The Black Culture Thread |OT18| - Ma-ma-ma-MAXIMUM! Haram Achieved

So, as a writing exercise I've been thinking about how I would design sequences in a horror game, and I came up with an idea for one that I want to post to get feedback on.

Imagine you're driving down a dark highway like in Glitchhikers or Dead End Road, but with brief flashes forward in time. Eventually, you slow down and pass by a hitchhiker on the side of the road whose face is obscured.

You keep driving, with more flashes in time. Eventually, the radio you're listening to starts sounding blurry. You look in the rearview mirror and see the form of the hitchhiker running down the highway after your car, and they're gaining.

The voices on the radio start getting slower and deeper, like they're drowning in molasses. Light begins flashing over your car like someone shining a flashlight down on you through a giant fan.

Every time you look in your rearview mirrors the figure is closer. It begins warping, its limbs at different lengths and it's running at an angle so that one leg is longer than the other. The voices on the radio are deep, and getting louder and louder until you want to take your earphones off. The figure is very close now, and you can just make out in the darkness an unnaturally shining face, like a light bulb inside of someone's head, and blurry features like the twins at the end of the hallway in the Shining.

Instead of telling you how this sequence ends, I just want to ask one question: How fast would you turn this game off?

EDIT: Basically, the faster you'd turn it off, the more likely I am to use it in a project one day.

I conflicted on FF 15, i like the setting but the character designs annoy me. Everyone looks too perfect, like there is an army personal stylists just off screen

in VR this would be scary as fuck. especially if you put in some input lag so you have to work extra hard to get away.

That's what I like to hear.

Someday I want to make a game that gives people literal heart attacks.

EDIT: Also that's a really good idea that I hadn't even considered.

some day i will also make games. comics. and animation.

I would even settle for importing comiket stuff and selling it via store front as a side thing.

Store called Kitty Porn™?

KittyPron, gordo. how did you know?

What's stopping you? The sooner you start learning how the better. We live in an era now where anyone can make any of those things, as long as they gain the skill.

got tons of ideas, settings, characters and the like.

well I need an artist, and to pay an artist I need capital. I also need to learn storyboarding. I was pricing overseas shops, and for about $5K USD I could put out a 30 minute episode of something. But that's after you have the art done, board work, etc.

I think a comic or a game would be the easiest to start or finish, and a good addition to a studio portfolio. A comic I will still need to find some collaborators, and a game, that's labor intensive, but I don't really have an excuse for why I'm not toying around with free game makers in my spare time instead of hitting that refresh button on here :p

I want to voice act

I would find a spot for you.

Pretty much what white culture is and why they struggle to explain it, isn't it? 'cause all it is is assimilation of ethnic groups that were once given shit by truly white people.
Pretty much.

Well. He is royalty. LOL.

But yeah i pretty much agree.

Though i was quite shocked you couldn't buy other outfits AT ALL.

Y'all should collab..no joke.

On one hand I'm happy to help with anything akira wants to learn where I can at any time, but I can guarantee that collaborating with me would be a disaster for akira. Working with me is a nightmare, because I am so controlling on elements of story and art that I want to see down to the littlest details, and I take years to finish anything because I am a perfectionist. The project I'm working on now I have been working on for years, and I don't know when I'll finish it. That's not a no, though. I'm just laying out there what a bad person I am to work with.

Though, my dream for games is to help new voices get into the industry one day, and especially provide vehicles for interesting artists to showcase their art through games.

You mean those niggas don't have a club outfits? All white suits and shit
Not all white outfits.

But the only alternative ones there are do look a bit like club ones. (well for Noctis, anyway)
No Man's Wardrobe change..

Gordon is right. You're far too hard on yourself, fam.

What's to stop someone from managing you? It sounds like you like to do some of the work, why not leave the project management to someone else. This way they can let you know your limit on how long to spend perfecting?

I'm just tossing ideas out

I'll keep that in mind. Thank you. BCT continues to be a source for inspirations and possibilities.

and yep the perfectionist trap is a killer. there are ways around that though, through other people, lol.

You're so hard on yourself, Mikey..

I...ha ha ha...well. Yeah...

After years of working on the same project, it takes its toll. I want to move on to new things eventually.

I used to have a publisher managing me before he started acting shady and trying to use my game to ride other game's coattails, so in the last two months I ended my partnership with him and one of my best friends came on board with me as a project manager to keep me working properly and professionally instead of aimlessly, and he acts as a no man to me so my ideas are treated critically and I don't turn into a George Lucas. :p

I can dig what you're saying. I've worked with some of the most obstinate artists imaginable, and even having the success of getting the group doing independent art shows around the globe, it always fell apart because of personalities. That's not to say that great things can't happen. They just have to happen with a group of minds agreeing on one set of practices. Even then, nothing lasts forever. But great things..

The only way I have ever made progress working with another person is when I've relinquished some control and accepted the idea of compromise, and only then. That is a very hard thing for me to do with my projects.

Wait..this about that kid that got all sad about that Iranian asshole? What's this diluted stuff? Did I miss something on first read?

She said him saying that America being diluted by immigrants isn't racist. She then said was mixed Italian so she is diluted herself... I get she's 14, but damn. You should know some shit at that age.

Hate sounding old, but these kids just grew up different. Way more outside influence. Internet is a hell of a thing. Met some of my son's friends. They had some..interesting opinions. Unexpected from young black teens in DC..no doubt.

Yeah nah, even my dumb ass knew what racism was at 14. Granted I thought shit was sunshine and rainbows at 13, but still!

Not uncommon for kids to call themselves mongrels or mutts these days, it's early knowledge. You're right. The Internet does things.

Had my first racist experience in 8th grade, though. And my second. YMMV, tbh. Sheltered lives due to indoor habits these days?

Of course this is where you show up.

Youtube era I guess. More about following what is popular instead of learning shit yourself. Makes me feel damn old at 24.

Ain't said all are alike..some held hands before you did.

It's crazy. Just seeing the gap was a trip. My boy knew better, but some of his friends? Male or female? Shiiit..I'd be like "when they leaving again?"

It's part of it, but even if they don't necessarily follow, they have friends they look up to that do. You just get caught up in shit..
