Do we have an updated LTD for Media Create?

Famitsu has the game at 77k LTD. I think PowerPro should easily be able to beat that. In fact, I think it should be able to at least outsell the worst selling version of the latest entry (I believe that's the PS3 version?).

While I agree it's a bit late, I don't think it should matter much. As long as the game is good, at least. Definitely won't push hardware, that's for sure.

If they are smart, they will add that Diamond no Ace success mode just like on smartphone, then they are guaranteed for huge money lol. Power Pro success mode is the best of all.^^

Thanks horuhe. That's a... modest week ._.

Haven't seen any sign of Project Diva X HD doing half of what it did on PS Vita, Street Fighter V will probably look like a smash hit compared to KOF 14, No Man's Sky will do 35 or 40K first week then drop out of the top 20, and I suppose Federation Force and Sengoku Otome will fight for the glorious rank 15.

So much for trying to appeal to the Japanese market.

Having played through the entire thing, its almost certainly not made for such a thing beyond a very fast cursory glance. Good as the game is in my opinion, its not really made for any market as its not enough like its namesake but also not free enough from it to strike out in any meaningful way. It feels (and, well is) like a game that would have belonged on the DS as an experimental title for team shooters.

Basically its a product from about ~10 years ago.

Lol. I am bad at betting here.T_T No Man Sky that high?O_O I guess Japan don't care about the bad review outside.

Yukimura is being milked to death by both Koei and Capcom lol. Please move to Mitsuhide or someone here. Enough of Glorifying Yukimura there.T_T

Actually I thought Federation Force started as DSi-ware.
I honestly think if this was released while DS was so hot it might have been received much better.

Yes its a revived DSi project.

So it really was. Thanks for the confirmation.

Basically its a product from about ~10 years ago.
I don't want to dwell on this game too much, but I was pretty much thinking this. It's (still) a DS game basically. A modern mech shooter would probably have a RPG like ranking system and customisable mech parts and some other things I can't think of right now.

I mean, Street Fighter is following on from a game which sold 150k for the vanilla version; KoF from a game that didn't even sell half of that. I feel expectations from publishers are a bit different. At least I hope so:

OT: Man, Basara and Miku bombas huh.

Hmm. So will 3DS pass PSP (the first one)?

A while back we seemed sure it wouldnt. But I dunno, assuming its successor doesn't arrive to soon with the NX, its looking like 3DS could leg it passed PSP depending on where PSP ended.

[3DS] Metroid Prime: Federation Force - Less than 10%

It seems like a difficult game to order too many copies of, considering nothing indicated that there was demand for it. It has the power to make Gaist Crusher look like Monster Hunter. I'm curious to know the shipment.

Who is "we"? The 3DS has already outsold the PSP and I don't think many people doubted it would. The 3DS hasn't stopped being a success since August 2011.

01./00. [PS4] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 173.537 / NEW <87,70%>
02./00. [PS3] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 76.186 / NEW <86,18%>

So it means that the shipment was 197.875 for PS4 and 88.403 for PS3 which makes for a total shipment of 286.278, in line with was expected regarding a <300k shipment.

If we look a Tales' 2nd week

02./01. [PS3] Tales of Xillia # <RPG> (Bandai Namco) {2011.09.08} (¥8.379) - 47.297 / 572.902 (-91%)
04./01. [PS3] Tales of Xillia 2 # <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.11.01} (¥8.380) - 34.789 / 399.228 (-90%)
03./01. [PS3] Tales of Zestiria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2015.01.22} (¥8.715) - 29.487 / 370.377 (-91%)

... It's not gonna be good as usual, however I do buy that some fans may have been burnt by Zestiria and with Berseria having a good reception it could have a softer drop.
But let's be real, it's not gonna have a big impact and at the very best instead of the usual 90% drop we may have something between 85-90%

So combined that would make
1st week
01./00. [PS4/PS3] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 249.723 / NEW <87,23%>

2nd week 85% drop
01./00. [PS4/PS3] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 37.458 / 287.181 <100,31%>

Yep, the 85% doesn't strike me as realistic at all as it would imply that retailers would basically need a second (small) shipment right now, and if so we would've probably heard of the game being out of stock in some shops.

So let's go with more cautious expectations

2nd week 87% drop
01./00. [PS4/PS3] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 32.464 / 282.187 <98,57%>

2nd week 90% drop
01./00. [PS4/PS3] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 24.972 / 274.695 <95,95%>

A 25-32k 2nd week seems likely, the latter being not too bad of a drop by Tales standards (but horrible for every other game bar Jojo ASB), I don't think we've heard of the game hitting bomba bins (yet?) or even having price drop at that point so first shipment seems to be fine, for now let's not get ahead of ourselves and talk about second shipment but at least it seems Tales stopped burning retailers with Berseria which in itself is already a not so bad news.

So with a PS3/PS4 split staying at the same level and an average of what we could expect that would give.

