Jeff Grubb: "Starfield is exclusive to Xbox and PC. Period."

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
If it's Windows store / Game Pass exclusive on PC, then fair enough... But if it's also on Steam with MS giving some 30% cut to Valve, then his point absolutely stands.

Before making such a childish response, maybe you should take a look at how Sony describes their PS5/PC 'exclusive' games...

Oh precisely like how he explained it... In any case, this whole thing is about semantics and nothing else at all. So it's kind of irrelevant to the main point of this topic.

Maybe we shift focus on what it’s on to what it’s not on if that makes you feel better

I'd be extremely surprised if any Bethesda game comes to playstation. I'd get it, if they had it on ps5. But not expecting it. Hopefully my pc can run it.

I'm more interested in ES. Waiting on gameplay for starfield.

What operating system does 99% of Steam users use?
Windows... but Steam is not Xbox / Windows / Microsoft. It's an independent program from an independent company with no direct association towards Microsoft or Xbox as of this moment, therefore, Steam is NOT part of Xbox ecosystem as the other user suggested (I can't believe I had to point out this most obvious thing to you!).

However, this really just shows you the remarkable failure and lack of insight from MS in regards to gaming since eons ago.

I mean instead of chasing after the barely profitable hardware-based gaming market, they could have made their own 'Steam' before Steam was even a thing. Just imagine being so clueless that you go after a market you have nearly zero experience with and use a ridiculous amount of cash just to get a foothold on, while leaving the platform you have created yourself wide open for someone else to come and profit a massive amount of money off of it with very little effort compared to the console market.

The point isn't Steam is Xbox it's that Microsoft views PC as their platform bc it's Windows. If they were gungho on being that granular to limit it to PC windows store only, they wouldn't have released on Steam lately and on day 1 for upcoming titles like Halo. Obviously it's because of steams market share, but it's still on their platform of Windows.

It's just tired semantics to be like hurr it's not exclusive, it's on PC! Or having to say it's an Xbox CONSOLE exclusive when literally every Microsoft first party title will be on PC as well as Xbox going forward. It makes sense to say PS5 console exclusive because if Sony said PS5 exclusive it wouldn't be clear if it would also come to PC.

If MS considered Steam as their platform because it's mostly used on PC, then I'd say they are borderline delusional!

Windows is an open platform after all and Valve / Steam are completely independent from Microsoft. How Microsoft may perceive them is irrelevant, but the truth as you lightly touched upon is that the reach of Steam (check out Sea of Thieves' sales) is the main reason behind MS distributing their games on that platform.

I agreed and said just as much in my prior comment in this very topic.

Please do realize that I wasn't the one who started this whole argument.

Does anyone else feel like this game will be like the old Starflight games? Where you explore the galaxy, can land on planets to mine resources, discover local ruins if any, encounter local fauna and manage resources; maintain and upgrade a ship while discovering other intelligent civilisations.

Even this seemingly definitive post is somewhat ambiguous, this could still mean “it’s exclusive, for a set amount of time, period.”

If he really wanted to set the record straight, why not say “it’s not timed exclusive, it’s not eventually coming to other platforms, it is 100% exclusive to Xbox and PC.”

After spending 7.5 billion to acquire a company, it should be exclusive. If it wasn’t, they might as well did a timed exclusive deal with Bethesda in that case since it was presumably coming to their platform anyway.

Future Bethesda titles are coming to PS5 with Dual sense support. jeff grubb is lying to you it’s not exclusive to Xbox. It doesn’t happen today it won’t happen in a few months or next year. Starfield is coming to ps5 for $70 while you rent it on xbox.

/s

forget Grubb.

Phil Spencer literally said anything not contractually obligated atm is exclusive to “game pass platforms”. PS is not a GP platform.

Why do we need any confirmation that Phil Spencer actually meant what he said? He was very definitive on this not too long ago.

do people seriously not think Phil is this serious about GP? They didn’t spend 7.5 billion to be a 3rd party publisher. It’s direct investment in GP.

I mean anyone should really just assume any game being made by a studio owned by a first party is going to make games only for the console of that party unless officially stated otherwise.

Hell, even a game announced as timed exclusive isn't guaranteed to be on certain platforms. Certainly not guaranteed to release immediately after the time period. There is no need to debate it. Each fanbase has plenty to look forward to.

I find this all to be hilarious. Phil already told us. If it ain’t a GP platform and there isn’t a currently existing contract, it’s not getting Bethesda games. He said this on a stage with Bethesda people right there with him. It was definitive.

