I actually have both and think it's just a much of a travesty when games like PW, Trauma Center, etc get over looked for Brain Training 8, pet/virtual chore sims, etc.

The neat thing is, all the games you listed are getting sequels. YAY DS!

I wasn't expecting Project Hacker to sell bucketloads. I think it won't crack 100k lifetime, but it'll probably make Red a profit and maybe fund another Ninty collaboration.

Naruto RPG3 might not launch as well as its predecessor, but it'll probably match its lifetime.

Loco Roco la bomba makes me a sad panda. But honestly, there was no way it could compete against porn on a Memory Stick.

No, it just means I have less good games to play.
You are right. This fall's lineup is nothing but pet sims and brain quizzes. Nintendo is destroying the industry.

Have to love the over-zealous fanboys that laugh when great original games bomb just because it's on the system they "hate" for some odd-ball reason.

PSP must have insulted a lot of Internet surfer's mothers.

But please, continue the virtual circle jerk because the nth Brain Training game sold another million.

Or when New Super Mario Bros crossed the 2 millions. :p
Mono clones doing damage control is awesome, it makes the thread more entertaining.

Disappointing, yet expected numbers for LocoRoco. Though, look at positive side. LocoRoco sold more on it's first day out than Rockman Rockman and Irregular Hunter X's first week out in Japan.

Posters coming over from GameFAQs that use terms like damage control that they clearly have no idea what the term means is even more awesome.

How is me actually saying Loco Roco bombed a form of damage control?

Damage control would be me saying well 12k isn't too bad, it's already half of Megaman sales! Or something to that effect.

He wasn't talking about you, but your mind went there anyway. What does that tell you?

Spend some time researching the "quoting" system, and what quotes means.

Maybe HowStuffWorks has an article on the subject.

Why are people disappointed or shocked by LocoRoco's sales?

Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, at the start of the generation, chose to target their own unique consumer groups. Nintendo wants the young and general audience; Sony wants the mature and "jock gamers"; Microsoft aimed their sights on the hardcore gamers.

Sony creating a game like LocoRoco in the first place is as laughable as Nintendo temporarily acquiring the Resident Evil franchise and Microsoft putting money into this Viva La Coocoo Racha game that's being released by Rare. All three companies had made their bed and now they've got to sleep in it. So when games like LocoRoco, coming from mature-games central Sony, fail sales-wise, I can only chuckle. Just like I chuckled at Nintendo's lame attempts to penetrate the mature audience. Just like I'm going to laugh when Viva La Rasa bombs for Microsoft/Rare.

I wasn't even thinking about LocoRoco.
You are the one probably coming from GameFaqs because i was never a member over there.
Damage control is a very common term used in here, i don't get what's your point in saying that.
I was refering to you mentioning Brain Training and failing at mentioning New Super Mario Bros, probably you are one of the bunch that thinks every DS game is a non-game.
Mono clones always downplay the DS.

Hopefully Project Hacker will end up getting more sales.
At least it ended up with more than Kaitou Theif, I believe (even though they're very different).
It's more of a success than I was hoping, but still a bomb.
And that does seem exceptionally low for Naruto RPG 3.
I blame the fillers.
And Loco Roco has bombed in Europe and Japan now, hopefully there's still a chance for it to do well in the US.

And that's damage control how? Think you're looking for NGG.

As far as thinking every DS game is a "non-game" deerrrrrppppp... I have a DS and love games like PW, TC, Kirby, and have enjoyed the "classic Nintendo franchises" like NSMB, MKDS, etc.

That doesn't prove anything, all the DS haters seem to claim they have one. See Mono - Tabris.

Japanese have never been to hot for the ENTIRE metroid franchise, but hunters is sticking around for some unknown reason..... online multiplayer?

It's on the DS. That's why it's still there.

Super Metroid was the last Metroid game that sold well in Japan (though Fusion might've hit over 100k)

I-I guess I've been hating on the PSP and its complete lack of a library so much, I've lost sight of what's really important. :(

Weird... I don't hate the DS, and don't bash it.

However, I am an anti-fan of the non-game genre, and the general Nintendo ass-kissing from the Net.

About loco roco:

1. In the same way that the typical japanese ds consumer doesnt really give two shits about otaku-centric gaming and goes for the pet simulators and test taking software, psp owners dont give two shits about original software for the system, and its main demographic are people who like buying prettier versions of franchises associated with the playstation brand (hot shots, tekken, monster hunter etc)

2. Loco roco isnt very fun. Much like katamari and dk jungle beat, it has a wierd control scheme. Unlike those games, the mechanics that result from the control scheme arent particuarly satisfying. Its a beautiful game with a great soundtrack yet little substance.

3. Its on the psp. In japan.

edit: and yes I have played loco roco

Define "mature". If you're talking about games that adults play, Nintendo reaches that market better than anyone with Brain Age. (And their core franchises really since lots of old school Nintendo fans are in their 20-30s.) If you're talking about games like Resident Evil, may I remind you that RE4 sold ~1.5 million on GC?

Why do more people care about the Japanese weekly sales than the U.S monthly sales?
They come more than 4 times as frequently. And the performance of DS and some of its games is more interesting than any US sales from the last year.

Maybe LocoRoco will do a lot better the week after when the PSP bundle is released?
It's coming bundled, but the bundle and the standalone game aren't hitting the same day?

Are you a fan of the Sony ass-kissing ? i bet you are.
I personally think the DS praising isn't bad at all, and i think that most people do it because they want Nintendo to succeed and or are enjoying what Nintendo is putting out.
I think this is not something against the PSP, but a lot of sonybots seem to get defensive about the subject,a "graphically inferior" system is selling better and come trolling the DS in threads. That is annoying , IMO.
