--PS5 reportedly struggling with Resident Evil 8: can barely run it at 1080p/60

He wasn't informed on Lockheart's plans. Most developers didn't even have the dev kits for XSX last year. Not sure what's shocking about it to you.
dude, listen, REAL developers were saying that up until ms sent them specific lockheart kits, they had to do for both on the x kit, and that was kind of confusing for them.

I already wrote I am not your daddy, yours or anybody elses in this forum, its not my loss how your brain works.
I have only so much time to kill on meaningless back and forths.

He is literary one of the few people vetted to have access to both a PS5 and an XSX dev kit according to era (hence why he can only speak about things in general terms).
He hasn't been vetted as that. He was vetted as working at a dev company last generation, which he does (or at least did), but he's not a developer. He's some community manager type role. The chances of him having actual insider information about anything other than what games the company he works for is making is slim to none, hence why he *never* actually has any information himself. All he ever does is piggyback on other leakers and say he's heard the same thing.

My bad, did not realise it was Native, thought it was like 1800p

So you laughed at someone that said it was native 4K, saying they're wrong, when you literally did not even know what resolution it ran at lol

If a game is struggling to run at 1080p/60fps on the PS5 hardware then it must be the most technically advanced game the world has ever seen. Crysis levels of ahead of the market. Either that or the developers are terrible. Or the most likely scenario, this is rubbish.

What real developers are you talking about here?

And thank god you're not my daddy. My daddy doesn't feel the need to initiate the caps lock when he can't comprehend basic text on the internet

Not to point out the obvious but if SX was doing so well comparitively at this stage, why have MS been so gunshy about showing anything actually running on devkits, whereas Sony have plastered it over every bit of footage?

that's nothing new. back before the 360 launched many games at E3 were running on PCs, the end results on the final console were always idenical to what was shown tho.
and now with how close these systems are to basic PC parts and with microsoft using Direct X 12 on both PC and Series X, the results are very much identical either way, but working with PC (especially during our current situation) to make sure demos are ready for the show is way more convenient

You know he was saying that there was no lockheart, right?
What kind of imaginary developer that is "vetted" to "have access to both dev kits" would say that?
Even the cleaning person of the office building where dev kits are located would be more knowledgeable on the subject.
You know Lockhart has not been announced right? I mean, we can speculate all we want but until Microsoft says something you can't really call anyone out on it. Now, if you have an official announcement about Lockhart/Series S I would love to see it. My best guess is Lockhart/Series S will not launch with the Series X or even be announced before then. Where did I get my info? Same place as anyone speculating Lockhart will be announced this month. Out of my ass. As fo r"Matt" being a dev. I have no F'n clue.

He also said this... Although I reckon some people will not like it:

"I'm not going to say too much, but from some murmurings I've been hearing, I'll just say I suspect this topic is going to age "interestingly" when a few more details on both platforms are revealed.

I mean this in a few more ways, but to give the broadest idea, I'll just say the Xbox X is by far more powerful than the PS5 if we're just talking raw power, multi-platform games will run better on Xbox X is something people are going to have to prepare themselves for. Add to this Microsoft are ready to lowball Sony when it comes to price. They can more easily make a sacrifice and get back profits from Game Pass than console sales than Sony can from that comparatively."

We all know the specs now to compare the raw power between the two. His comment really means nothing

Far more powerful than PS5?

You heard it here first. Prepare yourselves for PS2 versus Xbox levels of difference. A side-by-side comparison of the original Splinter Cell on PS2 and Xbox should give you an idea of what to expect. Good luck. Firm handshakes all-around.

Ironic. Taken as it is, it’s obviously just had some weird optimisation issues and is only a single game, it doesn’t really say much if anything about PS5 as it’s a single game and the issues were months ago, and for a game not due out for some time.

That being said, you could literally apply the exact same context to something like Halo Infinite but then attach “lol Craig” and you get pages and pages of warring. Something a lot of posters here could maybe think about; chill the fuck out. Warring is legit boring and childish.

Yup. It's a-ok for Grounded (a WIP early access game) to be evaluated on performance and features. Hiccup performance and bare bones. People should know what it's like even if it's not the final game.

Nope. It's not ok for RE to be publicized about performance. It's not ok to tell gamers what development is like.
Grounded is a game people are playing because they bought it, this is information about a game still in development yet to be released, if you cant see the difference then holy fuck

Hey man, I admitted I was wrong.. It's not uncommon for a games Native Resolution to be at 1800p for the One X for a multiplat game.

I wonder if it could of technically done 1440p/60 on One X? :pie_thinking:

The rumor I heard that PS5 is the "Xbox One X" killer that was suppose to come out in Q4 2019 that has been souped up with a custom SSD and Boost Clocks seems more and more like the reality of the situation. Expect a PS5 PRO aka the real PS5 sooner than later.
That has to be the dumbest rumor I've read here in a while.

Why the hell would Sony feel the need to release a "killer" for a console that posed no threat to them whatsoever? And why would they wait until Q4 2019 to release it, leaving only a year before the console it is supposed to kill gets replaced by an even faster model?

