Well, it was a bit back. She was legal by any means, but she looked underage and her movies targeted people who were appealed by her petite figure. I called her name specifically, because she appeares in a court case against someone who was thought of consuming pedophilia because he watched hwr videos and she proved to the court that she was indeed legal at the time of the filming and got him free.

Maybe "Little Lupe" brings you more fitting pictures. In fact, just search that on a porn website.

Oh I'm sorry for the confusion, the second sentence was about Tatsumaki being 28. I should have phrased that better.

Why isn't anyone talking about how the Atomic Samurai and his disciple fight looked straight out of a movie?

Scene was pretty cool

Best moment was still the bit with the huge ass bullets, damn that was cool as fuck

reminded me of the scene in ep 5 of FLCL

That thin line-art looks so cool imo. I really want the rest of the fight agaisnt the many head alien (can't remember name) next episode to be done by the same animator, hopefully.

While one may not agree with the values of Japan you have to accept you are importing a Japanese product that hasn't gone through any localisation apart from subtitling.

So I just shouldn't ever criticize something if it comes from Japan? I can accept while criticizing while enjoying. None of these things are mutually exclusive.

Feels like people are bringing in something that doesn't exist, all im going to say as this thread has been derailed enough. Can't wait for the next Episode read the Manga up until the last fight, gonna be soooo good to see it animated.

No you totally should, but the notion that the criticism will reach the author himself or anyone else that could change it is just not possible. You should take it the context of the Western fanbase if anything.

You keep using the word criticized, but you want it to be changed. You aren't Japanese. they don't want the stuff to be changed. Everyone always falls back on "it's just criticism", but when you want things changed it becomes more than that.

Of course, and I've never suggested it would!

Wanting change and criticizing are not mutually exclusive, either. I like to talk about things, and other people clearly do, too, or this conversation wouldn't have existed in the first place, even before I joined in. U:

Conversation is dead at this point thanks to this though so whatever...

It's also not like the fanservice stuff is even really in the original work anyway. It was basically added in the remade manga and even more so, anime. That said, I doubt it bothers the original creator.

Maturity, bitches.

I didn't say that. I'm saying different countries have different values and it's a rather big ask to make something that appease everyone. I even gave examples of non Japanese shows that would cause eyebrows to be raised in other countries, so it's not even a Japan only issue.

Would you expect America to adjust things for a niche Japanese audience that chose to import a show if it had elements that went against the grain of Japanese society?

I think once this season ends I'll just catch up on the ONE web comic and then move on to Mob.

Should just read Mob right now because it's great. Also better than OPM!

I guess I just don't understand this notion that someone who's criticizing is also expecting their criticism to lead to change. I don't believe anything I said implied that I could lead to an uproar in the anime industry.

An episode of One Punch Man looked great, news at 11 :p

But yes this episode looked great (though there were clearly some transitions and spots they could have embellished upon if they had the time/energy)

I'm more hyped for the next two episodes though <3

There isn't enough detail in ONE for that stuff anyway! And I don't think it bothers ONE, he surely approves and oversees all the Murata/anime stuff.

Whatever, i'm fine with someone saying they don't like something, fine with them explaining why, etc. But when people want things to be changed and removed it bugs me.

I'm bowing out of this though, just gonna talk about the show now. Thread got hella derailed and my opinions are just different from others.

oh well

OPM One ain't that bad. It looks like scribbles at times but the paneling and flow are pretty good.

Mob Pyscho is way improved, still nothing amazing but it has some semblance of a style. Murata is one of the best artists in the business so ONE's art looks even worse in comparison

There comes a point where you really shouldn't have to be bothered to consider what those in another country will think when your product is primarily aimed at the domestic market. Different countries have different values and we have to accept that. OPM was a web comic written for the Japanese audience that happened to capture the interest of foreigners. ONE shouldn't then be obliged to appease those who chose to read it. If he suddenly does something you don't like based on your own culture then that's just life, clearly for him (and I guess most of Japan as these elements have gone unchanged with a redrawn manga and now an anime adaptation) these are non issues.

