Never say never. Him getting under 40% of the vote is possible. If clinton can get closer to the mid 50's for popular support on election day and Johnson gets a high enough percentage of the vote he will end up getting below 40% of the vote.

Outspending your opponent isn't always a good thing. IIRC Linda McMahon lost her senate race because a hurricane hit Connecticut and over a weekend people stayed to watch tv... where her attack ads were almost on a constant loop.
Then people felt sympathetic for the person Linda was attacking.

Honestly, how much does Hillary need to attack? Trump himself is making the case for his inability to lead by going on TV and saying dumb shit as if it's as necessary as breathing to him.
Maybe she should cut a "Daisy"-style ad, but otherwise, she should spend on positive ads that explain exactly what she plans to do and contrasts those clear, well-considered plans with the garbage that Trump is spewing (mostly indirectly and maybe in a few of the ads, directly).

Seems like the smart thing to do is use the same strategy that worked at the convention: air a lot of ads touting Hillary Clinton's accomplishments, and a lot of ads featuring footage of things Trump has said out loud in public. Make a contrast.

Trump should be advertising heavily in the media market I'm in. I have seen only one anti-Hillary ad, and it's only been in the last few days. It's a negative ad about outsourcing.
On the other hand, I've seen quite a few Hillary ads. The best one is the children ad. That really sticks in your mind. Also, with his recent vomit mouth it's reinforcing the story in the media. So I think that's a good one. I've seen a few others which were more pro-Hillary. Then tehre are the ones with Trump making fun of the disabled that is incredibly effective too.
The best ads airing right now are the ones attacking Strickland. Incredibly effective.
Trump is definitely the "wrecking ball inside" the GOP's brain right now.

If people still support this guy after the biggest post convention clusterfuck I've ever seen, they've already lost my respect. Though being honest, given the constant racist shit they didn't really have it in the first place.

I think whoever it was earlier who said Trump's need for attention will get the best of him during the Olympics will probably be proven right. He's practically destined to say or do something outrageously stupid just to put the spotlight back on him.
But it's coming from Donald Trump. Everything he's ever done is treating America like it's exceptional. I'm sure this would hurt him with his supporters more than the things that have been coming out today.

I watched campaigns like this one before. I still think nothing in this campaign will touch some of the crap candidates during the election campaign for the Canadian federal election last year.
