Point Blank did surprisingly okay, nice turnaround from Dig Dug. Yoshizawa must be pleased, hopefully Trion Cube does well too and we'll see Klonoa DS next year.

MV2 totally bombed though, the first must've left a bad taste. Ookami seems to have stalled too, I wonder if the game will even be able to match Viewtiful Joe's 500k+ worldwide now?

I didn't look at his post since I thought it was the early numbers and was missing Xbox and GBA.

4-5 weeks to pass 10 million.

The regular.

GBASP after 19 weeks: 1.19M
DSL after 19 weeks: 2.79M
Time for GBASP to reach 2.79M: 51 weeks

"GBA after SP" after 19 weeks: 305K
"DS after DSL" after 19 weeks: 456K
Time for "GBA after SP" to reach 456K: 33 weeks

DS after 19 weeks: 2.05M
PSP after 19 weeks: 1.20M
GBM after 19 weeks: 438K

Visually

Next week DS Lite should pass what GBASP did in its first full year. GBASP's 2 year total is 5.12 million, which at this rate DSL shouldn't have trouble reaching by the end of the year. It should be noted, though, that by the end of that 2 year time frame GBASP had to start competing with the original DS, so its holiday sales were a bit neutered. On GBASP's 94th week, the week before DS launched, it reached 4.53 million.

Thanks Joshua!

In retrospect, it felt like a long time between the launches of the GBASP and DS -- now, it seems much shorter for me. While the Lite will overtake the SP (and probably combined with the micro), the original DS will never overtake the original GBA.

Japan just officially failed at life.

Xenosaga and Brain Training both outsold...

1.) The best portable fighting game ever made
2.) Portable Megaman awesome

There's now no disputing their horribleness. They failed at life definitively. Indefensible.
people want Tekken on PS2 not PSP, that's the problem...

people want to be able to play VS mode against other people, possibly with arcade sticks...

I disagree, me and my friend are both getting Tekken for PSP and we'll be able to go VS.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.

People also bought connectivity cables to play Four Swords on the GCN.

GameFront has the first day sales trends of the games released on 13th July:

1.) Persona 3 (PS2, Atlus)
2.) Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 13 (PS2, Konami)
3.) LocoRoco (PSP, Sony)
4.) Quiz Kidou Senshi Gundam: Monsenshi DX (PSP, Bandai Namco)
5.) Project Hacker: Kakusei (NDS, Nintendo).

Poor Project Hacker! No sales figures yet, but it doesn't bode well. Can it avoid the disappointing sales Magical Vacation received? Hope so...

I expect JPPY13 to outsell P3, in fact, I don't think P3 will handle 100k in its first week. We'll see :)

Why do more people care about the Japanese weekly sales than the U.S monthly sales?

because one week in japan = 1 month in the us (in sales quantity) basically

What are you talking about, those NPD threads are some of the biggest on GAF.

If it sold better than Naruto RPG 3 on its first day, it's not that dissapointing I think.

Time for 1st days sales and comparision purposes!

From sinobi:

- Persona 3
Despite being 3rd big RPG in a row for PS2, better than expected start. Although its numbers are very near Xenosaga 3 (90k start) P3 has a very better digestibility.
 ▼ Megami Ibunroku Persona 96.09.20 PS 201,147 62,661 32,154 391,556 51.37 %
 ▼ Persona 2: Tsumi 99.06.24 PS 170,577 37,500 18,950 274,804 62.07 %
 ▼ Persona 2: Batsu 00.06.29 PS 119,484 19,607 8,460 200,103 59.71 %
It seems it'll be between the 2 persona 2 versions and not match the first one or P2 combined

- LocoRoco / Gundam Trivial thing
It seems SCEJ is quite persistent with LocoRoco CMs xd
But the start is on par with Gundam Trivial.

- Project Hacker
Low shipments and low expectations, this one, loco roco and gundam trivial hurt each other.

- bit generations
<10k for all of them I think (I can't understand most of this one :/)

Don't know what this has to do with PSP and Tekken but if you had actually played FF:CC/Four Swords with connectivity you would have realized how cool it was!

Ah damn...really lowers the chance of these being translated. But hey, we still got Electroplankton, so you never know. I'm surprised the bit generations games are so low. Thought the Japanese would snap them up because of their collectible boxes.

Go Go Persona!

Haha. Naruto outsells Loco Roco. PSP fails again.

Too bad it wasn't on the DS. Would've sold more and been cheaper to make (
and more fun to play. Touch screen FTW!
).

Persona 3 - :)
Loco Roco - :/ (I still think it is one of those sacred cows that GAF overhypes, but it does look fun and the art style is neat)

Have to love the over-zealous fanboys that laugh when great original games bomb just because it's on the system they "hate" for some odd-ball reason.

PSP must have insulted a lot of Internet surfer's mothers.

But please, continue the virtual circle jerk because the nth Brain Training game sold another million.

Only if you agree to buy a handheld with a future.

I actually have both and think it's just a much of a travesty when games like PW, Trauma Center, etc get over looked for Brain Training 8, pet/virtual chore sims, etc.
