FitGAF, I used to post here but it's been awhile. Work got ahold of me and I lost time to post and honestly, stopped watching my diet as well. Luckily it was winter and I got stronger, but now I'm really trying to cut - brutally.

This August will be my 30th birthday and I want to have a 6 pack (or as close I can get genetically) by then. Honestly, and this is kind of sad for me, I've never really been skinny enough to get there before. I've gotten close, but I was a fat kid, then got my self in shape 4 years ago, but I've never been truly "cut." Always carried a little too much fat around still.

The last 2 weeks I've been cutting hardcore and have been really diligent. It's really tough for me though, because right now I'm at about 1700 calories a day (6'1 210). I feel like it should be higher, but I'm tracking everything (I mean everything) and I'm losing about 2lbs a week at this rate. I think I'm going to have to keep cutting like this until the end of May or so.

So anyway, I'm posting here to keep myself motivated. I don't really talk about it in person with a lot of people. I'm not one to try to brag/complain about stuff like this with the people in my life and I don't have a lot of friends that are into fitness. Thought it'd be good to jump back in with you guys.

Thanks!

Welcome to my world of pain. My current go to is 400ml whole milk, scoop of protein, 2 scoops of oats, giant tablespoon of peanut butter, a banana and some olive oil. Sometimes I chuck a spoonful of Nutella in or some ice cream.

3 fucking times a day. Ugh.

Just did this with...

400ml milk,
1 x scoop of protein,
3 x scoop of oats (I should probably steep them overnight, was quite grainy)
40g peanut butter
1 x banana
15g coconut oil

Really tasty (missus said it tasted like a virgin pina colada), but I started to struggle towards the end of it, lol.

Edit - Oh, and apparently I can do walking dragon flags. I've never even tried a dragon flag before but I fancied giving something new a blast tonight. I'm no-where near as smooth / synchronised as Szu, but I can definitely do it.

You came (back) to the right place! Let us know how your progress is going.

Progress most days is something like: I want to eat everything is sight, I'm always hungry, but I'm sticking to my guns.

Just to recap:

This was me 3 years ago or so at 235lbs:

This was me about a year ago (probably the closest I ever got to being "cut") at about 195:

This is my (embarrassing, but I feel like I need to post it if I'm going to commit) weight gain that I was at about 2 weeks ago (though I did almost add about 25% to all my lifts with about a 20lbs weight gain) at about 210lbs:

So now I'm hoping to hit about 185lbs.

Currently my lifts are

Bench (weakest): 265lbs
Back Squat: 385lbs
Front squat: 315lbs
Deadlift: 450lbs
Overhead press: 160lbs
Clean: 265lbs

Hah, yeah I usually need to pump myself up to get the last few mouthfuls down.

I wish I hadn't bought 5kg of protein as the flavour gets really samey after a while. What flavour of protein did you use?

Best advice I can give for when you're cutting is to take progress pics along the way. When you see that weight coming off visibly, not just on the scales, it's a huge motivation. This is coming from someone who has started my first cut in December, it's great to see that progress. I definitely won't make the 6 pack this go (stopping cut in April), but it will be nice to not get too fat when I start cram kin in the food . :)

Been doing that (see above). Plan on continuing to update here at least once a month with progress pics.

OHP is so hard for me. bah

Also, what are your thoughts on BCAAs or amino acid supplements? Worth it? I don't normally take preworkouts or intraworkouts, but I always feel so exhausted in the middle of my workout.

Quoted for help. I know preworkouts have been discussed, just wondering about amino acid supplements

They've never done a thing for me, but everyone is different. OHP is challenging no matter who you are, but my favorite lift.

Unflavoured. Easy to add flavouring with cocoa, peanut butter, coconut oil, nutella etc. :)

Unless you're working out fasted, don't worry about it. Even then it's not essential.

Just keep your diet / macros on point.

Awesome, especially given you clearly don't weigh a lot. How long have you been at it?

If you are working out fasted, BCAAs can help.

If you eat a proper diet, you will throw your money away. You will get plenty of BCAAs from a proper diet. Even on a cut if your protein intake is on point that's plenty of branch chains, IMO.

Press keeps going up, next month will be a fun test.

Press - 105lbs 1x5, 115x3, 130x3
Db Press - 45s 10, 8, 5
Chins - 8, 7, 5 at 193.5

I'm losing about a pound a week it seems, which seems about fine.

