Seriously I just want to play this damn game. For as many things as I could think of to worry about, that first preview gave me a LOT to love. I have no doubt the gameplay in this is going to be rock SOLID.

So uh... out of nowhere it looks like they've announced fucking Flood Firefight for MCC, amongst a bunch of other shit.

I kind of wish they'd put the guys working on MCC on Infinite because they are doing an excellent job with this game.

Why didn't they announce this at Gamescon? There are many many aspects to MCC that are indeed excellent (finally), however one area that continues to suck is social playlist management and cheating which continue to be garbage and completely lack variety or sustain of churn for maps/gametypes. If we get isolation, midship or assembly anymore there will literally be no other maps being selected. They're still heavily weighted months later and seasonal changes in between too. As for cheating we're now back to people able to kill a game entirely and lag other people out. Had it twice last night out of about 6 games, in social no less. Fuckers killed the game when we came back from losing to the final kills shifting our way for the win. Pathetic. 1) they can even still lag people out 2) they can lag themselves out and the game selects a new host but craps out and it's an unfinished game stating selecting a new host. On dedicated servers? WTF@#E@@!.

How that even functions is beyond me if it's dedis. I once heard there's an invisible host player sort of thing going on to get the older MCC titles working on dedis. Sounds like cheaters have learnt how to fuck with that.

Yeah that's a broken mess haha. I'm not a big fan of Isolation to begin with. I played some social ce slayer yesterday and got matched up against a pair of players (multiple games) that were one shotting everyone with sniper rifles. It sure felt like they were cheating, but perhaps not. I can't remember if they were controller or keyboard. I'd expect that using a mouse might trivialize aiming with the sniper rifle but I don't know. What I do know is there was no point in trying to paly. They were winning games at scores of like 50 to 10.

Yeah the Halo subreddit is completely shitting on the new helmets. I don't think they're THAT bad, and can be toggled off anyway, but they're definitely a bit jarring.

I feel conflicted here. I like having a few wild armors in Halo. I'm actually a bit bummed out that the Samurai armor was made non-canon. You could make some kind of case for there being some rare armors based off historical warrior cultures or legends. Especially since the UNSC has upped the publicity of Spartans with the IV program. It's also neat getting some new designs in the old games. A few of these look really rad.

On the other hand... there is not a doubt in my mind that this is TAME compared to what we're gonna see in Infinite's seasons. At this point we should probably just hold on to our BUTTS and hope to god that 343 has the sense to at least not turn the games into a total cartoon.

Yes agreed. In many ways the Hayabusa helmet in Halo 3 really didn't fit Halo either but it does look good.

One thing I will say is that Halo will never become Fortnite, at least I hope not. They'd need to introduce dancing and no helmet spartans with pink hair for it to even begin to approach Fortnite levels.

Funny thing is, that actually works since Infinite doesn't have RvB anymore. Those bois could be on the same team.

One thing I'll say for the Hayabusa helmet armor though is that looking at it, it still looks like something from Halo. I saw someone ask what the line is for artistic deviation, and they said "When you look at it and can't tell it's from a Halo game". That feels like the best answer to me. A lot of those new helmets look straight out of Doom (which looks fucking awesome). Hopefully 343 will try and walk that line instead of doubling down on the insanity.

Yeah I'm worried about that too. Unfortunately I think the leaked snowman head is probably a preview of what's to come. :/

Hopefully 343 will let us toggle off the more... "outlandish" armors in Infinite too.

Last night I played a few games of CE in the master chief collection and had an absolute blast. Gonna have to go back and watch my captures and maybe upload them. Of course my captures usually show poor gameplay when I think I had been playing well.

I had been playing Halo 3 and 4 a lot more recently for challenges but every time I go back to CE it just feels like home. The double melee in CE has to be the most satisfying button glitch in all of Halo. I was never a BXR person. Plus randomly melee'ing a person is much more situational and less op compared to manipulating the firing rate of the Battle rifle. That and the risk of blowing oneself up with grenades in CE.

Thanks for the heads up. I need to watch that Xperia video. Plus, there are no tweets from Xbox about Season 8 that I can tell. I've searched twitter and, while I can see all the pictures and updates from random people reacting, I didn't see any specific source or links.

I downloaded the TMCC Insider last night. It was like 53 gigs and now I only have 3 gigs of space left on my Xbox one between Halo 5, The Master Chief Collection, and the TMCC Insider lol.

