Have they discussed scanning the Sheikah Slates at the entrances of the shrines? Will Link be prevented from accessing certain shrines until he has collected certain items or completed specific tasks?

Did anyone mention yet that you can beat the game right from the start? I read that in an IGN article yesterday and thought that was pretty major, but haven't seen it mentioned on GAF anywhere.

Please can someone point me to the gameplay where the last to gifs come from - I have a plan to write a little piano piece based on a storm encounter with one of those guardians?

Overall I think this looks fantastic, looking forward to see any visual improvements in the NX version, but I do think they should increase the saturation a tad more, made a quick comparison

Oh and I also made an iphone wallpaper, if anyone cares :)

Not that I recall. When they showed the first shrine they said it was the first one but then prefaced it with the fact that you didn't have to do it first and I think that you could skip it if you wanted.

But I'm a bit confused as the Old Man requires you to give him the treasure(s) from the Shrines to get his Glider. I'm not sure if you just have to complete one or all 4(?) that on the Great Plateau before he'll give you the Glider. If that's the case then they can ensure you have the majority of he Rune abilities.

If that's not the case and you only need to complete 1 of them I figured that any Shrine you entered would have one of those tear drop data pedestals. So if you go into a higher difficulty Shrine and you somehow happen to not have the associated Rune ability to complete it they will have a pedestal there for you to acquire that Rune.

So I'm told the E3 demo doesn't have an option to invert the Y axis of the camera. This is deeply concerning. I struggle so hard playing games that don't let you do this.

Who do we need to yell at until Nintendo gets the point and adds this option?

Does anyone know if you can turn off the behavior wherein the game pauses and shows you something that you just picked up, forcing you to press a button to continue? I feel like that interrupts gameplay and would prefer that a notification popped up on the side of the screen for about 1 second, disappeared on its own and gameplay continued.

The stream seemed a bit undersatured. The other vids seem more saturated. The direct feed screens also look a bit more saturated.

EDIT: And I think your edit is too saturated.

I don't think anything has been said about an option like that. They did say that the screen that pops up only pops up the first time you pick up an item. After that you get a notification on the side of what you picked up.

Okay I just found something that I don't think has been mentioned:

This mountain appears both in the trailer and in the Gamestop stream, but I just noticed that it looks like there's a huge spherical chunk taken out of it! Really very cool looking, and I can't wait to visit that mountain

That's only for the first time you pick up new item, other times it will show a notification on the side

From what we've seen it only shows the notification the first time you find an item and for treasure chest items, after that it pops up on the side. I'm not sure if it resets every playthrough but let's hold out for an option.

I sure would hope it doesn't work the same as it does in Skyward Sword (resetting the notifications when you exit the game), given how many times they strongly emphasized that it only shows up once. Seemed like they were really trying to reassure fans it wouldn't be that awfulness again without saying as much. I don't think they ever clarified specifically that notifications don't reset upon exiting the game though.

So crazy. When they announced that they'd primarily be focusing on Zelda I was worried, worried there wouldn't be enough to show or satisfy me in what I guessed would be a pretty watered down E3.( yeah a secret worry lol)
Now that I've watched the conference several times I'm equally troubled I haven't seen or heard enough to quench my Zelda thirst! What's beyond the plateau, what will the story reveal, which races are involved, what will the towns be like, can I boost my stamina meter...so many damn questions!
I will say that 1080 video was gorgeous, this is Zelda perfection straight across the board. Now for the long wait...I can only hope for Nintendo to release more artwork and info as we go along.

I'd think with how they handled TPHD people wouldn't sweat over this so much. It's a demo so obviously it's not programmed to remember when you picked up stuff before after turning it off or after it resets as it starts, again, from before any of that happened when the demo starts up. It's not saving that information to then say, upon start-up, "ok don't show these notifications again".

Food has a heart value

If it has a value over your current amount/maximum, the extra shows up as yellow hearts, which aren't refillable without eating.

I don't think this is true, though I may be wrong. From what I remember of the recipe-crafting section, you can make consumables that specifically extend your life meter. Eating foods which simply count for more life than you lost will only fill up your meter to max, regardless of how many hearts it replenishes.

Man all of this looks great. I hope they move the stamina bar below the hearts rather than have it be a circle close to link when consuming stamina. It looks ugly as sin and breaks immersion having a UI element so close to the main character.

Any way we can provide feedback on that?

At this point my only concern are downgrades when the game releases.

Because they nail pretty much everything else.

Day one!

Yeah in order to get the yellow hearts, you have to concoct that special shishkabob looking thang

Honestly, I find hunting to be a bit of a weird inclusion at all. Hunting to me has always seemed like a fairly grizzly affair. It fits in something like Red Dead Redemption because of the era, it fits in something like The Witcher because of the tone and the premise. But Zelda games are colorful fairy-tales about a nice boy named Link. It kind of fucks with my head canon of who Link is to think that he'd have no problems putting an arrow through a deer's neck.

This Link seems a bit feral

You just noticed? That was one of my favorite scenes in the trailer :p I assume the mountain was blasted by a really big laser.

Is this true? I cannot play without inverted controls.

Just wanted to point out that there's no hunting in The Witcher. I mean, you could try and kill some wild animals but it's not hunting.

This game puts such a fucking smile on my face. I haven't been this hyped to play a game, since the day I replayed the intro to Metroid Prime, and realized that it was actually fucking awesome. It's been longer than that since an upcoming release really had me hyped like this. Maybe GTA IV, maaaybe. It feels so weird to say this, but I think I'm gonna have to replay MGSV while I wait, lol

That bottom image is actually closer to what the game actually looks like, far as I can tell. I think their stream had some gamma issue or something because the game looked way more vibrant being played on actual HDTVs