Nothing to be embarrassed about man. We're all in here working on something.

Just keep grinding and knocking down short term and long term goals

On average, how many scoops of protein powder do you guys use each day and about how long does a 2lb tub last you?
Usually a 1/2 scoop a day for me. If I cook extra chicken to hit my protein goal then I'll skip the whey. Just calculate by servings to know how long the tub will last for you. Also, what brand you using?

I started lifting 1 year ago, 7th March 2015 to be exact. Played tennis for 3 years before that.

Good shit man. Your form looks great, good depth. How tall are/how much do you weigh?
1.77m / 5' 10" tall and my weight is currently at 84kg/185lbs. Gained a little bit too much weight over the last couple of weeks. Here are some comparison pictures: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=197695119&highlight=#post197695119

Easy! Also gave you a follow
Thanks dude, appreciate it!

I remember seeing your room and PC setup a while ago and being in awe. Now I'm in awe of your gains too. Keep it up man!
Haha, too bad I don't use all my stuff that often anymore. My priorities changed over time as I kept progressing.

Impressive stuff, but what's with the #halfnatty hashtag? You juicing or are you just trying to get more visibility with your posts?
Matt Ogus is kind of my idol in terms of strength and physique and he is joking about this halfnatty thing. And yeah, I get more likes with this hashtag ^^

Hey all - first time posting here.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced what I think is bicep tendon pain (near the region the arm bends, on the inside)?

I've had this for about a month now. Outside of the gym I only occasionally get a bit of pain but I've had to stop doing bicep exercises and back exercises that use the biceps a lot. Just holding a heavy weight (think deadlifts) doesn't cause any pain.

I would of thought this would have fixed itself by now but nope. Wondering if there is something I could do.

Almost forgot, l also do hip pushups (if anyone knows what they are). They also cause pain in this area, though I don't understand why.

You must have been reasonably strong beforehand because that's some good weight for a year of training.
I was actually pretty weak. I had to start with 25kg bench press for 8 reps. I kept linearly progressing and I still do. I'm just waiting for the wall to hit me. It can't keep going forever like that :O

oh man I hate cutting. makes you look so small when wearing clothes

I've got rid of dat stomach bulge I previously had, but my shoulders, arms and chest look smaller, though still no six pack (unless i flex in the bathroom) - figured if my body fat is low enough to see my abs, then it'll be a good opportunity for me to do a proper lean bulk.

can't wait to be done with this.

THIS. I hate it so much. I look TINY unless I'm wearing a polo or something.
"Oh, YOU lift weights?"
Fuuuuu...
All my friends have commented on how much slimmer I look. Heh.

Another thing I dislike is how I can't lift the same weights as I previously could. My bench has suffered considerably. :\

I thought cutting was supposed to make you look bigger.

No comments for me either way on this cut, but I have a strong suspicion my face looks a lot better. Randos say hi to me a lot more often.

Half a desiliter per day mostly so ~20g of my protein. Honestly I find it so easy to get enough protein from normal foods (because you don't need that much) that I hardly need whey anymore. I just use it because it's the easiest way to get something into the system in the morning post workout. Can't be bothered to eat food at that hour.

My daily intake is around 140g as I'm cutting so 120g comes from meat and other sources. I actually find it hard to stay at that number and still eat meat. Tends to go over so easily.

What did you start with lower body? Because going from beginner to that in a year is excellent at your weight.

Bigger when naked maybe, certainly not when clothed. Your muscles lose a fair bit of their size.

That's definitely what I experienced. I got quite a few comments of "oh did you start going to the gym?" After most of my weight loss 🙆🏻

I do not feel like cheating today. Had a nice, big cheat meal last night that satisfied me. Think I'll fast for a bit here and ride a Bish high.

I had 5 big pieces of pizza and gelato yesterday and my weight didn't budge. But I admit I went into that dinner with 1300 calories still available. Today my dad wants to go to Cracker Barrel for his birthday. Haven't eaten there in years and I don't think I like it there. Not sure what I'll get.

Pro tip: when you've gone 5 months without much sun, wear sun block on vacation

Tomato status?

What did you have?

Last night, I had my first 'actual' cheat meal in a long time. It was a crepe smothered in chocolate. Don't know how many calories it was, but I'm guessing lots. I weighed in lighter than usual, lmao (between 70-71kg).
