Danny, why did you start a thread like this?

You knew someone was going to start one... and hey, they put Katamari Damacy on the list! Awards shows can change, really! They promised never to beat me again after last time... :|

I will shit my pants if they actually make the show respectful to video games and people who enjoy them, and not a two (three?) hour advertisement and insult to "nerds."

Not that I REALLY care (nor can I watch)... but what celebs are going to be on hand? (who's hosting, as well?)

I know Snoop Dogg is hosting, and performing with Pharrell. Other than that, it's a mystery to me.

Motely Crue will also be performing, along with Sum 41 and Ludacris.

Oh, and on a commercial just now the said "Before the show check out a sneak peak of the games that will be big in 2005!"

Perhaps it will turn out to a respectable awards show this time? At least respectable by gamer's standards... At any rate, it's sure to be entertaining in at least a guilty pleasure sense.

Plus, check this out:
In addition to handing out awards in 24 categories, Spike TV's VIDEO GAME AWARDS 2004 will feature musical performances including SUM 41, Ludacris and for the first time ever, a special live performance by Snoop Dogg and the remaining members of The Doors singing "Riders on the Storm."
WTF? Snoop and The Doors? I gotta see that to believe it.

The cover of Riders on the Storm is actually featured in NFSU2, as well. Exclusive to that game, apparently.

THOUGHTS?!

All signs point to it being a possibility!

Considering EBGames also sponsors the Spike TV Awards, I really wouldn't be surprised if GMR won. That would be an interesting scenario.

GMR winning that award would be a disgrace to the people that worked hard on it. Let Game Informer win it.

i hope the journalists on this board agree with me that their websites(or any website for that matter) shouldnt be up for any industry awards.

Yeah I work at EB and the new tape we have to play doesn't have a damn thing about these awards on it.

You know what? I think I confused myself. EB I don't reckon has anything to do with this. Or if they do, it's just another sponsor, like GameStop. They help host the G4TechTV Awards. MY BAD.

Now I'll have to hear about what games won what awards at work by 10 year old punks who don't know how to wash their grubby hands (damn them for destroying our display DS). Then again those scrubby kids bring their parents in to buy games which in turn provides me extra income for the season.

If I could take a picture for each person's reaction that asks about Kingdom Hearts II for PS2. EB's official date in the computer is like 09/15/2005.

Funny you mention that. Some guy came in last night and said he wanted Kingdom Hearts II. I told him it wasn't out yet, but a sequel did just come out on the GBA, called Chain of Memories. He gave me an utterly confused look and said "Oh, okay thanks.." He walked out into the mall, got on his cellphone, and called someone. I started helping another customer, and while I was, he came back in and started talking to the manager on duty. He told her I lied to him, and that the people in GameStop said Kingdom Hearts II was out. He said he wanted a copy. She showed him our computer, which says it isn't coming out until next September. She subsequently showed him the Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories box. He said "Just forget it!" real loud, said he'd go to another GameStop, and stormed out. It was great.

Thats awesome....its nice working a retail job and not really care if you get fired. So I'm trying to plan a good way to get canned after Xmas. Most people have been suprisingly nice this season in EB. Not many people bitching, then again some kid was pissed off we wouldn't do a cash trade in on his suspect games. All brand new titles that still smelled like new plastic (shut up, we all sniff our games when we open them). They valued well over 30 bucks for trade in ($30 is the minimum to do a cash trade-in) but me and the manager just didn't feel like doing it for this scrub punk.

Ah well, any good ways for me to go out in style after the Xmas?

I would say either take a whole bunch of games without paying, or pee on one of the customers. Seriously, I've often thought of peeing on people.

Game idea sounds good but don't want any real trouble to come from it. Peeing on select customers though....hmmm

If not that then a dropkick to some throats sounds in order..... one dropkick for each person that asks for a price on a item that requires me to get a ladder. And then not buy it...

Wow, a show that has that many metaphorical rapings all in a short range of time? I gotta check this out. I wonder how the remaining members of The Doors will handle theirs.

It almost might be worth watching the show with closed-captioning on just to decipher what Snoop Doggy Dizzle (fo' shizzle) is saying.