2nd week
00./00. [PS4] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 20.000 / 193.537 <97,80%> (-88%)
00./00. [PS3] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 8.500 / 84.686 <95,79%> (-88%)

Regarding digital, as it's a first for the series and RPG aren't usually high on the digital front I think we should expect an additional digital ratio for the month around 6-10% for the PS4 SKU and 4-7% for PS3 (did it get a digital release on PS3 ?).

A good comparison would be Star Ocean V which had an additional digital ratio of 8.85% for its first month on PS4 and 5.88% on PS3, Tales of is probably targeting a similar demographic so its ratio should be close to that (my guts tell me slightly below but don't ask me why).

So for August which will contain the game's first and second week and with the trend/prediction above.

August digital sales

00./00. [PS4] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 15.500 / NEW
00./00. [PS3] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 4.200 / NEW

All in all
August retail and digital

00./00. [PS4/PS3] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 278.223 / NEW <97,19%>

00./00. [PS4/PS3] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 19.700 / NEW

Retail+Digital combined

00./00. [PS4] Tales of Berseria <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.08.18} (¥8.200) - 297.923 / NEW <97,19%>

300k+ is a lock retail+digital, now we'll have to see if it can reach that at retail alone.
Decline from Zestiria is still there which is worrying but it may be a bit softer than expected at first.

Sorry for the very lenthy post lol, I somehow felt like doing this

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Hmm... didn't think of that. It's true it could be another F2P title.

Teaser website was opened today, but there's absolutely nothing indicating it's a retail or digital title.

In fact, there's basically nothing in there.

https://www.konami.com/pawa/heroes/

Yeah, that's true as well. It could be another F2P title on 3DS from Konami (btw, IIRC the Yu-Gi-Oh one passed 500,000 downloads recently). If it's a retail title, instead, again, I wonder what this could mean for the series on Nintendo consoles, if it's really the Power Pro Kun successor.

Metroid 3DS will be number one. Well I wish that would be so, I hope it does do well in Japan, almost 50% of the people I play with online are from Japan. Hope it is a good sign.

Ah, yes, very surprised that a Vita version of Valkyria comes up so suddenly. Eh, intrigued to see how it looks on it, honestly.

It's very interesting to see a publisher back away from publishing a PS4 exclusive in light of recent industry trends.

Might be reading into it too much though.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Not surprising - there isnt much incentive to go platform exclusive if the games can run on multiple systems as well. Sony doesnt seem to be too invested/interested in exclusive Japanese 3rd party deals anyway since they get the games anyway.

I expect < 200k LTD combined. Possibly < 150k.

Me too here. I feel the new battle system is going to alienate quite a number of the hardcore fans there but they will still give the game some chance first as this is a new Valkyria title after quite some time.

Good analysis Fisico! I suspect that being the first Tales sold digital would counteract the good word of mouth so I'm still expecting a 90% drop (retail) for second week just in line with previous Tales of titles.

Anyway, let's see if the game can reach at least 350.000 (retail+digital) when all is said and done :)

Well I'd have to imagine that even if they weren't making a high spec game it required quite a bit of adjustment to fit Vita tech specs. Unless they weirdly developed with Vita's limitations in mind from the beginning.

Touhou Project on PlayStation New Title Presentation set for September 2

Mediascape will host a Touhou Project New Title Presentation event for PlayStation titles on September 2 at 20:00 JST.

The presentation will feature a collaborative title from Team Shanghai Alice and Twilight Frontier, as well as Touhou Project-related title presentations from representatives of each circle participating in the “Play, Doujin!” project (the name of the initiative to bring Touhou Project games to PlayStation platforms).

Dragon Quest XI doesn't sound like it's coming out anytime soon: http://gematsu.com/2016/08/dragon-quest-xi-casino-spell-restoration

As far as development progress goes, Dragon Quest XI‘s scenario has been completed in its entirety, and right now they’re implementing maps and scenarios and such into the game, which are said to be at the stage where you can get an impression of them, though the details are still being filled out.

Both Horii and Square Enix’s Yosuke Saito had a five-to-six-hour business meeting yesterday, and while the check of an episode took three hours, various other ideas came into discussion.

These checks involved the response speed, which they carried out in the 3DS version’s 3D mode, and once the specifications are solidified, the same will be applied to the 3DS version’s 2D mode and the PlayStation 4 version. It also seems like they did battle checks for the PlayStation 4 version.

I do not think adding a Vita version to Valkyria will result in a noticeable increase in sales. And the lateness of the announcement increases the chances that the port will not be optimized well; alarm bells for any hardcore gamer in Japan who's been burned by badly performing Vita games in the past.

It just looked like a desperation move to get domestic sales at any cost. Don't think it will work though, unless someone can come up with a previous example of a game adding a version near the end of development that helped significantly boost its sales.

While it got announced today and was not scheduled at first it's not like they must have began development of the PSV version yesterday, Mediavision also released a few games on Vita so they should at least already have knowledge which will help them.

I do agree with the desperate attempt of getting domestic sales though.

It doesn't sound like it but that phrasing is relatively vague and with how development works that could mean anywhere from a few months to a few years needed.

I can't imagine they want to release a 3DS game in 2018.

I'm not expecting it in 2018, but I'm definitely not expecting it to hit this fiscal year.
