VAN HELLSWING: Slay Dracula’s Army in an Intense FPS with Superb Movement & Verticality! (Prototype)

Just a heads up about the mechanics in this game. It only takes two hits to kill you, but blasting the giant crystals heals you. It's a prototype build at the moment, but I already love the movement and it's very addictive.

Van Hellswing is a fast paced wave-based shooter where you blast vampires in the remains of a ruined castle floating within a dark abyss.

The gameplay in Van Hellswing is a little like Devil Daggers but with much more verticality, a grappling hook and momentum-based parkour movement. Your aim is to earn as many points as possible, which you do by blasting the hordes of flying vampires and special crystals that appear throughout the castle (and also heal you when destroyed).

You only have one weapon – a magical shotgun. It doesn’t have a very fast fire-rate or much range, but it’s very satisfying to use and can be charged up for some devastating power-shots. Meanwhile the grappling hook and the momentum-focused movement system makes getting around the castle a delight.

It’s a very fast paced and challenging game, which requires real skill to last longer than five minutes. The environmental design is remarkably detailed and the movement system is particularly impressive, making for a very addictive game that keeps you coming back for more. Highly recommended.

What time is it?
I like the art, even if the demo walkthrough is a little too in love with itself, and level design. Movement looks fun. They probably should have shown more enemy variety as the bats just aren't all that interesting. The wind up on the charge shot versus the additional benefit seem out of whack.
