Interesting.

Sonic sales in MD are indeed very disappointing.

If someone can translate all the names, would be nice.

Mario Kart Double Dash - 784,103
Mario Kart: Super Circuit - 709,263 (didn't this end up selling closer to 900K?)
Mario Kart 64 - 1,239,738 (also wasn't this like 1.7m)
Super Mario Kart - 3,524,172

Metroid Zero Mission - 58,546
Metroid Prime - 86,816
Metroid Fusion - 154,862
Super Metroid - 508,698
Metroid 2 (GB) - 102,550

Those are just some (you can look up the Japanese name on wikipedia if you just look up the English name). The platform and the series (b/c of the previous post) make it fairly easy. Keep in mind this is from 6/13/2004 so the GC, GBA, and PS2 numbers aren't necessarily complete per se.

Where it come from? There is some old numbers that we never got, like Super Metroid, Super Mario Bros. USA or the MD Sonic, and more surprising it's from Media Create? Did they tracked video game sales at that time?

This could be the estimated initial shipment.

Just that Shinobi expects a 35,000 shipment for XB1 for launch. Not sales, shipment. So it will probably sell less.

歴代Xboxハードの販売実績は

「Xbox」初週:約12万台/累計:約48万台
「Xbox360」初週:6.2万台/累計:約161.5万台

「Xbox One」に関しては、360時代よりもネット通販での存在感が増す一方で
リアル店舗での予約状況が壊滅的になっており、どのぐらい動くのか読み辛い。
とりあえず初週は3.8万台と予想。
http://s.ameblo.jp/sinobi/entry-11917354370.html

"Historic Xbox actual sales performances

Xbox First week: around 120k, ltd: around 480k
Xbox360 first week: 62k, ltd: 1615k

Regarding the Xbox One, on the one hand it has a stronger presence in internet mail order than the 360 had but on the other hand the preorder situation in shops is catastrophic so it is hard to read how much it will move. For now, I'm predicting 38k fw. "

I don't know where you guys get the notion of shipment from, it's a word not mentioned at all anyhere. And he is already being pessimistic too.

Also is it just me, or is the Vita going to start falling behind last year at about week 40? The Vita had a ridiculous surge w/ a new Vita model, then the 88K week with God Eater 2 + the Vita TV, and then some good holidays (FFX, etc.) to sell over 500K in the last 12 weeks. I think the Vita's YTD this year is going to be fairly similar to last year's unless Nova + the holidays makes a fairly big impact.

What are the biggest PSV games planned before the end of the year, outside PS Nova?

It's incredibly stupid that both 3DS and PSV do not have any big IP in December. 3DS has Pokémon in late November and FF Explorers in mid-December, but no game for late December; last year 3DS had Puzzle & Dragons and Zelda, at least. Maybe Nintendo is hoping Pokémon will count as a December release, in terms of sales?

He was speaking of big IPs (FF is one) and also cited it himself. Obviously it won't be as big as MH and Pokémon but you can't have twelve huge titles like that for every month of the year.

It is a big IP, you're right, but I was meaning something bigger in terms of appeal. I doubt FFEX is going to sell more than 300-400k units to be honest. If you look at past years:

2011: Mario Kart, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
2012: Paper Mario (but Animal Crossing sold a lot in December)
2013: Puzzle&Dragons, Zelda
2014: FF Explorers (but Pokémon will sell well in December)

Nothing planned in late December though.

Since Smash is Sept, MH4G is Oct, and Pokemon in Nov, I don't really think Nintendo needs a super big title for Dec. Those titles will still be selling during the holiday period.

PDZ was a million-seller last year but Zelda isnt exactly huge either and a potentially 300k-400k selling game maybe isn´t exactly huge but still quite big. I also have to agree with the opinion that big releases like Smash4, MH4U, Pokemon OR/AS will positively affect sales for months. Theses games are end of year releases anyway or at the verly least close enough, with Final Fantasy E as a nice closure the system has a good library overall for the end of year sales. On top of this there is still the revision, which looks to be very appealing.

Actually I would like to see FFE as the only new big release in December, for the sole reason that this way it could be a little bit more in the spotlight, which could help its sales performance.

That's actually a killer lineup. 3DS should be all set for the rest of the year.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I'm very curious about Final Fantasy: Explorers sales. The first convincing (it seems) attempt from Square Enix to appeal to the MH crowd, and with one of their most important franchises. It's going to be interesting, whatever the final sales will be.

True.

Last year, though, MH4 did not increase as expected during holidays. Anyway, I guess that SSB+MH+PKMN+New3DS would be enough to steal the holidays.