Bullshit....they will drop the resolution to hit frame rate same thing they are doing on pro and X1X now.

So a benchmark shows a 2080Ti outperforming a 2070, and the point of the benchmark is that if you own a 2070 you should be happy because they both look sharp... alrighty then lol, the real point is that it shows how one hardware is clearly more capable than the other which will reflect on multiplatform games like PS4 over XB1 regardless of XB1 games looked fine for Xbox fans 🤷🏻‍♂️
Na, that wasnt the point al all, the point "was" rdr2 looking like crap on ps4, pro, thats a lie, you guy love these lies, reality its not your best ally

There is no way they're going to let it out on the ps5 running badly.

You really think Capcom would prioritise Xbox over Playstation? Get real.

Most likely scenario is the Xbox version will only look barely noticeably better.

Mat has seen both dev kits in action and says the gap is close.

Specs actually line up with what Mat is saying, unless there's some "secret sauce" that has yet to be revealed and PS5 is missing a lot of features, which doesn't seem to be the case at all.

Hilarious and apparently Sony has the marketing on this game. Reminds me of RDR2, Sony had the marketing, but it looked like crap on the Pro but was absolutely gorgeous in native 4K on the X.

How is that a Sony issue? That sounds like Rockstar / Capcom issue.

RDR2's crap almost non-existent HDR was crap on BOTH Pro and X so.....

So I don't think this has anything to do with Sony that Capcom is having development issues

I saw that after I posted but I was not going to run back and change it. I would not call this definitive proof but it definitely leads to it being very likely. I just wish MS would announce what it is so we can end speculation. While they are at it, can we get prices. :)

So this Dusk Golem guy...

Released info on RE8, thus spoiling that reveal

Uses hyperbole like 'by far more powerful than PS5'

and 'people are going to have to prepare themselves'

Then goes on to say 'Microsoft are ready to lowball Sony when it comes to price'

and the can 'easily make that up from Game Pass' (Which makes no money HAHAHA)

Then releases this potentially damaging rumor that RE8 is not performing as well on PS5 as on XSX...

There seems to be an obvious agenda behind everything he says....

How is that not definitive proof? It's an official Microsoft product that references the Xbox Series Y.

There Is a difference between art and getting your engine stabilized on a new console. And halo infinite is running on a pc according to Microsoft. So uhh no Halo didn’t get that pass.

Because that already happened

PS4 PRO = Q4 2016
XBOX ONE X = Q4 2017

Sony was DONE with the PS4 after 2018 they had two E3's a row with the same games....GOT, TLOS2 AND FFR were going to be launch PS5 games

For various reasons that didn't happen but that was the original plan was Q4 2019 and the PS5 is the same system w/ minor upgrades

THIS PS5 has "problems" and they know it....and it will be replaced soon

It's not really about priority if the platform is a headache to get good results with. You will always see multiplat titles performing better on one machine than the other. There was a time when Capcom's games ran noticeably better on 360 than PS3. Anyone can see that it's in Capcom's interests to make sure the PS5 version of Village is the best it can possibly be.

Halo Infinite (which was publicly demoed running off a PC no less) is launching in like 3 months.

Resident Evil is a year away from launch.

How in gods green earth is the above comparable in any way, shape or form.

I swear some of you need to see a specialist.

How is it Rockstar's issue that RDR2 can't run at 4k resolution on the PS4 Pro? Rockstar optimized the shit out of every console. Even the weakest console (Xbox One S) had an impressive port. You can say all you want about other developers, but Roclstar proved themselves to be masters of any given system.

PC gamer here, so I don't give a shit about either console. I'm might get a PS5 when Demon Souls comes out.

I hope some people will have a good hard look at all the magic SSD bullshit and learn what a PR campaign that actually was.

It really worked great too. Millions of gamers just switched their brains off and ate that shit up like a starved dog. "But Tim Sweeney! But Marc wouldn't tell a fib!" Yes they would. It's not so much lying as it was a slight of hand. They distracted you with one hand and hid what mattered with the other hand. I'm sure the futuristic SSD it will do some mildly cool things for about 10 games in the entire life cycle of the PS5. Otherwise what you have is a fast loading machine with 50% less CUs than the Xbox Series X. Of course it isn't going to be as good for Multiplatform games. Memory bandwidth becomes moot when your machine is struggling to properly render at 4K and it sounds more like the PS5 won't do that, which is not a surprise at all on a 9 TF machine. 4K (checkerboarded)/30fps will be the PS5 standard for most games. SO FUCKING LAME. Spotty backward compatibility will be the other black eye on this console from what I read from reliable leakers.

Regardless, It's about games fellas. Stop attaching your joy to this silly technical shit, especially if you are a Sony fan boy. Insiders have also said that Xbox Series X will have a lot of problems with being competitive in software so their only play is to come in cheaper and use gamepass as a cheap way to get people on the platform. But yeah, digital foundry comparison articles will be pretty one sided this gen if and when said game arrives on the XSX.

9TF?

It's a 10.2TF machine.

SSD is not a marketing compain. Games are moving to streaming to make take better advantage of memory usage.

All of this sounds like someone who doesn't know what they're even talking about. lol.
