Captain Marvel star Lashana Lynch’s role in Bond 25 will reportedly have audiences dropping their popcorn in shock. Lashana’s role has been kept underwraps but sources close to the production have now claimed that Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s rewrite of the script will see the 31-year-old be introduced to audiences as 007. Now that is a moment we can’t wait to see. James Bond fans will know that the spy retired at the end of Spectre and as Bond 25 opens he will be living a life of luxury in Jamaica. However soon we will return to MI6 in London and the insider reveals that ‘there is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says “come in 007”, and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman’.

With Bond in retirement, it makes sense for the agency to pass on his codename to another agent, and we are here for it being a woman.

Considering the Craig films are mostly about him quitting, being told to quit, or going AWOL the chances of him just saddling back up at the end in his final turn as Bond are basically 0.

They'll recast and reboot Bond for future movies like they always do and I doubt it'll actually be a black woman.

Everything I’m hearing about this film so far sounds like a train wreck. The movie is behind schedule, had to move the release, Daniel Craig is apparently an asshole on set and broke his ankle filming, the director allegedly came to set once hours late because he was allegedly playing PlayStation, and now this nonsense.

In the case of Bond, they’re saying there will never be a Jane Bond, but then they’re doing the next best thing and gender/race flipping the moniker 007, which is synonymous with James Bond. That they didn’t just make a spin-off with a different number betrays their underlying intention of repealing and replacing “problematic” identities, i.e. white males.

Same, I though Skyfall was pretty good, though it had its flaws. Spectre was not as bad as people make it out to be, but I think they definitely did not use Christoph Waltz to his maximum potential (or Ralph Fiennes as the new M, for that matter).
