Starfield in the polish/optimization stage of development

I think the game probably could've released in 2021 in "Bethesda" state, but MS had them push it a year for this polish.

Hopefully. There will always be a bug here or there to patch, but hopefully it won't have a distracting amount of bugs on release. Nothing kills momentum, especially in the media, faster than that.

Todd has said numerous times that he doesnt like showing his games off until the E3 before release. We are lucky really that we even got the teaser, we got nothing of Fallout 4 until E3 before release.

That's the way it should be done IMO. Still plenty of time to build hype without stringing things out too much or promising things early that don't make the final cut, etc.

Im not really interested in Starfield but there's definitely a market for it, judging by the hype. Im more interested in seeing Avowed.

But at least if I change my mind on it, I can always just download it from Gamepass, "the best deal in gaming" (sorry I couldn't help myself lol)
So 'Skyrim in space' doesnt wet your wristle Concern?. Thats cool.

I mean, I hope it’s not too polished, this jank gave me so many hours of entertainment. A pure bug free Bethesda game would feel odd almost.

Bethesda and bugs have become a meme. Partly because their games are a bit buggy, partly because people mod them and cause crashes, and partly because Sony fanboys exaggerate the bugs to demean a rival.

Being known for bugs is not a good thing. Of course Bethesda will have factored in additional time resource to shed that negative image for Starfield. Good luck to them! (they're gonna need it)

That's just truth telling right there.

Never really been into anything to do with Space besides Mass Effect. But more than anything the hype for this kinda reminds me of No Mans Sky and we saw how that went so Im skeptical.

Biggest disapointment with andromeda tbh. The linear levels were great but the planet exploration bored the shit out of me

Playing devil’s advocate, I guess a game with so much scope needs a year of polishing. I can forgive a few bugs, as long as they aren’t game-breaking. As others have said, some can be pretty damn entertaining!

I skipped Andromeda but the planet exploration overstayed its welcome in the original games for me. And looking at the little bit of footage I've seen of Starfield. It seemed like its mostly just you exploring which is definitely a no go for me.

I hope I'm wrong tho.

People underestimate how long the polish and optimisation phase can take. GOW still took just over a year to release after it was content complete

As long as there are no outright crashes or hangouts or memory leaks causing slowdown Ill be happy.
I still full expect quest glitches or world interaction weierdness no matter how much polish is used.
I plan to play the heck out of Starfield.

Its just called priorities. Some developers really care about what they're putting out vs others. Look at all the Cp2077 delays and it was still a buggy pos. One of the reasons im very skeptical of Dying Light 2.

if this really is skyrim in space, and at least equal to skyrim in quality, I will be happy as fuck
they way factions work, levelling up your character and the perk system works as well as how you're able to interact with all the objects is

but it has different mechanics than Skyrim

I love Bethesda, but Polishness is not their slogan.

I am expecting 10/10 game, with fun bugs. not like the Witcher 3 bugs.

Lol, yup, the best bug for me, a 2 tonne mammut flying around in the sky like an insect, triggered by the physics system and the mammut ”riding” a bug 😋

I fully expect some hilarious bugs in Starfield, hasn’t stopped Bethesda from making some of the best games of all time before so I’m not really worried, just don’t crash.

Can’t wait jump into this new world they’ve created!

Sounds good, if that’s the case I don’t doubt they’ll manage it out this year.

Really looking super forward to this game, hope it delivers in spades.

Same here. i expect higher geometric detail, and some other refined visual effects, likely more light sources, object density.
I expect the game to play like fallout 4 but with space craft.

It gives me vibes of what pre warp earth was like in star trek first contact.
