Should Nintendo consider a standard/pro version of the switch successor or stick to a single spec?

Single spec.

The task ahead of Nintendo is not small at all, they need to find a good enough differentiator that convinces people to pick up a switch successor. The Switch has had a ton of market saturation at this point, and the boring Sony/Xbox trick of moar graphics won't do the trick because Nintendo has wisely cultivated an audience that doesn't care much about graphics.

Making 2 or more SKUs is an unnecessary risk on top of the risks they face right now.

I voted standard/pro, but what I mean is portable and docked, but docked is maxed as much as possible.

Single spec. Pro version should focus on larger battery, better display, build quality etc.

I would only vote for some sort of powerful "pro" dock if:

1) it's 100% optional to buy
2) it doesn't require any significant engineering work from devs, but they are free to go the extra mile if they want to, as long as it's not to the detriment of the non-pro dock version)
3) it doesn't come with a stupidly high price tag

Marketing line should be:

"Nintendo Switch 2 games are a huge step up from the original Nintendo Switch, and for those of you who want extra fidelity or other additional graphical features/options (depending on the developer), we have the Pro Dock, an optional extra, available at [insert unreasonable price]"

“Standard” = handheld
“Pro” = docked

That’s literally the model they have already, I see no reason why they wouldn’t continue it other than radical change seeming to be Nintendo’s default.

PS4-level power with DLSS would be incredible.
PS4 level and then as a bonus after the fact DLSS then yes would be incredible.
But if DLSS is what brings it to "PS4 level" not so much.

They should just stick to a single SKU and introduce slightly different ones later like they always do with their handhelds. It works because parents buying their kids the newest “Gameboy” don't want to worry about multiple different hardware versions, but releasing revised versions later makes it easy because then they can just ask for the newest version without having to remember whatever arbitrary name it has.

A successful company quashes rumors of new hardware at every turn. Never tease you have something "in development", until it's leaked too badly to put back in the bottle.
