I think this was the reason we haven't got Last of Us 2 Remastered. Would be weird to release Last of Us 2 Remastered early 2022 and sell the prequel in the 2nd half. If I had to guess though Naughty Dog won't be generous and bundle both games in one. I reckon we will get Last of Us Remake as a full priced game with the most marketing, and Last of Us 2 Remastered would be bundled as a more expensive SKU with Last of Us Remake similar to how they bundled Spiderman Remastered. As for the the Factions multiplayer I think that will release at a different time seperatly as a F2P game.

Basically I expect something like this
LoU Factions - September
LoU HBO TV Show - October
LoU Remake (Full Price) - November
LoU Remake + 2 Remastered Bundle (More expensive than a full price game) - November

Its not officially confirmed but I think it will be free to play.

PS is lacking in exclusive multiplayer games and this game is a big opportunity to at least have one big multiplayer exclusive.

Charging for this would be stupid because the goal should be to get as much players in and they can make more in the backend on microtransactions. I also think this will be a cross gen game for the same reason.
Yeah that definitely makes sense. People bitch about the cost of cosmetics in halo infinite and I see SO many people using them so I think Sony might do something similar and make their cosmetics expensive. I'm okay with it so long as it's not pay to win like uncharted mp was!

Oh I will. But it will likely be on a Playstation 5. If it's on both we can.
Likely be on ps5 and ps4, at a minimum. Wouldn't be surprised if it's on pc as well. As someone else mentioned, Sony doesn't have any competitive mp games and this feels like they're putting a ton of effort into it. They'll likely want to reach as many players as possible

TLOU remake $50
TLOU remake + TLOU2 remaster $70

No full price Sony published games are $70

So it will be
TLOU Remake - $70 - marketed as a full priced game
TLOU Remake + TLOU2 DC - $90 - marketed as a Ultimate Edition version of TLOU Remake

If Sony are generous I guess they can sell the bundle with a $10 discount if you already own TLOU2 so $80 for TLOU2 PS4 owners.

TLOU2 won't be sold separately until a few months later similar to Spiderman Remastered

Nah. I bet TLOU remake will just be $50.

Like Death Stranding Director's Cut, Spider-man Miles Morales, and the Uncharted Collection are all $50.

Perfect kind of game to put for free in their service...a remake of a game that is being used to sell a tv show...sell it for 30$ of put it straight in PSPlus+
They won't put an expensive AAA title that has been in development since like 2018 on PSPlus. Specifically from an IP as big as this one. And specially when it has a TV show around that time.

For ND, that is like 3 games with their expansion content.

I don’t believe that.

If it was near finished the release date should be already know.

When the game launches and it needs patches you will see how that report was bullshit.

But you said remaster? Is not a remaster. Just a native APP.
Are you serious right now? A game doesn't have to have "remaster" in the title to be a remaster. Are you purposely acting dumb? It is a 7 year old game being brought to new consoles with better graphics. That is the definition of a remaster. I see you got made to look foolish with your initial "it's a patch" comment and are now trying to argue something else. You're a waste of time

It's the same thing

No. Is not. Transtaling a game to a native APP not necessary mean is a remaster.

You don't know what is coming to this game. Is just like going to the game settings and change graphics between medium to high or very high. There is no information in this regards besides Raytracing.

The guy is an idiot who just wants to argue. He's making himself look foolish

So, thats your take? Don't agree with the person, call him idiot? Got it.

Go call every game getting transtale to native APP a remaster now. OMG.

Unless the game is going to look the exact same as the last-gen version (which we know it won't) then it's a remaster

Even if the game don't looks like the same, is impossible to tell if will be a remaster or not without proper comparison.

Imagine DF getting the game in comparison and say the 'PS5 version match the old PC version of Witcher 3 on very high'. This just tell some graphics settings getting improve.

Now, imagine comparing Dark Souls remaster with the old Dark Souls of PC.

If assets get changes or different models/textures, will be called a remaster. If I recall, will get a DLC to match the Netflix series.

You don't need to change assets for it to be a remaster. A remaster just needs to be a new version with improved quality. Doesn't matter if it's done through new assets or through the same assets just at a higher quality.

Still can't believe they are actually going through with a full remake of a game that only had one sequel. What a waste of effort.

Do you even read what is write?

At this point, I prefer agree to disagree with you. Frankly.
Do you even read? It says remaster multiple times in that article. You're making yourself look so dumb. Jak 2 was remastered on PS3. It wasn't called Jak 2 Remastered. Mass Effect was remastered last year. It wasn't called Mass Effect Remastered. Remastered doesn't have to be in the title. Remastered stands for an old game being brought to new platforms with updated graphics which is exactly what Witcher 3 on PS5 and Series X is. End of story. Go bother someone else with your foolishness.

Never heard of any principle regards this. And I don't remember every game you mention getting called 'remaster' because of patch/update.

Gonna be a pass from me unless it's cheap (it won't be for a long while I assume). TLoU was a fantastic game to me because of its story and I'm not too keen on retreading that on prettier visuals.

Sony is greedy but not that greedy….

I would not be surprised if they bundled the PS5 edition of TLOU1 + TLOU2 plus the factions MP for $70.

I still think Factions will be cross gen, playstation exclusive and free to play but the remasters will be PS5 exclusive for 1 Year than get released on PC early next year.

I wonder how they will space out these TLOU related titles, if that is their aim at all to begin with? Perhaps will they launch a TLOU Parts I & II (Remake for the first, Director's Cut for the second) box set at $70-$80? But then, what about Factions? No idea...
I kinda think they will release it all at once, perhaps the “factions” multiplayer even launching from within the remake.

Also I want to briefly recognize the internet person who coined the term Neil Cuckmann.

Factions needs to be standalone. I will pay for that.
It was promised in the early days of the TLOU2 preorder campaign to be included in the game. https://www.polygon.com/e3/2018/6/13/17460850/the-last-of-us-part-2-multiplayer-e3-2018

I loved Factions 1 and was one of the dummies who pre-ordered TLOU2 super early fully expecting to get Factions 2. ND stripped it out, and TLOU2 still shipped full price with no multiplayer component.

We should NOT have to pay for Factions 2. It's complete bullshit it's taken this long already.

So long as it has some new areas/enemies/mechanics/twists then it'll be worth doing. A cosmetic facelift alone doesn't really warrant the effort imo, since the PS4 version is fine as it is. Would be a nice opportunity to integrate the DLC though.

Not at all

The show is coming out and they want to introduce the game to a new audience that might want to play the game in a updated state. The original game is almost a decade old.

Not to mention that there's a staggering overlap of visual assets they spent years creating for the sequel (basically every variant of beautiful-looking concrete and foliage you can imagine) which will ease a lot of heavy lifting for the remake.

Hard to believe they're actually remaking TLOU when it hasn't even been a decade.

We've seen remakes in shorter timespans. It was only six years between the release of Resident Evil on PlayStation and Gamecube. Same with MGS Twin Snakes.

They told you nearly a year before release that it would be a standalone product and wouldn't ship with the game.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
If game is remastered from the ground up for PS5 only with TLOU 2 mechanics then it will be the best looking game of the gen so far AND have the best combat. I’m In.

And I told you I was a dummy - what more do you want from me!

In all honesty I got an E3 preorder discount and didn't want to lose it. So I kept my preorder to save the 20% or whatever it was despite knowing well in advance Factions 2 would not be included.

My point still stands that we should not have to pay for Factions 2.

If it's just a factions 1 but expanded, sure, it should be free for existing owners, but given it doesn't seem to be that anymore and a completely new thing entirely i wouldn't be mad if we have to pay for it