JUDGING​

A panel of judges outside of the HCS team and across all Halo generations were selected and tasked with creating their own individual Top 25 lists.

They are:

• Bravo – Former Halo Pro Coach, and Commentator
• Elamite – Former Halo Pro, and Commentator
• Goldenboy – Halo Commentator (Also a Global Icon and National Treasure)
• Clutch – Former Halo Pro, and Commentator
• Walshy – Former Halo Pro, and Commentator
• Goofy – Former Halo Pro, and Commentator
• Mikwen – Former Halo Pro
• Gaskin – Halo Commentator
• Heinz – Former Halo Pro.

From there, we assigned a point value to each placing for each one of their lists. The 25th player on each of their lists received 1 point, and the 1st player on each of their lists received 25 points. We then tallied up the points for each of the players to create the final and official Top 25 list. The player with the highest total point value was named the Greatest Halo Player of All Time. The player with the 25th highest point value was named the 25th Greatest Halo Player of All Time.

In the case of the two players having the same exact point total, the tie was broken based on which of the tied players received the single highest ranking from one of the judges. For example, imagine two players were tied for 17th. Player A’s highest ranking on one of the judge’s lists was 12th. Player B’s highest ranking on one of the judge’s lists was 13th. Therefore, Player A received 17th on the list, Player B received 18th on the list.

The judges were given the following criteria and guidelines:

• Focus on greatness in competition. External greatness around sponsorships, popularity, kindness, etc should NOT be a factor.
• While 4v4 is the main competition and focus, consideration for other accolades including MVPs, individual tournament wins, and more can also be made.
• Where possible, you should take statistics into consideration as well as including things like Kills, Assists, average placement, winning streaks, event wins, and more.
• Other intangible considerations around reputation in the game, leadership, play-making abilities, eye test, and more can also be made.

SCHEDULE​

The players will be announced on the HCS Twitter account starting on Monday 9/6 at 10am PT, and for the first week we’ll be revealing three players a day which will then leave us with the Top 10. Along with the announcement, we’ll be celebrating the player’s success and sharing memories from their career. We encourage everyone to join the conversation online and share your favorite memories as well!

In Week 2 starting on Monday 9/13, we’ll be releasing a video each day starting with #10 and ending with #6. Each of these videos will be soley dedicated to the player, and you'll hear from Halo legends across the ages as they talk about what makes each of these players so great.

In Week 3, starting on Monday 9/20, we’ll again be releasing a video dedicated to each player. On Thursday 9/23, we’ll open up a community poll so you can weigh in on who you think is the Greatest Player of All Time. Finally on the last day, we will reveal both #2 and #1 players on the list, and again each with their dedicated video and time in the spotlight.

Quick thoughts:

I didn't see anything egregious in that update. I was surprised they are keeping the hammer the same as I hated using it. It was slow and felt like the slowness was not only awkward but affected my aim with it as well.

Personally I like the radar not showing people who are sprinting or using their weapon. But it looks like 343 had enough complaints and are changing it back to a traditional radar. Lame.

They are looking at the HUD and considering changes. I hope they can implement a better and more intuitive version.

The last thing that I really cared about was the friend or foe system feedback and I guess they will continue to work on it. But they are going to make improvements to allow players to better see overshield, depleted shields, and what not. So that's good.

I finally got to try out the season 8 flight for TMCC. The customizations are actually legit spiffy. I'm not really a fan of any of the new helmets but I went ham playing with all the other options. They've added animated visors to Halo 3, which is pretty sick. One other thing I noticed was that Halo CE has a new HuD and perhaps it felt just a tad different from what I'm used to. Not sure if I was imagining things. I need to take a screenshot of my Halo 3 armor. I used the rogue helmet but everything else is from season 8.

MCC runs so much better on XSX it's actually crazy. Feels like the console it was "meant" to be played on. H2A and CEA had atrocious framerates on the One X but on XSX they've been pretty much a perfect 60 the entire time.

Why is the preorder campaign at AUD$99.95? Since multiplayer went F2P why isn't the overall campaign price lower? We're expected to pay the same price as the old games. It seems off by comparison to previous titles and pricing.

But since no one knows what is happening with the campaign - its development and its future - it is a hard pill to swallow. Or just wait until the game releases and play via gamepass.