Do Sony fans actually think Phil lied? That he isn’t this dedicated to GP? The entire point of this purchase was for GP. He even told people they didn’t need to bring games to other platforms for the deal to make sense. He warned everyone of this very thing before the sale was final. After final, he straight up told us games are exclusive to GP platforms.

Why is this a debate?

Fare thee well

That is kind of shocking considering how Skyrim has released on EVERYTHING. Hell I think my microwave even downloaded Skyrim the other day. Guess microsoft has a different MO.

he is about to cry...so is just making up non sense ) let it go
as I said before .. he has already touched two of the three points. the. quality of Bethesda as a developer ..... the exclusivity of their games now that they are ms studios ..only gamepass sustainability is missing

You don't need to see gameplay to know this game is the next coming of Baby Jesus, that's what I gathered from xfans.

I doubt they scrap the Playstation version and I highly doubt either of these games are coming out this year.

Space Skyrim is going to be massive. On 1 hand it makes sense because it will be a huge system seller and on the other hand it's leaving a sizable chunk of revenue not releasing on other systems.

Can we get lil Franky banned from shitting up pages and pages of every Xbox thread plz

valve and steam is so much independent from windows that without windows it would fail in 24h lol
some people fail to see things macroscopically ... as they fail to understand that it is in ms interest to keep Windows as the primary gaming OS. Especially with Apple probably preparing to make its move with its in-house chips. Honestly, Sony has very little to do with it, or at least in the big schemes ... it is one of the players that ms fear less.

if microsoft doesnt show an incredible show this year. im gonna delete them from my memory forever ... well maybe i give them next year as a last resort. but all this desperateness in their following because they hype everything and never deliver is getting annoying.
microsoft 2010 up to now is the worst that a big gaming company has ever performed. without mother company im not sure they would even sell outside of the usa anymore.
Best games that came out were cuphead and ori. Amazing games, but not enough for 10+ years ...

edit : i excuse myself inbefore someone gets mad. this is kinda console war stuff and i dont want to do that ( most of the time, it gets fun sometimes .. ) but this topic is just going on for way to long and its something i just want to go away. please microsoft just show amazing stuff ....

That has to be the dumbest take / interpretation I have heard since a long time in these forums. But I'll leave it at that so that you don't further embarrass yourself.

Probably because it is evident that you don't understand the implications of the case

Maybe the game will be bad. Take for example, pokemon sword, the shittiest rpg of all time. The switch is a worse system for having it.
Of course, you would say something as stupid as this. I bet you would be cumming if it was indeed a PlayStation exclusive and which it was supposed to be. Buzz off with that negative shit. So tired of people like you. Act like a man and not a child.

Edit: Pokemon Sword and whatever the other one is called is one of the best sellers for Nintendo so please try again.

I'm honestly surprised that this is still such a divisive topic.

Expecting any big Bethesda game to be multiplat going forward is setting yourself up for disappointment.

It's a big win for MSFt as long as the game is good. I'm pretty confident it'll probably be a pretty damn good one, seems like it's been a Howard/BGS passion project for a long time. That said, it NEEDS to be a good game. MSFT really needs some solid 1st party games, and if they can come swinging out the gate with a Bethesda Game Studios open world RPG that embraces what they've done so well in the past while also going in new direction it could sell gangbusters.

Say what you will about Skyrim, but it's one of the best selling games of ALL TIME. Which is a hell of an achievement. I look forward to seeing more and hope it's an awesome game.

I mean it also comes to PC. I don't give a fuck if it is Xbox console exclusive :messenger_tears_of_joy: .Bad for playstation only gamers tho. I play on Playstation and PC for 2 decades now. Nothing changed for me

DForce

NaughtyDog Defense Force
and here we are)) ... where we can always read the usuals starting the damage control
- iTS not exclusive or at most timed exclusive
- Bethesda is not good anymore
-Peoole doesn't care about this game.

We can't read the "usuals" from Xbox fanboys because they change narratives every 6 months.

Before studio acquisitions, Xbox fanboys downplayed exclusive titles and said the the majority of the gamers don't care about them and it's all about multiplatform titles. They also said exclusives are only for the "hardcore gamers" but now Xbox fans are so proud to talk about exclusive games.

Lets not forget that Xbox fanboys claim Sony makes the same games and label them all "the same".

I mean, we've already known this after the roundtable with Spencer. Only idiots were still living in denial.
