use fast travel. Spider-Man is one and Days gone is the other.
The only time I used fast travel in Spider-man is because of a trophy related thing.
Having Miles as a protagonist will be a new experience with his different skillset and exclusive new set of suits and own story line.

There’s also Kena, yes it’s coming to the PS4 but I would rather play it on PS5.

BotW was the most dull and boring Zelda I've played. It was a sandbox proof of concept sold as a Zelda game.
Put some trampolines and stars in it and you could have sold it as a Mario game. The most dull and boring Mario game ever made though.

Ignoring the fact that I did not enjoy BOTW enough to buy a sequel, I don't understand how I couldn't prioritize both? Gamers today are way to into their console wars bullshit. Odds are, I end up buying both next gen consoles, plus a ps5 for my wife, along with BOTW2 just to give it a spin since it's first party and at least will be quality.

Assume 2 pornstars come in your house to fuck you. You can do them the same time for all intents and purposes, but you're inevitably going to dick one of them first. This is the exercise here. BOTW 2 is guaranteed to be great (for those who enjoyed the first one, which is the majority), next gen hardware is also going to be great but software is always lacking in the launch window. Is the new hardware allure enough to focus on it more than a landmark game on an already existing console?

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Gamers should be happy with situation that includes a Breath of the Wild 2, Zelda is so important to Nintendo as Halo is to Microsoft.

Kind of a strange either/or. They're not really in the same category, and they certainly won't be in the same price bracket. I guess you can only play one at a time, but they're not mutually exclusive.

Personally, I haven't seen anything from the next gen consoles that I just have to play day one. Good gameplay doesn't have an expiration date, and I have plenty of good games in my library to tide me over. I may end up waiting a few months for the next gen libraries to build, regardless of BotW or any other game launch.

Oh you mean every 2D zelda game after ALTTP and before Link between Worlds? Or every 3D Zelda game after Ocarina of Time and before BotW?

And i don't need my reasons to align with yours, but your reason for thinking my reasoning is nonsensical is, in itself, nonsensical. "Only care about graphics"? You act as if the visuals of BotW is not only integral to the experience....but also not intrinsically linked to the experience itself.

LOD, physics, draw distance, geometry density, CPU load, GPU load.......these are all directly linked to BotW and what the game was capable of (and what its sequel can expand upon). "Amazing cel-shaded artstyle" is a high point for zelda, but "procedural foliage and volumetric lighting" is "just graphics" for a game like HZD?

It's "AMAZING ATTENTION TO DETAIL" when Link's clothes get wet from rain, or when fire is procedural in BotW, but it's "JUST GRAPHICS" when Noctis & Bros are fully AI-controlled, or fire/ice/lightning affects the environment and atmosphere, or monsters have jiggle physics applied to individual muscle groups in FFXV?

"ONLY CARE ABOUT GRAPHICS" is the most nonsensical criticism in gaming, and something I almost always hear only hear from Nintendo fans.

There was a ton of "MEANINGFUL" new gameplay shown in both XSX and PS5...you just don't care about it.

I care about BotW, but I also care about other stuff too. That's the difference lol

I mean, that just depends if you are a huge Zelda fan in the first place.

But to answer, RE8 looks fantastic but besides it im not hyped enough to spend many dollars on either ps5 or xbox yet, if Switch were to come with Metroid 5, Bayonetta 3 and BotW2, hypothetically it would be a very easy choice.

Knowing Ninty, we'll get new hardware and that will be a launch title for it -- it'll be a system seller. We won't see BotW2 for a while. Nintendo would be nuts to try to push a game like that during a competitor hardware launch, but they kind of ignore what the other gaming companies are doing and do their own thing, so you can never be too certain with them.

Zelda, Switch is the best console and handheld with PC so no room for anything else. Sony has some good exclusives but that now some of this are on pc/coming to PC so no need to rush. Xbox too, but every game coming to PC. And I don't need to buy new tv (also I don't buy tv's that doestn't support 3d so no new tv's for me ever again)

BotW is one of the best games of the generation. I remember playing it on the Wii U, beating it, then buying a Switch to play through it again. And THEN playing it on PC last year. BotW was the reason I couldn't get into Horizon: Zero Dawn because I wanted to be able to move around/interact with my environment like I could in BotW. It'd make no difference to me as I have no intention on buying either console on release, but I'd be a happy camper if they released it that soon.

XSX comes first with Halo Infinite, then PS5. I couldn’t care less about the fooking gimmick Nintendo is releasing starting from the Wii. I loved N64, I loved GC, after that just poor piece of hardware from Nintendo, gimmick after gimmick. I hate you Nintendo. Just fock you.
ok, kidding aside, I hate Nintendo as they stopped producing powerful Home Consoles. I don’t care about Nintendo anymore.
