Well, I'm pretty sure it'll end up as a 12-games list thread, but oh well
Judging by previews, videos or even reviews for the games that are already out this year, you have to choose only 12 games that you would buy this year. No more, no less.
I mean, it's a rule. You CAN'T buy more than 12 games.
What would you choose ?
I guess I'd had another rule: only up to 6 2011 (or older) titles may be in your list.
Here is my list and explanations:
- Final Fantasy XIII-2: Well, I loved the first game and I want more. The demo sold me totally on the game, even I was already planning to buy it
- Darksiders 2: The first game was also awesome and previews are pretty good. What else do I need to be convinced ? A good review maybe ?
- Batman: Arkham City - Again, the first game was pretty good, even if I hated most of the bosses
- Prototype 2: Need some more sandbox super hero game. The first game had its share of flaws, but if they can improve the formula, it'd be great ! I'm on a total media blackout on this game (and almost all games I'm interested in, actually ), to the point that I don't think I've even seen a screenshot of the game (or maybe I can't remember it)
- Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance - After BBS, how can I not expect another great game from S-E Osaka ? The first trailer already sold me, just by seing Sora jumping on walls and learning about the synopsis.
- Soul Calibur V: Played a demo at Paris Games Week expo. Seems pretty good. Only waiting for reviews to see if there's enough single player content for me. I miss all the modes from SCIII
- inFamous 2: Same thing than Prototype 2.
- DmC Devil May Cry: The second trailer gave me faith in the project. While I'm not expecting a game as good as its predecessors, I need my beat'em up fix for this year. I hope it delivers.
- Final Fantasy Type-0: Whatever the platform this game lands on when it's released overseas, I can't wait to play another Tabata's greatness. Crisis Core and T3B were so fun that I know to expect great fun with this game too. I sure hope the english version will be released this year.
- Ninja Gaiden 3: If DmC fails to deliver, this one may. I'm skeptical about the Move implementation, but I'd like to give it a try (I know it's optional, but I need a real hardcore game that uses Move and isn't an FPS). Didn't play NG(S)2, but NGS was great despite its awful camera.
- Catherine (PAL release): demo was pretty good and I need more ADV games.
- Mass Effect 3: It's time to end this.
I know most of these games are being released (or already released) in Q1, but I don't think we have much visibility on what to expect for the second semester. Maybe my list would change if I knew what to expect.
But it's already pretty hard to choose only 12 games :lol

No, I'm not breaking my no-more new games until I almost clear my backlog rule, from my other thread