True, but before the release, Zelda might have well been a +600k release; OOT3D sold 600k and was a remake, while DS Zeldas sold between 750k and 900k units.

I think YW2 will also have a positive effect on hardware despite being released in July. It does have a movie coming December 20 which could expand the userbase even more, and the legs it has already are insane.

Pokemon will sell more than P&Z, FFE will be like Zelda.

This year has more big new releases and new hardware.

I also think SSB will do more for hardware than X/Y and MH4.

Last year I predicted 3DS hardware would beat 2012 but it fell short, this year will be close one again, but I think this year is capable of beating even 2012.

Too bad the budget is too low. And it plays exactly like FFXII, not really an action game.

Let's just hope it's not been rushed for a holiday release...

Holiday launch in Japan is most likely a response due to lower sales than anticipated in their homeland.

Launching the new 3DS LL model corresponding with the releases of Monster Hunter 4, and upcoming titles such as Pokemon ORAS and Final Fantasy Explorers is a great strategy. I anticipated a revision for Smash due to the nature of the title; however, releasing it on the launch of Monster Hunter 4G might be better suited but will most likely impact future sales of 3DS' moving forward.

3-3.5 million HW sales by year-end seems like a fair bet, a decline but less steep without the launch of the revision.
It's downright scary the level of precision i had anticipating Nintendo's next move. The anouncement of Xenoblade makes it look almost like Nintendo was lurking the boards looking for ideas. XD

http://m.neogaf.com/showpost.php?p=75716319

The 3DS has a very strong position from know till the end of the year. After that the only good move i see Nintendo doing is launching a redesign before the first half of 2014, that'll ensure a continuation of strong sales for the device coming to 2015.

Saw a post sugesting that a 3DS redesign is somewhat implausible to happen. On the other hand it seems quite counter productive for Nintendo not to do one.

For me the most obvious route is doing a model between the old one and XL. The hook could be a second circle pad and some extra hardware improvements to better handle the OS and Miiverse.

The slight input method boost could allow easier porting of PS2/Wii level type of game asuring a more stable flow of releases.

A redegin (a competent one of course) has the added advantage of selling to the base that already has the device and is interested in an upgrade.

Even the improved OS/Miiverse experince was been pointed out in the commercial.

Sales-Age Genius
Since Smash is Sept, MH4G is Oct, and Pokemon in Nov, I don't really think Nintendo needs a super big title for Dec. Those titles will still be selling during the holiday period.

Those titles will be selling but hardware not. With the exception of Smash they won't attract many new adopters.

But revisions will be major factors. The will move (much?) more hardware this December than last year.

Another TGS season, another chance for my already low expectations for 3DS third party support to be lowered.

Xenoblade Chronicles only works on new 3DS? not backward compatible with existing ones?

Correcto. Apparently the OG 3DS' CPU isn't powerful enough.

Wait is there already a regular Musou game on PS4?

I think it has upports of Dynasty Warriors 8 and maybe Samurai Warriors 4 as well.

Awesome, thanks!

That's insane. I knew sales dropped massively and in 2006 DS has absurd sales, but that's incredible. Barely 32.5k of difference.

Hm, nice to see it's on PS4 as well this time. Was hoping it'd be on Wii U too (after Hyrule Warriors), but I guess you can't have everything =(. Is this supposed to be releasing this year? If so, it might be the PS4's biggest game for the rest of the year in Japan.

360 is still selling over there?:p And man Youkai Watch is still rocking on the top. Amazing how popular this series has become overtime.

I found it here; http://gehasoku.com/archives/51387686.html

They started in 1994, but maybe they were able to obtain older data from retailers.

I had not seen that before. Thanks!

Media Create, the company, was founded in 1994, but their sales info goes back to 1992. http://www.m-create.com/biz/data.html

In fact, all games in that list are from 92 or newer. (Another note, specific to that page: Any game between 1992 and 1997 that sold less than 10k was not included.)

Mario Kart Double Dash - 784,103
Mario Kart: Super Circuit - 709,263 (didn't this end up selling closer to 900K?)
Mario Kart 64 - 1,239,738 (also wasn't this like 1.7m)
Super Mario Kart - 3,524,172

Metroid Zero Mission - 58,546
Metroid Prime - 86,816
Metroid Fusion - 154,862
Super Metroid - 508,698
Metroid 2 (GB) - 102,550

There's an oddity with MK64 with all trackers. Famitsu has the highest number, the 1.7 million you noted, but that's still far below the 2.2 million Nintendo says they shipped.

I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that Yu-Gi-Oh had multiple million sellers back in the day.

And DW4 sold almost 2 millions if you add all the versions, the decline is real.
