My local Yodobashi did a raffle today.
DELWaENUQAETWfa.jpg:large

200 units. If only they had enough for 1400 people+

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
There will be a lot of pissed customers once Splatoon 2 hits...ouch Nintendo.

I wonder if there are people who have participated in every raffle for their store and still not got the Switch yet. I feel sad thinking about this imaginary person.

I'm already anticipating all the Splatoon spin-offs.

Splatoon SRPG needs to happen.
I can see the spinoffs now

Splatoon Sports- Developed by Next Level Games, 5 different sports to play that mix different sports with the shooting and ink/squid mechanic of Splatoon. Splatoon versions of Rugby, Skateboarding, Volleyball, Street Hockey, and Basketball. Stages designed to take advantage of shooting and platforming mechanics of Splatoon.

Splatoon Rhythm Action RPG- Starring Callie, Marie, Agent 3, Agent 4, Pearl and Marina as playable characters. Gameplay is Ouendan x Theatrhythm x Persona. Story is perhaps a few notches more serious and complex than a Mario RPG but not much more. More so just expands on Splatoon lore. Story is about the Pop Idols taking on undercover missions to fight against DJ Octavio and his army of Octoling musicians. Overall, a light hearted game that doesn't take itself too seriously. It is about a 15-20 hour game.

Super Mario Sunshine: Splatoon Showdown- Mario x Splatoon 3D platformer by EAD Tokyo. 3D platformer that feature big, open levels designed for both Inkling's and Mario's movesets. Mario is equipped with the Fludd while the Inklings have their ink weapons. You can switch back and forth between Mario and Inkling as their unique skills can help traverse the level, unlock different things and earn shine sprites. Setting- Mario, Peach, Toadsworth, Captain Toad and others return to Delfino island on vacation. On the way there they encounter a weird storm and even see a glimpse of DJ Octavio. They crash land on Delfino and encounter Octolings polluting the place with ink. Turns out that Delfino Island and the surrounding islands resembling a crab and turtle are taken over by pollution as well. This time a Boy and Girl Inkling have been wrongfully jailed but Mario, Peach and Toadsworth get them out. Mario, Peach and the two Inklings are playable. Three islands in the game, each have their own hub world. From the hub world, you can travel to 4 or 5 different levels. In the hub world all playable characters are accessible but in the regular levels you can only bring Mario or Peach equipped with FLUDD and one of the Inklings. While Inklings and Mario characters control similarly in terms or platforming and shooting mechanics. Mario characters are more acrobatic and Fludd has different functionalities. Meanwhile Inklings squid/ink ability is a major advantage as well. Levels are not as large as Odyssey but are still significantly larger than Sunshine's levels. Isle Delfino brings back significantly updated Delfino Plaza, Bianco Hills, Ricco Harbor, Pinna Park, Noki Bay and Corona Mountain. Each island has island boutiques that allow you to change outfits and color if you are an inkling. While the game is skewed predominantly to Sunshine and Mario locale there is still a good amount of enemies/Splatoon NPCS that appear.

I'd buy all of these in a heart beat.

Total Software Comparison

2017 had an improvement on hardware, but software is still the lowest ever. Can Splatoon 2 and Dragon Quest XI reverse this trend?

I would think a oversaturation of Splatoon would be a bad idea.

Let the other studios make their games that are separate from Splatoon.

Leg-o-Meter June 2017 Edition

We're now half-way through 2017. If a game is going to top the chart, it's only going to be one already released since there are not enough weeks left for this year. My money's on GTAV, as Pokémon should drop in a few months with US and UM. Maybe Super Mario Maker can hold, but GTAV will keep outselling it outside holidays weeks.

It's quite interesting that even though Splatoon 2 is closer than Dragon Quest XI, ads inside and outside stores about the latter are bigger. Sofmap, for example, is showing PS4 version on screens.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

I mean DQ is the biggest launch this year, Splatoons ad can target like max 1.5m current and potential Switch owners for this months. With marketing DQXI you are dressing +20m users...

Definitely is! I think it was a great decision launching one week later than Splatoon.

PS4 only 30k ahead PS3.

This will fun to watch when PS4 closes holidays.

with DQXI and MH5, I'd say that the PS4, strong enough to sustain the comparison with the PS3 despite the home market being thinner than last gen in Japan, will take the lead easily in terms of LTD

It will be interesting to get YSO's prediction next week for Splatoon 2. It could be anywhere from 500k to 1000k depending on shipment.