In Britain we had a prime time comedy on the BBC called Come Fly With Me. This show featured characters almost entirely portrayed by two white men, including black, Japanese, Pakistani etc. Now I know that this type of thing would be a big no no in America, but here in Britain is was seen as OK (I should note it got complaints, but almost everything does because complaining about TV is a national pastime). And no, this isn't something from the 70s, Come Fly With Me is less than five years old. I doubt many would say Britain is a country that needs to learn about diversity. Or for another British show written for British audiences that has a reputation of being rather un-PC and yet popular abroad - Top Gear. No one was telling them what was not acceptable abroad.

absolutely agree with this. you can criticize, but don't expect things to change because what you care about isn't necessarily what the source country cares about. None of OPM makes me uncomfortable, because it's not meant to be a serious manga, with a serious story. I don't think ONE should stop writing characters he wants to write, and if it makes you uncomfortable stop reading, but don't complain that he should change them.

As a white dude, I'm tired of seeing white dudes everywhere! Especially when walking down the street in some places around where I live and work I'm MORE likely to see non-white dudes.

EDIT: Also, by the same token, you could say "I don't really want non-diversity just because", which is usually the reason it happens. Just because. ):

Just gonna say that as a black guy, I don't really want diversity just because

Like, if a creator wants to have a black character because that's what they want, cool.

but just putting it in for no reason other than diversity means nothing

just how I feel

As another white guy, the color of a persons skin, or anything else about them in media doesn't mean jack shit to me. If your character is written well, then that's all that matters imo.

Obviously there are reasons to encourage diversity in media though, it just isn't that important to me.

I just want artists to have complete freedom, I see no real reason to think for others, someone out there somewhere is going to get upset anyway so why bother.
Creators should do what they think is best.

totally agree

And you'd be avatar quoted to hell and back :p

At any rate, I don't see the problem. I just looked it up and some wiki said she's 28. She also just looks kinda small but not childlike to me. Mebbe that's just me though.

I also don't see Tatsumaki as a child. She clearly has a developed body/proportions (minus the chest), and just comes off as a very short adult.

There are people who look like this in real life, is it wrong to show interest in them?

The only fanservice I saw in this episode was the animation.
nono, im pretty sure i saw a panty shot for a millisecond there
very subtle but still disgusting imo

Why isn't anyone talking about how the Atomic Samurai and his disciple fight looked straight out of a movie?

clearly too busy whining about sexualization, fanservice and diversity in anime.

anyhow, the animators are doing a great job with this show so most of the people aren't really surprised at how good it looks anymore.

There is one scene in particular I am really looking forward to. I'm half tempted not to even post it but I'm so excited. Manga spoilers -

Boros punching Saitama TO THE MOON and Saitama jumping back

huh he kinda looks like the zombieman in the manga. It's been a while since I read that volume so I would never have noticed they changed his face. Brilliantly animated scene, damn I'm hyped for the next two episodes.

i'll be sure to be just as dismissive when you have complaints it's very mature and definitely makes us all look like reasonable humans

sorry your avatar is amazing

Murata almost has a sameface-y kind of style but it only really shows when people are drawn ultra serious hyper detailed mode. Certainly not as bad as Araki in Part 8 of JoJo or Toriyama

I think I prefer the anime's older looking, more grizzled Iaian than Murata's version. In today's episode he reminded me of a character straight out of Berserk, which suits his medieval character design I guess. In the manga he resembles some weird mashup of Zombieman and Garou.

Genos and Saitama look much older in the anime too, when they aren't fighting in the manga they straight up look like 13 year olds at times

You say that like elements of ephebophilia or worse are some kind of irreplaceable component of Japanese culture. OPM isn't having VHS bootlegs imported into the States with dubs superimposed in seedy dark labs; it's clearly being distributed wherever Daisuki and whatnot are available, and acting like "Japan shouldn't have to stoop to America's level by dumbing down things their barbarian sensibilities wouldn't be able to pick up, such as loli" is downright ridiculous. I mean, in terms of making something universally "marketable," creating a well-rounded woman character without having her play into either intentional sexualization or intentionally sexualizing a childlike character doesn't somehow strip the character or work of its Japanese identity. Besides, I don't see how you can seriously say Japan has "different values" when you're explicitly laying out that all of the weird pandery loli shit is specifically aimed at a niche audience. Your average Japanese citizen isn't going to sign off on something like that.

that's kind of a bad picture since he's in motion

ussually his hair falls flat like in the anime, but it's not as long.

the face is still different though

they look the same IMO
