I'm not sure how to respond to this, but I think I covered it pretty well in my original testicular cancer thread with my updates and my GoFundMe page.

The teratoma is growing and there's nothing to do to treat it other than surgery. It doesn't respond to chemo or radiation so they have to perform the RPLND, which is a massively invasive surgery that has complications, like retrograde ejaculation, which I would ejaculate into my bladder. The teratoma can create issues with the surrounding organs if left intreated or it can turn cancerous. There was a 30% chance that this would happen after my chemo, so I was just a bit unlucky. If left untreated, yes it can be fatal. The original cancer was contained in my testicle and while it didn't spread too much, it could've been a lot worse. If the teratoma becomes cancerous, it will be right within the lymph nodes and it would pretty much be a field day. This is why the constant checkups and early action is really important.

The donations are to cover the time I'm going to be off from work, which will be at minimum a month, the surgeon fees and other fees that the hospital will not cover, like the urologist visits. The hospital stay itself might be covered, partially or fully, but I'm not sure yet. Waiting to hear back. Before this new diagnoses, I was set to go to my regular 3 month checkups to every 6 months, but since they found this lymph node enlarging, I've had to do more tests in a month and a half than I have had to have done all year.

I never really expected this much of a response, but it reminds me of why I love GAF as a community and have been apart of it since 1998.

Early detection is key. It's important to check your testicles for any lumps. My case was different as there was no lumps but my left testicle just got swollen and they originally thought it was something else. Maybe if it had been caught a little earlier in my case, the cancer wouldn't have traveled into my lymph nodes and created this issue 2 years after my diagnoses. But it's the hand that I've been dealt and just trying to stay positive. Thanks for the good thoughts, it's extremely helpful and keeps me going!

Good luck man. Cancer sucks, but as you well know by now it's not a death sentence anymore. My dad's been beating prostate cancer for almost 20 years now.
