Petition to make Sony support 1440p

A brand new 4k monitor right now is like 250 bucks. Why the hell would you get a new 1440p monitor?

this so called petition is to get people with older monitors on board. And many of those old monitors dont support 1440p over hdmi.
If they had any cash they wouldn’t be using brand new 1440p monitors now would they?

What Dell monitor do you have? Cause 1440p monitors typically have higher refresh rates and are generally better value for money.

Not surprising PS5 wont support it, the PS4 Pro did not support 1440p as an output resolution and Sony looks only at TV standards. I suspect the same design mindset on the PS4 has followed into the PS5.

On top of that wouldn't be surprised if the PS5 is HDMI 2.1 only, no 120hz on anything but a HDMI 2.1 source. No Freesync and 120hz over HDMI 2.0

1440p 144Hz is the PC monitor of choice, its were the bulk of the best products are.

One way out of this could be is if any of the PS5 USB ports are wired up for Displayport output, that way via a USB-C to DP cable Sony could support PC monitors with 1440p Freesync, 144Hz (capped to 120) and leave the HDMI 2.1 as the TV interface.

dell ultrasharp U2711 (year 2013) i still use it for graphical design the monitor is a beast. If you ever see videos of a bunch of designers in a video odds are they used or still use this monitor.
(Component Video, Composite, DisplayPort, 2x DVI-D, HDMI, VGA (D-Sub)
and yes no 1440p over hdmi. I never bought this monitor for gaming tbh. (the apple thunderbolt display is basically the same screen but with a glossy layer) oh and it's double the price because apple

I currently own the acer predatorx34p 3440x1440p 120hz 21:9 gsync ips (after returning 3 for sheit ips bleed) That one does 3440x1440p on hdmi but only at 50hz.
Like i said before higher resolution on hdmi can be a shit show on many monitors.

If you're not gaming on a 4K OLED what are you even literally doing smh my damn head.
A true society.
I get it, some people can only afford their 2K monitors with bad motion clarity, but frankly no offence PS5 is a premium product so just don't.
Again no hate but I'll still spit the facts.

Except a high refresh rate PC monitor does it so much better than a 4K 60Hz TV, not to mention when a game runs at just 30, so if they are giving 1440p60 options, so why not follow suit and actually properly support it, not just on the rendering side but at the output side as well? Like I said in my previous post, I get it, the demand is so low I can't really blame them, but on the other hand the work required to add one additional resolution output to the list is close to none.

They removed their statement. My friend who has the PS5 for review sent me the resolution options. 720p, 1080i (I shit u not), 1080p and 2160p.
Hey , did your friend ever get around to plugging it in tona 1440p monitor? I really just hoping it's a thing where it didnt want to display the option because it wasnt connected.

Many gamers around the world use monitors - especially 27" 1440p monitors, as it is the gold standard regarding pixels per inch.

Microsoft has supported the resolution for the past 4 years on their last gen. consoles (Xbox One S/X). and their next gen. consoles also support the resolution. There is absolutely no reasoning behind not supporting it.

We don't need to upgrade or buy new expensive hardware to be able to get a good experience. We only need an option to play with the setup we already have and get the fullest out of it.

The solution is a simple update to the operating system, which downscales the 4K signal to 1440p. Nothing more nothing less.

With this petition I hope we can let Sony know, that we're here - not just us who plays games on monitors, but gamers who want more choices and diversity in how we play games.

Support the petition and spread it to all the gaming forums and media outlets. Let's make PlayStation, be for the players.

Thank you.

Then why are many developers targeting a 1440p60 mode, just so it can be upscaled to 4K or downscaled to 1080p? That's terrible.

If I hook up my PS4 Pro to a 1440p monitor, I only get the option of 1080p, and of course it looks a little soft.

It would be nice to have 1440p monitor, and select 1440p for the game. Native with no scaling is always best.
Isn't that downsampling though and makes the image look better?

Dude, I'm (obviously) making fun of the nay-sayers. I made the petition.

But I did pre-order the Eve Spectrum. If Sony comes with a 1440p patch before february, I will cancel my order. The benefit from going from a 27" 1440 to 27" 4K is absolutely not worth it.

Most recent 1440p monitors afaik can take a 4K signal and scale it to 1440p afaik. Otherwise you could output to 1080p.

The monitor that i use on my pc has hdmi 2.0 input, any chance that these are the types of monitors you may be speaking of?

Tag, you're it.
Wrong it does not
Many PC MONITORS do NOT support above 1080P ON HDMI PORTS. Even if the port can handle it.

supporting 1440p is pointless.
Either 1080p or 4k
people have 1080 or 4k monitors

asking for 1440p i like asking for 21:9 support.

i wish they did. But it makes NO sense

Since PC gaming isn't big in Japan I don't think they have a finger on this pulse.

1440p is not hugely popular but its growth is pretty steady. The biggest PC retailer in my city has this massive warehouse with a ton of demo monitors out. It used to be 80% 1080p and 20% 1440p but now it's like 95% 1440p. The tide is definitely shifting.

Are you seriously that out of touch? Very few people want a 4k monitor for gaming, there aren't many GPU's that can push decent frames on 4k. We're years away from that.

petitions are a waste of time.

know what would get them to do something? don't buy it if it doesn't work the way you want it to.

That’s a pipe dream right there. People will buy it unhappily or not.

You. Might be asking too much now.

oh i know they will but if you want change the best way to do it is not give them money. they don't give a shit if people sign internet petitions. they will care if they sell less consoles.

is that gonna happen? no.

I guess it would be a nice QoL thing, but doesn't seem necessary. Pretty much the only reason people run 1440p monitors is for the high refresh rate, and PS5 games will be 30-60fps anyway.
