The Game Awards 2020 |OT| Boring, but still bigger than E3 (18:30 ET // 15:30 PT // 23:30 GMT)

I hate SWJ's and the whole woke culture. I love The Last of Us I & II. Been playing for close to 40 years, and have yet to find anything that comes even close to those two masterpieces. Couldn't be happier about them sweeping the awards. Another great win for Naughty Dog and Sony. Hopefully this means we'll get more gritty IP's in the future.
Naughty Dog will be back with another GOTY winner in a few years. Every single game they've put out in the last 12 years outside of Uncharted 3 was the most awarded game that year. Uncharted 2, TLOU, TLOU 2, and UC4. Better track record than anyone else in the industry.

Damn, I would get bored of a game after about 30 years.

i will only mention things that i remember from this show as it was too fast

sydney is very pretty
alanah pearce lost, hahaha
tlous2 wins at everything
among us is literally AMONG US
ark 2 with riddick and awful CG
the korean MMO looked incredible
nice ghouls and ghosts remake
n7 logo almost gave me a heart attack
too many cg trailers except for the game with four armed zombies and that EA co op game
award winners crying
returnal looks great but housemarque always delivers no surprise there
ADS and addons

Ghosts was my choice out of the ones I’ve played in that category , I’ll have to pick up Hades, looks brilliant.

Seeing the publishers who’s games get nominated for game of the year in recent years and the winners, Microsoft need to step up there, the decent fans deserve something of that revered quality at some point.

Yeezus and Rodeo are fire
Both are some of the most unconventional albums ever produced :messenger_bicep:

Both have the best intro tracks ever lol, that moment in "Pornography" where the vocals echo blew my mind

TLoU2 hurt their rep. I’d temper your expectations from here on out. The Tumblr audience isn’t a huge audience.

I mean it's an opinion that is shared by many. God of War won 200+ GOTYs that were picked by media and readers. TLOU2 will be the same. 20+ for it already.
Yeah, and that's totally fine! God of War was a phenomenal game, RDR2 just stood out to me a bit more, personally, because the story tugged at my heart strings numerous times. Loved the soundtrack as well! :)

I'm sure TLOU2 will. I just wish I saw what the hardcore fans saw. But I didn't. 🤷‍♂️

I got to say I enjoyed it. I was hoping for a western character for Smash but Sepiroth will at least ensure FF finally gets proper representation in Smash. Back 4 Blood looked fucking amazing. And it was nice to the long rumoured Perfect Dark game get revealed. It's a shame about Silent Hill though. That shit looks dead.

The real star of the show though, was of course the Evil Dead game. It looks fucking amazing. Here's hoping they can work out a deal with Sony Pictures to add Mia from the 2013 film as a playable character. Ether way it's finally nice to see the AOD license reunited with the other films. MGM has been kind of a prick about that. I would love to find out how Lionsgate and the Evil Dead folks got them on board with the game.

Here's hoping the reunification of the IP means more Evil Dead content in DBD and a revival of Ash in MK11.

Also it was nice to see Among Us win a few awards. You could tell the small 5 person development team were super excited to be there.

After being wholly uninterested in tonight's trailers and announcements, I wonder if I'm even in the target demographic for games any more. Quite the letdown. Hopefully Sony has something brewing that hasn't been announced yet.

Besides brutally killing Joel for no reason what was all the fuss about then. I didn’t play the game and my memory is hazy in regards to the initial backlash.

I heard a lot of people say it was lazy parasitic sorry telling as described in this video. I’ve seen it too many times in recent years which made me stay away from the sequel.

I felt like the target demographic was the casual Twitch crowd. Only the series of trailers at the very end of the awards were somewhat interesting to me.

My thoughts as well. I suppose I'm just growing out of the "Western" tastes these days and would prefer the offerings from Japan mostly now.

alyx got destroyed

what a shame
Twice, actually. Alyx was suppossed to have a gameplay demo at last year's TGA but it was conspicuously cancelled. This year not only did it not get nominated for GOTY but the whole VR GOTY category was just thrown away without fanfare, Gabe Newell should have made an appearance to receive the award, but I guess a game streamer taking minutes of screen time is more important. /s

How will VR gaming get more recognition/acceptance if it gets cockblocked every step of the way?

Are we only counting the game awards? Are they the only goty awards that matter?
I'm talking about total number of GOTY awards won for a particular year. UC2, TLOU, UC4, and TLOU2 all won more than any other game during the year they released. BOTW is the only Nintendo game that I know of that did that.

Straight up! Utopia coming soon!

Agreed.

My God, his Coachella Performance will be up there with the greats like Kanye's MBDTF 2010 Coachella set :messenger_fire:

I wonder if he'll release Utopia before or after Coachella....

I hope he takes his time like he did for Astroworld.

And thanks for linking that set, the opening got me HYPED AS FUCK!

In my opinion its underserved winner.
Hades robbed from GOTY. Half Life Alyx robbed from innovation/direction, and TLOU2 winning best narrative where its story and writing as a whole was a mess of a trainwreck.

Doom Eternal and Ori go out with nothing.

What a shame, terrible reveals, uninteresting trailers, no Elden Ring, no Starfield. Literally a waste of my time for the second year in a row.
Well my fault for believing in Geoff show again.

Going back to Cyberpunk.

A small group of loud mouthed fuckheads means nothing. Fuck 'em. The game's doing well.

Anyways, I hope the haters enjoy their tears. I know I am :)
How are it's sales numbers for this week? anyway, many liked the first game, let's see how many buy the third after the disrespect of the 2nd.

It's funny to me that the gaming industry so desperately wants to be hollywood with their "deep" stories but 95% of the games still end up with you as a murder machine shooting everything.
