Speaking of Smash Bros and Splatoon, I'm starting to suspect Smash Bros. for the Switch will actual be a true sequel like Splatoon 2, instead of just a port. I'm also thinking it will probably be a 2018 game.
Switch Comg's pre-orders:
Zelda Breath of the Wild - 226pt
1-2-Switch - 86pt
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 32pt (not a launch game)
Bomberman R - 16pt
Dragon Quest Heroes 1-2 - 16pt
Comparison with other launches:

Yeah. I think 2.5 million Splatoon 2 and 4.25 million Switch sales by the end of this year is about right.Nintendo just announced a Splatoon 2 Global Testfire demo for March 24th-26th (6 sessions in total). Same demo as the various hands-on events.

Nice way to get Splatoon players on-board early.
Out of curiosity, needs 15k for what? To not fall behind the PS3 before week 174? If so, it seems unlikley at this point
GamesMaya is reporting good word of mouth for Nioh and strong sales this weekend.
Since YSO predictions are based on pre-orders and pre-launch hype, they will probably be off this week since Nioh exceeded expectations after launch.
Poor NIS. Disgaea 5 Complete looks like their biggest effort to get on a Nintendo system (right at launch too) but preorders aren't even as high as the other two third party Switch games at Comg, much less Disgaea 3 on Vita. Maybe they're in for the long haul but still, Disgaea is their biggest IP and it didn't do well on PS4 in Japan either. I'm sure they were hoping to deliver a comparable version to an audience who prefers handhelds, but I wonder if it'll so any better on Switch than it did on PS4.

How much did it sell on PS4? Being at launch is tempered anyway by its general sales potential and by it still being a late port already sold on many other platforms since the forever
I wouldn't even call D5 a big effort though. It's a year late port retailing at full price. I know it's launch day on a new console, but does it really demand full price. Porting was likely not a huge endeavor if we are to believe other devs.

that really just speaks about NIS' inability to actually make an effort.
It sold ~43k by the end of 2015.
Their efforts on Nintendo consoles are all pretty much ports, but the only time Disgaea made it to a Nintendo system was the considerably downgraded port for the DS. NISA did a few things that were notable I believe (Cave Story, Sakura Wars port), but Disgaea is the closest thing they have to a major IP. The fact that it is D5 and not some random older one shows they're making an effort. And having it out at launch in Japan is a big effort from NIS I'd say. They previously said D5 would not run well on Vita, which means they're basically trying to offer this to their fans who'd like this portable.
That is amazing! I just can't believe how incompetent some companies are!The fun fact about Disgaea 5 is that on March 16th, so two weeks after Switch's launch,The Best Price version is releasing for PS4 for 3,800¥ (While is 6,980¥ for Switch).

Yes, Disgaea 5, a game released in 2015, has been released on so many platforms, like PS4, PS4, PS4, PS4 and soon Nintendo Switch.

43k on PS4 to me means that even a 20k ltd more than 1 year later at full price would be good

Disgaea is all they have.
They are probably hoping that any kind of buzz earned through Switch launch hype will sell some more units of the PS4 version therefore the budget price release.
Does the Best Price version of games usually come with the DLC?
NIS needs to work on its marketing. Afaik Best Price version is without any DLC while Switch is like a GOTY edition. The season pass when it was still available cost 4000¥, all the individual DLC total at 4900¥ (unless there is also a sale on those). The fun fact about Disgaea 5 is that on March 16th, so two weeks after Switch's launch,The Best Price version is releasing for PS4 for 3,800¥ (While is 6,980¥ for Switch).

Switch is a Friday release. Even if initial shipment doesn't "leak" before, Thursday first day sell-through from Media Create will give hints.
Why will we get numbers on Thursday if it launches on Friday?
Are the Japanese audiences such cooperate fanboys that Nintendo vs Sony matters more than portable vs home console? The big issue NIS faces is that the Nintendo audience doesn't care about them and until now NIS has not cared about the Nintendo audience. Niikawa has had to come out at least twice and reassure people that they are actually going to support the Switch.

Switch isn't even out and Sony pushes developers to leave their Vita audience hang and dry by moving everything to PS4. Again, will that portable audience cease to exist just because Sony told them so?Nah i think what he means is that the audience just isn't there. NIS have never tried to cultivate an audience on Nintendo consoles, Sony is where they've always been. But seeing as there's no vita version, if handheld fans want it, they have to buy a switch.

I think you are missing the part that of all previously Vita centered developers NIS is the one that made the "PS4 exclusive" move the earliest and got burned hard for it. Yes of course there is a risk that the hi-end portable otaku audience previously and still on Vita will just stop looking for a dedicated hi-end portable device. But I doubt any of the other previously Vita centered developers making the move to PS4 exclusives will fare much better than NIS. And at that point it's not about "cultivating an audience on a Nintendo platform" but about "can we salvage that hi-end portable audience that will never make the move to home console or are we doomed".Not only that but if there's no guarantee that NIS will continue to release software on Switch after Disgaea 5(which is why Niikawa came out and promised they will). If you expand it even further there's no other PS-centric franchises being released on Switch right now either so that audience has no real incentive to move over.
The issue is Switch isn't getting all of those games and PS4 is. If the choice is between all the franchises they like in the form they don't like(PS4) or the opposite(Switch) then consumers will make the obvious choice().Neither
PS4 will always be a key platform for those devs because it's the easiest and safest way to get access to the international market.
Nintendo and Switch must prove that the Switch is also a reasonable platform not the other way.

Well, if they heavily invest in higher production values without thinking about how and where to sell it they likely already are as good as dead...I'm of the opinion that it will extremely difficult for software publishers to course correct. Especially for relatively higher end software, once they've increased those production values it will be hard to go back.

Even if Disgaea 5 Complete does better than pre-orders show, it'll still track below the two previous remakes on the Vita.
