How about the Wii U? Did DQX reach good number for the Wii U?

If I remember well, it did alright for WiiU and for the usual DQX numbers. I don't remember how much (I'm sure someone has the numbers), but it should probably be close to 150-200k all extensions combined.

Rakuten Books Sales Ranking (2016.06.02)

01./01. [PSV] Dragon Quest Heroes II: Futago no Ou to Yogen no Owari <RPG> (Square Enix)
02./02. [PS4] Dragon Quest Heroes II: Futago no Ou to Yogen no Owari <RPG> (Square Enix)
03./05. [PS3] Dragon Quest Heroes II: Futago no Ou to Yogen no Owari <RPG> (Square Enix)

Rakuten is never right, but it would be funny if the Vita version started closing the gap. The difference is probably too great for PS4 to cede the LTD lead overall, but making it close would be a solid showing for a version that was ignored by Sony promos, and on a platform that probably isn't going to get another DQ game.

I don't think we ever got any concrete number (maybe mpl90 has something).

But anyway, really goes to show how well a proper Minecraft, at retail, would have done on 3DS. Even now, Battleminer (another Minecraft clone that's been selling better than CC3D since launch) still remain in the eShop Top 10 week after week.
The numbers say 150k+ through November. I think that makes it the best selling Arc System Works game in years, they should really consider doing a retail release for in Japan.

Well, last week I pointed out Vita version selling better than expectations and so they were. In this case, it's only a daily ranking so obviously is not representative at all. I do think, though, Vita version will close the gap but not at the levels of actually selling better than the PS4 version.

A retail release for a game that costs less than 1000 yen isn't happening.

19./22. [WiiU] Pokkén Tournament # <FTG> (Pokémon Co.) {2016.03.18} (¥7.200) - 11.763 / 136.478 (-5%)

So Pokken did 11k in may, down 5% from a month ago, and hasn't had a price drop yet right? Is it showing some legs, or no?

It's LTD is still a bit below my expectations so far.

I know this is Japan thread and all, but i see many guys some times wonder how "X" game is doing in the west.

Well, it's only one market, but holy shit Yokay Watch in Spain is a monster!

After 5 weeks of sales, it was never out of TOP 5 (even with new release like Uncharted, DOOM, OverWatch ecc), and look at numbers! (not precise, and very rounded, but still)

[WEEK 1] ~6,000 (only one SKUs)
[WEEK 2] a bit less than 6,000 (only one SKUs)
[WEEK 3] over 3,000 (only one SKUs)
[WEEK 4] over 4,000, but under 4,500 (all SKUs combined)
[WEEK 5] over 4,200 but under 4,300 (all SKUs combined)

Total lifetime sales combined all SKUs: >26,000+

Sales for the others big games in Spain this year first week:
1) Uncharted 4 (PS4) ~ 80,000 (>100K total)
2) The Division (PS4) ~ 26,000
3) Dark Souls III (PS4) ~ 18,000

I know it's only first week the numbers above but jesus, even only sells the first week numbers of The Division is kinda insane, not to mention that with those insane legs it will definitively end well over that, There are 99% chance that Yokay Watch lifetime sales will be bigger than The Division lifetime sales (on PS4) at retail in Spain. :O

(btw, second week for The Division on PS4 was 7,000).

If France is similar to Spain, then Yokay Watch gonna sell some very amazing numbers in Europe.

Well, thanks for that! :)
Remembered DQX doing well on Wii, forgot that it did as much as this on WiiU. Pretty nice all things considered imo!

Has there been any news about the PS4 (and NX...) version since last year btw?

edit: shortened the quote with just the totals (so it wouldn't be too big), but pretty interesting to see the full numbers for each extension!

May is usually a great month for kid products, since most children at the age of 10 celebrate the rite where they eat for the first time that cathlolic sacremental bread. After the ceremony, the family and friends of the parents have lunch in a restaurant and they get a bunch of gifts from the people that was invited.

Somehow, even people that isn't Catholic want their kids to celebrate that rite.

And kids want to do it because they are gifted quite a lot of stuff.

I got a PS1 and a GBA at mine, if I remember correctly.

