Badly timed rubbish joke. But come on, forcing censorship on attempts of humor? Comedy has made light of, and got us through, some very dark periods in history. Let's not fall down that rabbit hole.
What is the censorship supposed to be here, if I may ask?

Let me be clear that not this joke in particular but several of this ilk have lead me into bad times. Not world ending or anything but they made me feel worse for listening to them.

Many of their mocking jokes honestly just come off as unnecessarily mean spirited and are generally awful that I question if they're worth it. Like is it so funny to shit one people that like certain games for the "joke". Is it so funny to belittle people's "struggles"?
Is it so funny to rile people up on "purpose"? These people are far smarter than that and I totally believe they have the capacity for good spirited humor and have no need to rely on that shit but maybe I'm wrong.

Now maybe I'm the one that should just "grow a thicker skin" but when it's something that just happens again and again and again I have to wonder why I even try to subject myself to it. Why am I just trying to shrug it all off? KF for me felt like death by 1000 cuts. In isolation any one of them honestly even to me seemed harmless but it wears on you when it happens frequently enough.

At some point the insight/entertainment I gained was just simply outweighed by the negativity and toxicity I felt. But I guess let's just keep dropping "it's just a joke defense".

More power to Colin if he feels that shit is necessary to the person he is. I won't tell anyone what they can or can't say all one can do is ask for empathy.
I'm honestly even sorry for continuing to post. I think the message was pretty clear that for people like me it's just better to ignore everything around them.
-----------------
Edit: God jesus I've only just started to read some of the comments on the tweets.... urgh nah I'm out I don't want anything to do with this anymore if that's the kind of community KF is ok with and Colin wants to nurture(and indeed going by some of his comments he does nurture that shit) indeed fuck me.... it actually hurts to read and bums me out so much man and I have 0 need for it. Goodbye KF, I guess good riddance for the both of us..... :(

No one is trying to censor Colin, in fact the mere suggestion of that comes across like the typical “Its just a joke” response, disregarding any other context. People just want Colin to acknowledge that his ‘joke’ was ill advised and counterproductive to what the very day was about and continues a harmful stereotype. The reason I used quotation marks is that its clear Colin likes to say controversial shit to get a rise out of ‘liberal SJW’s’ and then play the victim once people rightly criticise his comments/actions.

Also saying this to someone, even a woman on a face to face basis could be fine if everyone involved is aware of the context of the joke and have established that sort of rapport with each other but posting this on Twitter to the general public is the equivalent of standing on the street corner shouting “A day without women is a day of peace and quiet”.

I don't understand the backlash. What's so wrong with a little peace and quite at work?
Im assuming you are joking but just in case you aren’t, the ‘joke’ is that women are loud and annoying and that a day without them brings peace and quiet. This of course is the perpetuation of a sexist idea and does nothing but allow this thought to continue to exist by allowing people to think that its ok to publically joke, on International Women’s day that women do nothing but ruin peace and quiet times by their mere presence.

It is the equivalent of making a joke about Mexicans being lazy or black people liking chicken – stereotypes that are harmful and do nothing but allow shitty opinions to continue to grow when they should be stomped out.

Colin is welcome to say whatever stupid, tasteless, unfunny jokes he wants to. Freedom of speech works both ways though, it's not freedom from being criticised and if his peers no longer want to associate with him and some viewers no longer want to subscribe to or patron KF that's their choice too.

Nobody is trying to censor Colin, there are just consequences to being an insufferable prat.

Offputting when you have a number of women either from IGN or former workmates tweet that its in bad taste, and they get flooded by males (quick look suggests majority white male) bitch about SJW's and *its just a joke lighten up*.

It won't be long before Colin starts his own dipshit conservative youtube channel where he can wallow in the adulation of socially awkward weirdos that have obscene political views.

That will be a good day for Kinda Funny.

I don't understand the backlash. What's so wrong with a little peace and quite at work?

Brian Altano put it well earlier. Up until a couple months ago Colin didn't even work with any women, and certainly no one would describe the meek born-again christian Joey Noelle as loud or anything less than peaceful. Meanwhile Greg and the other guys are some of the loudest internet personalities there are. So who could Colin have possibly been referring to with his exclamation of peace and quiet?

The answer is he's not referring to any women specifically. He's making the tired and sexist joke that women are louder, less peaceful and more annoying than men.

If this was a new insight, if this was a joke nobody had told before, if there was a seed of truth to this, almost nobody would be complaining. But Colin is so full of himself that he chose to use a day for celebrating other people to bring attention to himself, his own so-called cleverness, at the cost of those for whom the day was was supposed to be celebrating. He's not a hero. He's not witty. He's a humorless sack of shit with incredible double standards. If he's free to make shitty jokes then he's free to be held accountable for them. That's the free market.

