Could I be updated in the OP?

I did a little bit of overclocking. Took my i7 920 @ 3.7ghz up to 4.2ghz and my GTX 470 from 625mhz up to 700mhz.

Overall I gained close to 500 points. :)

With a 6-core i7 and a dual core video card, figured it would be higher. Wonder what's holding it back.

I've been tempted to buy that card for a while now but I just can't spend $400 on a GPU. It just sounds like it would make a great card for doing Render work, having more than one screen, and playing games due to the higher amount of available graphics memory on the card and the fact that it runs like one single card.

I was just in the middle of updating this and I got a phone call with some really bad news so I'm not in the mood to do it any more, will do it when I am ready, sorry for taking so long guys...

I have pretty much the same build. Let me know when you're ready to OC and I'd be happy to help out where I can since I did a lot of research along with trial and error already.

Just to show potential, you can hit 8000+ with your setup.

I don't have 3D Mark 11 nor can I run 3D mark 11. I can run 3D Mark 10, can I still join?

Nope.... unfortunately this is a 3D Mark 11 race ladder.
If we went down to 3D mark 10 we wouldnt be pushing our DX11 cards much.
The point is to see peak performance, 3D Mark 11 is one of the best ways to do that.

There are a couple of guys who have posted Vantage points, just for others to compare who cant run 3D Mark 11, so i guess you could run Vantage and compare it with the others who have run it.

Im not sure what page they are on, i think page 3 and 4.

Okay, well I don't have the money to upgrade my computer and my 4890 is still a pretty good card so have fun I guess.

As a point of reference my score was P3365 on stock clocks on the Q6600 and HD 5850. I haven't really pushed the limits of the OC's as my system meets my current gaming needs.

Did the guy with Tri-SLI GTX 580s post in here?

Surely he has the fastest PC on GAF.
think dual 6990 took it by a bit..tho it wouldn't take much time to fiddle with overclocking to beat the numbers..was using stock cooler for the dual 6990's

My Radeon HD 5970 is registering as 2 cards. It's actually a single card. Well, those who know graphics cards likely know the deal behind what I'm getting at. Odd to have it in the 2x category is all.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the results considering my system is now 1.5 years old and nothing is overclocked. Everything is stock from Dell/Alienware.

Think I could probably squeeze a bit more out of the GPUs, but I'm satisfied with #1 for 560s.

*edit*
WTF, Haz your 6950s are trouncing my 560Ti's. 2GB make that much of a difference in 3DMark? *grumble*

Time to upgrade I guess. (not really though)

5970 is two GPUs. They're just on the same PCB rather than connected with a crossfire or SLI bridge.

Loving this thread, I've spent the morning looking at ways to boost my bench. Going to try out a few things, might put the proc on a suicide run in the 5.2Ghz range. Lets see what we can get out of it with 1.5V. Good thing I have a spare sitting around.

God damn, I thought my MSI TFII 560's were good but they sure as hell can't break 1ghz without going nuts with the voltage, 1.080V would only put mine in the 975 range or so.

Wow. My score seems pretty shitty for my system.

P6289

i5-2500k @ 4.4 and EVGA 580GTX SC.

I'm pretty afraid to OC my GPU though. I have only had bad experiences with that in the past.

EDIT: Memory is at 1333... I can go up to 1600 but I have stability issues for some reason.

mkenyon, what's your 560s's mem clock set to? 2100?

I didn't mess with the memory clock at all, and I can't remember off the top of my head what stock was. Heard that can cause lots of issues with getting a stable clock.

Also, ColonialRaptor wants me to take over the thread (from my asking), should I contact mods or make a 2.0 version?

I have a 2600k@4.4 an MSI twin frozr 580@stock. The first time I ran it it crashed in the demo part just before the graphics tests start. Second time around I got the above.

Anyway I'm trying figure some various issues out...I get crashes in BF3 and Crysis 2 with everything on ultra/1920x1080/DX11. What kind of frame rates/crashing should I expect? I'm adding my score in a second.

About 1.11 - 1.15 and see if you can do 920MHz on core and work you way up. Monitor temps and use some of the scores in the OP as reference.

So Change the core voltage to 1138 and the core clock to 920? I picked that voltage because it's the same someone with the same 580 I have uses.

Then just apply, run the benchmark again...How do I monitor the temps though? and what should they be?

I've been using this one to figure out how to do some of this stuff...pretty fun

NM thanks for everything...I've learned a lot tonight. Went from 6934 to 7794 and I guess everything is stable?

So in the world of over clocking, the main thing I need to monitor are cpu and gpu temps right? After doing what you suggested (1.138, 920), I watched the gpu temp on my G13 throughout 3Dmark, and it never got above 80c. What temps do I need to watch the cpu for, and does anyone know of a way to monitor both temps on a G13?

That seems much more in line :)

CPU while benching sub 75C imo. You can go higher, but a good general guideline. General use in gaming and video stuff you want it under 60C usually.

G13 probably some generic temp plugin.

First core way back in Feb was 5736. I had tweaked settings and it's been like that since.

Was 4.5ghz, 8GB RAM, 6970 CAT 11.4

Now 4.63ghz CAT 11.11c - RESULT

Yes, last nights score was legit but I did it today and brought proof and scored even better :O