In this case, it's more kind of an adjustment for the last month. I'm not sure about this, but iirc last month Pokkén didn't chart the last or last two weeks, so April was uncomplete, that gap is covered by May in this case. I'm not sure, though.

It didn't have a price drop, and I think most of folks here expected between 150k - 200k, so it could be below expectations.

5 weeks for May, first 2 of them belonging at Golden Week. I wouldn't call them legs.

Pokken still hasn't managed to sell its initial shipment. I think it would be fair to call it one of the worst selling Pokemon spin-off.

Sony isn't making another handheld, so their incentive at this point is to push the PS4 above all else.

People who aren't transitioning sooner than later are more likely to end up on mobile or the NX handheld, so I'm expecting them to make aggressive pushes over the next nine months.

In the end it's a market Sony can pretty easily throw the towel in for, but they like selling Japanese content overseas as a differentiator, so they'd like enough of a Japanese install base for that to feel more comfortable for Japanese developers.

sony is doing what nintendo have done in the last 20 years : pushing a system and leaving to its destiny the other

They still make first-party games, at least, for the console they leave to destiny. :p

I think that aggression has already started as Takao has noted with the messaging around these releases. We can probably also look at titles like Toukiden 2/Kiwami, which seems to be dead in the water in its attempts to transition to a braoder/western appeal while also cramming in the PS4 for a PSV title.

And I think whatever transition was too occur, has already for the most part happened. The remaining users of the Vita are still going to get treated by third parties who won't go on PS4-only suicide runs. The audience still on the Vita is going to stay there until either (a.) they attrition to null through mobile and other offerings, or (b.) devs slowly stop making games for them (which I don't think will happen soon if the PSP is any indication). Transitioning between generations on the console front (PS3 to PS4) is one thing as form-factor and function remain effectively identical. But trying to force an audience to move cross form-factors is going to be a lot harder, if not ultimately fruitless.

I'd sooner expect us to start seeing PSV/NX-HH than I do PS4/NX-HH. Of course, this also depends on whatever the NX handheld is, and if Nintendo messes it all up or not.

And from when we spoke of this months ago, I think Nintendo stands to carve out the niche of "games from Japan" given the loss of a Vita successor given the landscape of Japan.

With another FF (remaster, and this has been on the rumor mill for ages now so it was expected) coming to market, I am going to start to wonder if SE isn't going to bleed that well dry. At this point, actually, I'd ask which well is going to bleed dry faster: DQ or FF.

Also no Vita on the FFXII Remaster, and given what they've shown of it so far (upscaling filters on old/original assets) which largely seems low-effort and quick turn-around, makes me think that its absence was "requested" rather than technically limited.

Also, Capcom's mystery 2mil is DR4?

Well it looks like, at least on COMG, Yokay Watch 3 pre orders are very, VERY bad compared to the others games

40 days left:

Yokay Watch 2: 435pt
Yokay Watch Busters: 329pt
Yokay Watch 3: 216pt

So World of Final Fantasy is on October 27th.

That's 2 FF games in less than a month for PS4, also same day as the new SAO.

Has the anime's popularity waned at all? How's the advertising compared to 2 and Busters?

The anime doesn't seem to get the ratings it once did and I would be shocked if they're skimping on the advertising, especially when you consider that Busters was a spinoff.

They have to put Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 somewhere in the 2016 calendar too. November maybe.

Leave SE alone for a second please. They just have one day of GAF forgetting to hate them.

Its crazy. We may get four FF games in two years, if they don't decide to remaster VI, VIII, and IX for 2017 while they're at it.

I am not hating on them, I am more observing the excavation of their IP.

PS4's line up is rather barren from here until Tales of Berseria, but from then we have.

Tales of Berseria
Persona 5
Final Fantasy XV
Battefield 1
World of Final Fantasy
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
and Gran Turismo Sport

As big games with set release dates, apart from that more middle and small games like SAO, Winning Eleven, FIFA and Dishonored as well.

On big games without release dates, there's stuff like Yakuza 6 and Ni Oh, Everybody's Golf as well, though we haven't heard from that in a long time.

There's also stuff I don't know what to think about or not really 2016 releases, like Rise of the Tomb Raider and The Last Guardian.

And finally Resident Evil 7 and possible Monster Hunter and from all we know more Dragon Quest.

It's a great line up.
