Mario Kart 8 Deluxe confirmed (with playable Inkling, new Battle Mode, etc.)

Battle Mode? Bowser Jr? Splatoon crossover content? The trailer continued to improve upon itself with every passing moment. MK8 was one of my most-played online titles when my Wii U worked, alongside SSB and Splatoon. The additions are really selling me on picking this up eventually.

As someone who played the hell out of Mario Kart 8, I am firmly in the "no new race tracks, no buy" camp.

Maaaaybe if I can get it really cheap. but at $60, not a chance.

The thing that stands out the most to me is how dirty Nintendo did Mario Kart today.

This is a huge franchise, arguably their biggest, and they don't even put the trailer in the presentation? Then they don't even put the release date in the trailer (which is only a month after the console itself), and instead hide it in a press release? Huh?

The trailer is literally 92 seconds and they can't find the time to show it. I don't get it.

At minimum they should have added 2 new cups. Kind of absurd that we finally get characters we want and a proper battle mode but for 60 dollars again.

Battle mode is great but there needs to be more new content they haven't announced yet in this game if Nintendo expects WiiU Mario Kart 8 owners to double dip. This can't be a barebones "definitive" edition.

It's a rerelease though. Splatoon was a sequel at least.

Huh, sadly may have to skip out on this.

I have hundreds of hours on the Wii U version already. Why would they charge 60 for those that already own it.... I don't see enough to justify the price of an entirely new game.

What time is it?
I think this would have been an ideal pack-in. It would encourage people to sign up for Nintendo online and they could build more tracks/cups and offer them as DLC.

It's a rerelease. This isn't even the actual Switch MK game, which will surely come out eventually

Oh yes, right, forgot about the now paid-for online, which makes the full retail price even less interesting since a huge chunk of the game is now locked behind that gate.

I don't understand how they could be so greedy when they had such an amazing opportunity.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been begging for this to make a comeback in literally ever MK since the original!

I'm actually skeptical that we'll ever see MK9 on Switch.

I think it's more likely they go with some other mascot racer, possibly the rumored Diddy Kong Racing 2.

You think they're never going to make a Mario Kart on Switch

one of their most successful series in the history of the company

the only title on Wii U to be a sales success even outside of that system's vacuum

The original trailer got taken down for some reason, here is the official re-uploaded MK8 Deluxe trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKlRN2YpxRE

I'm hoping someone can do a graphical comparison soon, it looks to me that the 1080p resolution does fix a lot of the jaggies, but hard to see exactly due to YouTube compression.

If native 1080p is confirmed, I wonder if they'll do 720p60 for 3/4-player TV splitscreen (Wii U version cuts framerate down to 30 fps) or 1080p30.

I think MK8D is supposed to fill that role.

Then again if there are no new racing tracks it's less robust than rumored.

the launch line up wouldnt be a problem to me if Mario Kart had a good single player moder akin to the World Tour mode of the Sonic kart racing games of a few years back.

Standard tournaments just don't do anything for me:(