Nifty AND saffron-colored!
I am someone that watches stuff adjacent to Kinda Funny, and they might have been a site I would gravitate towards if I needed something new. But the shit that keeps popping up from Colin is so god damn off putting that I'm not gonna go near KF while he's there, fuck that dude. And fuck the community that has built around defending that sorry dipshit, as long as they're attached to KF that brand is just toxic to me.

Oh good, he spoke to him in private as I hoped. Well, at least that's done.
Check out Colins follow up tweet where he posts a flag with freedom on it that was used during the revolution.

So he basically shit all over Greggs apology by digging his heels in again after the apology was posted, showing that he doesnt feel sorry about anything he has done and in fact feels (as usual) like he is the hero/victim here, defending against those social justice warriors from trying to censor him and take away his freedom.

People aren't as stupid as Colin thinks. This whole "It's just a joke" thing is imo a shield or more accurately a blanket he hides under in order to express his opinion and then play victim when people take issue with it and paint everyone else as "humorless" or make a point about "outrage culture" when truly the scenario he finds himself in is more akin to pissing in someone's cornflakes while they're eating them and acting hurt and victimized when they say "You're a prick for pissing in my cereal"

Anyone who follows or knows anything about him can accurately make the assumption that he likely doesn't think much for the Women's Strike, much like he condescendingly dismissed the Women's March. His girlfriend's tweets expressing her disdain for the Woman's Strike support this imo. Everyone knows it. Greg, Tim, Nick and Kevin have probably all heard him be dismissive about it off-air in their personal lives. And they know in their hearts it wasn't simply a harmless little joke that Colin made just to be cute or funny.

And so to anyone with a pair of eyes his "dumb joke" that he made TODAY was a belittlement of women around the country who are striking for something they believe in when faced with Government controlling their bodies, their healthcare and birth control, unequal pay, a populace that elected a man who sexually assaults women, and in general being treated as inferior to men. Rather than sit quietly Colin had to express himself. The joke itself doesn't matter. The intent behind is clearly to disrespect and make light of something very important to a lot of people

If it was just a "Dumb Joke" perhaps he could have tempered the response he received with any kind of expression of respect or even compassion for women around the country struggling to make an impact. Or since he likely doesn't care for the idea sit quietly and keep his fucking mouth shout for one day. But no, what's important is that Colin Moriarty, youtube personality gets to "make his dumb little joke" and have a laugh, a laugh in the face of people on a day where they are trying to accomplish something so they can be seen as equals to men. It demonstrates a clear disrespect for the struggles other people under go and is an just another in an ongoing display of a lack of empathy or understanding for others.

And while I'm here. "White Privilege" doesn't mean if you're white you have an easy life and your personal struggles and hard work don't matter or were any less hard. Newsflash, everyone has a hard life. Everyone has to work hard to survive and make something of their lives. It means that other non-white groups face an additional struggle on top of the normal struggle everybody goes through. Admitting that doesn't mean you didn't work hard or that you don't deserve what you have. It means you recognize an imbalance in the way we treat others.

Oh and guess what "Diversity for the sake of diversity" is a great thing. Think about the kid who gets to play a game or see a movie or read a book and see someone who looks like them. That matters. That's important. That's something we can never understand because there has never been a moment in our lives where we lacked that.

I unfollowed him because of this so I didn't see it. His tweets have become unbearable to me and actually made me dislike him and KF more and more. Haven't been keeping up with the shows because of it as well. I always respected his opinions about video games and entertainment but he's such a brat about everything else. He needs to remember that not everyone agrees with his views and he needs to be a bit more respectful to his peers and fans about it.

It's like a self fulfilling policy; always talk about how the left is overtly PC, wanting to censor your rights and stifle free speech so when you say a dumb ass thing you can fall back on that original point and play victim. And hey profit with right wing lunatics inflating your ego and pat yourself on the back thinking the left is out to get you.

I vehemently disagreed with him for a lot of the time ans tried to give him the benefit of the doubt (even though I always felt he lacked empathy with minorities and it was lip service), but I think his stubbornness, arrogance and disregard to his best friends, coworkers, women and a lot of other people is my final straw with him, and tbh it's been a long time coming; it should have been a long time ago considering some of his earlier problematic views and attitude. And I naively tried to always say attack his arguments not him, but it's easy to see why people do the latter because he invites that sort of stuff, and tbh, have no sympathy anymore when you write inflammatory dumb stuff AND double down on it, on Twitter of all places.

If you take a look at the history and demographics where Colin comes from, it doesn't surprise me he is the way he is, an entitled, coddled, narcissistic, habitual line stepper looking to stir controversy because he is such a loser. That's why Greg said they are losing subs but Colin doesn't care because they are in the black.
I can't help but hear "habitual line stepper" in Charlie Murphy's voice. Hilarious, but annoying!

