Our desire is to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation - Phil Spencer

what relationship? Sony destroyed you guys last generation and even clowned you on your polices when the Xbox one launched. When has Sony ever given you anything? A relationship works two ways. Now you spent 70 BILLION dollars on an acquisition and want to share the biggest slice of the pie with Sony?? Phil has lost his mind

Way to go Phil. Start softening up the regulators lol.
Yeah thats what it is basically, they did then same thing when they announced Bethesda. Once the deal is finalized, i'm sure we will get a Bethesda situation with current games already on Playstation staying, with future games Xbox/PC exclusive.

Why would it be their 'desire' to keep COD on Playstaion when they own COD?.
It sounds very much like its 'Sony you want it, then Gamepass is here for you'.

Well COD makes a ton of money on Playstation (for now), maybe looking at the numbers keeping COD on playstation will bring them more money than making it exclusive to Xbox.

Also keeping COD on playstation doesn't mean "release every new COD on playstation", they might just keep Warzone and make the yearly entries exclusive and the statement would still hold true. Or simply use it as marketing tool while still making millions on Playstation: "New COD $70 on ps5 vs included with Gamepass on Xbox/PC with early access to the game, exclusive maps and cosmetics"

Yeah pretty sure Microsoft Gaming is the parent and XGS, Zenimax and ActiBliz are the subsidiaries

Yep. Found it. That's exactly what Phil Spencer said.

"Once the deal is complete, the Activision Blizzard business will report to me as CEO, Microsoft Gaming."

Pay? Pay what? To whom?

Your theory of the case is that he has to put gaming's biggest franchise on other platforms because Twitter will hold him to account?

Because that is what he just said he was what he intends to do.

Do you live under a rock? People have always ragged on bethesda quality, we pretending this wasnt a thing now? Ok 👌
No, not they didn't. Some people ragged on them, the rest appreciated the game for what they were, bugs and all. All of a sudden they're shit games because. ok?

Yeah, it's time for Sony to swallow their pride, and let MS into their walled garden. If they dont, PS gamers lose. I already told you how big I believe Starfield is going to be. In a few years, it will be elder scrolls. If PS gamers lose out on that because Sony couldnt check their ego then that would end up in a PR disaster for sony.

Agreed.

Let gamepass on PS and don't try to fight them with Spartacus. As the saying goes if you can't beat em, join em.

Maybe there is something deeper here we aren't aware of yet... maybe Activision was only planning on putting out a couple more CODs while also secretly building out an ALL NEW Call of Duty replacement with a brand new engine etc. Boom, Xbox exclusive. "We honored COD on Playstation as we said we would!" :p

Spencer is such a troll. With this vague statement he just gave PS fans something to cling on until the deal closes and the curtain drops on COD on Playstation.

The cheeky bastard is probably cackling to himself reading the replies

no it's Warzone. Warzone is the BR that ties into all coming Call of Duty games. and that will remain. look at the wording used. he could have said that Call of Duty will release on PlayStation going forward, but that was not what he said. he said it will "remain" on PlayStation.
This guy gets it.

Whatever you gota tell yourself man
I don't have to tell shit to myself, Skyrim was riddled with bugs and problems, i prefer Morrowind to Skyrim and Oblivion for example. Even so, they all have high user score, not critic score, user score. Are you trying to tell me the games are bad with all those people loving them? Really?

I always frequented their forums and people complained, yes, but not on the level of: "this game is shit". Actually even with the fuckery with the save games on the PS3, people still insisted on playing the games. Shit game i might add, since they're now shit games. Now telll me how is it different from some people saying COD are good games.

Exactly

And what’s the point of not having GP on PlayStation?

At some point GP will be 100% Microsoft games anyways. They don’t need any third party deals

So it’s not like GamePass even loses them any third party sales at that point.

Going to be really interesting to see Sony’s response. At this point NOT having GP on PlayStation means a potential sale for Xbox hardware and that means NO Sony first party sales for that customer

Swallow your pride because there’s no benefit to blocking them

Son, allowing Call of Duty to participate for profits within the PlayStation empire is the privilege.

Microsoft and Activision are already getting paid very well with PlayStation giving them half the userbase for every Call of Duty installment.

Sony is the captain of this ship.

Oh, don't get me wrong i agree with your sentiment but Sony losing Call of Duty hurts Sony a lot more than it will MS. It would be in Sony's best interest to placate MS in some capacity to keep the gravy train moving since it is so lucrative as is. If MS keep it exclusive immediate CoD profits would be cut in grater than half for MS but for Sony it would be cut to big fat ZERO.

If you really think about it, keeping COD on Playstation will most likely sell more Xboxs than you may think.

Cheap 300 Series S is available. The COD nuts who must have everything unlocked and extras will be enticed by Xbox having exclusive content, early access, the works.

Microsoft wasnt stupid when they made a cheap console that is readily available. They were planning on gobbling up publishers and finding ways to entice people onto their platform. Once people try Gamepass Microsoft is betting they will stay in the ecosystem.

Every title doesnt have to be multiplatform.

Who knows they may pull the rug out from Sony, but either way it seems like a big win.

It's shocking how some people don't get such a simple point.

Microsoft will STILL profit from all the sales. They can try to find ways to encourage people to play games on Xbox, but by keeping the game on Playstation they are basically guaranteed to profit at least as much as currently Activision is.
Microsoft is obviously interested in being a publisher. Publishing on PlayStation is a no brainer.