I wish Switch wasn't supply constrained, i really want to see what Splatoon 2 could do without such a limited userbase.

Splatoon 1 was doing like 15k a week for a looooong time even on Wii U, imagine what it could do on a successful platform.

Swith barely has 1 million console install base
I know splatoon is popular and will sell a lot but...isn't it impossible to have a HUGE debut considering the actual switch situation?

Do you think that the currently installed userbase isn't mostly composed by Nintendo fans, and thus is interested in Splatoon 2 ?
Userbase will limit Splatoon 2 FW, that's for sure, and it depends on what you consider as huge but it's fair to say it will have a bigger debut than most games releasing this year, and comparatively to Splatoon 1.

Depends on how many of those early adopters were buying the system for Splatoon 2.

Summer break students will be piss finding Switch to play Splatoon 2.

And they will turn their head to DQXI, yay.

Of course I was talking about FW
I was referring in particular to the post in this page talking about 500k/1 million

With 1 million install base and limited supply also for the launch (going with the reliable rumor from the usual blog guy) I would say those are impossible numbers

I think that the actual situation will limit the debut A LOT compared to some "crazy" (no offense) expectations

We could see a 400k debut and people would still be disappointed confusing a general wide appeal "à la DQ" with the factual constraints splatoon will launch with

Its very unlikely that Splatoon2 will have a 90+ attach rate. It will not happen, unless Nintendo ships several 100.000 new consoles with the game.

I wonder how big of a shipment Nintendo has prepared for Splatoon 2. My guess is around 33% of all Switch owners will buy the game on launch, considering most are Nintendo fans and the first game has become a phenomenon (so I'd like to compare it to the 33% attach rate of MK8D at release); the rest depends on the number of new owners. Are we talking about 100k or more?

Hardware sales were 75k (25k up from 50k) in the week of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's release + Golden Week, which was kind of disappointing to me. So I have no idea what to guess on how 'big' Nintendo's big shipment for Splatoon 2 actually is. I think it's going to disappoint.

I'm thinking Nintendo will have 100k Splatoon 2 bundles at launch. So those sales plus around 30% of Switch owners to buy it (prior to launch Switch will be around 1.1m) for a total of around 430-450k for Splatoon 2.

Anything less than 100k will be a very disappointing hardware supply tbh, and concerning.

Yes, that's what I expect, too.
It'll be interesting to see how many units they'll ship in the weeks after. I hope it'll hold at least 40k (and I'm conservative with this number) until MHXX releases.

Might as well wait for the actual sales #s rather than treating YSO predictions as gospel. Here are some sales #s from gamedatalibrary for FFX, X-2, and XII.

PS2 Final Fantasy X [All Versions] 1.749.737 3.019.003 Square 7/19/2001
PS2 Final Fantasy XII [All Versions] 1.840.397 2.464.679 Square Enix 3/16/2006
PS2 Final Fantasy X-2 [All Versions] 1.472.914 2.320.182 Square 3/13/2003

FFX-2 sold nearly as much as FFXII? Wow.

Sounds about right.

It's crazy to think the Switch could probably sell 750k+ during Splatoon 2 week if the stock was there.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

IIRC 38% of Switch owners bought MK 8 at launch- I can't imagine that number would be lower for Splatoon 2.

I mean yes better wait for the actual sales but YSO usually isn't that much off so FFXII remaster isn't going to launch anywhere near FFX numbers.

There is currently 6 different options on Amazon for Splatoon 2:
Physical - 3rd in rankings
Digital - 11th in rankings
Switch Bundle - sold out
Splatoon 2 + key chain
Splatoon 2 + Pro Controller + amiibo
Splatoon 2 + Card Case + Bag

It has over 800 pts on COMG ahead of either version of DQXI

It has constantly been in the top 3 for pre-orders in other chains for months, behind DQXI which is expected to launch at around 2-2.5 million combined(
hopefully this turns out to underestimate DQXI
)

Expecting 33% attach rate for the launch is very pessimistic - it's the type of crazy prediction people accuse me of making for expecting over 80% attachment rate in 2017

If we agree that the userbase should be around 1200k by the time Splatoon 2 launches, then I don't see a launch under 600k units.