The only reason I know about it is that someone posted it earlier, I unfollowed everything Kinda Funny due to Colin and only pop in when the threads are bumped to see if anything has changed but if anything it seems to be getting worse.

The funny thing about your point is that it reminds me how Colin cant practice what he preaches. He is forever going on how there needs to be a dialogue between people with differing opinions and that reasoned debate needs to happen yet he is constantly (and deliberately most of the time I bet) saying stuff just to wind people up and get a response and then when they do respond and express their concerns with what he has said/done he always responds with at least one angry tweet/rant about how wrong everyone else is and then retreats to his bunker, only to pop out when its either blown over or he has spent time drafting a massive response for Facebook to shut the haters up. He also tends to ignore most valid comments and focus on the most extreme ones.

I do wonder how this situation is going to play out since it seems like it has the potential to get a lot bigger.

If Colin did his usual tactic of attack and hide it would have probably just blown over but considering Tim has commented on his disapproval of the type of people supporting Colin in this and Gregg had to write an apology just for Colin to then go back out and double down on his position, I cant imagine this is the end of it.

But what happens? Colin could apologise but after seeing how he reacted since I cant imagine anything but some transparent bullshit apology. Gregg I cant see doing another response since Colin has just wiped his arse with that. They could publicly do nothing but you then run the risk of creating an even bigger divide between the fan base.

Whatever happens this isnt a good situation for the team, if they do something it could cause a rift between them and potentially do serious harm to their business but if they do nothing they either push fans away or cater more and more to the dregs of the internet who take everything that Colin does as gospel.

So happy that I pulled my Patreon support months ago and gave it to Danny O'Dwyer who actually puts out good content.

Colin needs to grow up so much. He's a little man baby
who can't even hold a mouse and keyboard.

He's a real embarrassment these days.

Christ, those comments on the statement from Greg

Their fans are idiots
I decided to read the comments on Colin's flag tweet response, god damn.

The amount of 'shit of your friends to not have your back, you should leave' or 'I will support you no matter what' or 'It was just a joke'comments is crazy. Then you have people who have changed their account names to 'I stand with Colin M'.

I just wonder what its like to live a day in these peoples lives, like does anyone who criticises something someone says come across like some snarling liberal beast that suffers from Schrodinger's outrage - both real and manufactured rage at the same time?

At this rate, Colin's going to turn their audience into another swarm of trolling boys like most other gaming channels on YouTube. Sad to see, and entirely avoidable.

He'll continue to blame people not liking his politics, when it's entirely down to him being a deliberately inflammatory troll. I've actually often found his political views interesting, but there's nothing interesting about being yet another man on the internet getting kicks out of "triggering" people.

Take a look at people responding to his tweet or some of the Reddit responses, filled to the brim with *SJWs ruining everything again* *PC Culture triggered again* decent chunk of the auidence is already that.

Holy moly, I've just caught up witch this shit storm.

Really insensitive joke by Colin on women's day no less 🤦🏽*♂️
Hopefully he will learn from this, I'm a big fan of his work minus the politics.

Who's asking for censorship?

Demanding an apology or demanding he remove the tweet is censorship. And for what? A dad joke? People don't want to be referred to as "Outrage Culture" or "SJW's" but don't help their own case when they get mad about trivial shit like this.

Check out this Bill Maher bit about "Stop Apologizing" (if you haven't seen it already). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaC1-U8LIY0
It's everything that we liberals should pay attention to if we wish to actually make progress.

the arguments of "but Free Speech!" and "censorship" only apply to the government.

private citizens can, have, and will continue to tell Colin to shut the fuck up and go the fuck away.

Yup. It was seeing those responses that made me realise the audience is turning/has turned.

Which sucks, because when they started out, they put a lot of effort into cultivating a positive community and urging the community to self-police and keep things pleasant. It worked, and it was encouraging to see.

But when you invite trolls into your house, that falls apart. The Pepe crowd thrive on creating discord, it's their whole game. They will destroy the KF community and turn it into another of their anarchic internet wastelands.

Nobody here is asking him to apologise or to delete his tweet, we are talking about his shitty attitude and how his co worker and one of his best friend had to come out and apologized on his behalf just so people would stop talking about Colin's shitty attitude. We are talking about how that aplogy is great but means shit since we all know Colin will never apologise for what he said because in his mind he is a martyr and everything he says is right no matter if anyone else gets offended.

So you don't want an apology, but an apology would be great, but he won't give an apology, but his co-workers did. Did you really follow-up, "WTF are you talking about?", with that?

Please go back and watch the video link I posted, because I think you will see where I'm trying to come from.
