KOF XV Official Reveal !!

Finally the disc is in my hands! Arrived on time, I'm surprised! :D

I bought this off Epic this morning. For some reason it won't register that I own the DLC outfits. Also when I launch the game a get a window pop-up telling me I'm not authorized to play this game even though it still allows me to play. Getting a refund and buying the Steam version as soon as I get home.
That sucks. In the Steam version costumes are toggled with the shoulder buttons during color select.

A part of me can't believe I am playing it. Steam releases usually unlock in the evening, but this one had preload and just became playable as soon as I booted my computer this morning. Sorry to hear about your Epic trouble.

I’ll grab it on Xbox this weekend

Do you guys know if it's Cross play between PS / Xbox / PC or is it only between PC / PS or PC / Xbox only without matchmaking between PS / Xbox ?

There's rollback netcode so it gotta be possible to play good connection matchs even if the players are very far from one another ?

There is no cross play between systems.

A quick google search says no crossplay.

“Unfortunately, there is no cross platform multiplayer for KOF XV between PlayStation and Xbox, as well as either console with computers. All of this was confirmed in the overview for the second open beta test.”

Whoa, the bosses are really cool this time around. The Disney credits theme is pretty out of place though.

P.S. The Samurai Shodown OST on the jukebox seems to add credence to the Samurai Showdown rumors.
FUCKING HELL!!! Empty roster slots in my future.

While I love Samurai Shodown, I don't think its presence fits KoF at all, even if it can be explained with the multiverse shenanigans.
Is your avatar Lawrence from one of the Fatal Fury movies?

Preordered the game from Best Buy and the game gets delayed and hasn’t arrived at their retail stores yet? I never had a preorder which I rarely do anyway get delayed.

80 on Metacritic is pretty good! I don't care about those reviews, buuuut this is GREAT for SNK!

Really well deserved, game is a joy to play!

Keep strong SNK! <3

Was in the lab with Joe this morning. It's a fine line between getting the most damage you can vs selecting combos you can pull off the majority of the time.

No Omega Edition??
EbJrynf.gif

On the past 4 years, special editions here in brazil was already SUPER expensive. And i always got some for my collection...And i have tons of imported jp games.

Nowdays its impossible to afford. Omega Edition imported + taxes, i would pay something equivalent to 1500$usd... Currency are insane, 1 dollar = 5.60 br.

New retail games like that kof i got, i paid 300$usd equivalent.

I think now u understand...

My physical copy is going to be delivery only in the beginning of march.

Sad, I will try to play here and there while I focus on Elden Ring.

So those that are playing - comparisons to KOFXIV? It sure looks better visually, but I'm interested in opinions on other stuff.

there is not much content for single player?
There are combo trial missions and many music/picture/movie unlockables in addition to Story Mode's arcade ladder. I really enjoy customizing the soundtrack in the game. Survival mode appears to be absent unfortunately.

P.S. Steam version forcibly patched itself on me.

Any hidden unlockable characters? Orochi Yashiro?
Nope, doesn’t appear to be

I’m enjoying this (just finished story mode with all the teams). The Sahara stage looks AMAZING and makes me want a new metal slug game. I know the PC version had ray tracing, but does the PS5 version have it too?

I can’t play online on Series X. After search a match, while entering in a room an error appairs.
Every time.
No issue with other games.

I really like the game but the lack of directional input shortcuts (like 26==236) on the PC version makes executing some of the bigger combos really difficult on controller and many specials impossible on keyboard. Also, the in game graphics options are very limited and require modifying ini files for any real performance or quality tweaks.

Ended up picking this up last night on a whim, I'm having quite a bit of fun with it. So far I've only really dabbled in Training mode, trying out each character to find my team.

I am noticing that some of the characters feel extremely rushed or incomplete. Krohnen for instance only has 3 specials, where most of the cast has between 6-12. It's not like he's got a ton of command normals or a mechanic that I've found that makes up for that either. Then Maxima and Yashiro recycle their own animations several times for specials/ults/etc. Are they just expecting that nobody will like these characters so they didn't spend much time on them, or is the "simple" animation and kits a purposeful design choice for people that like ungabunga characters? Maybe they have good frames or invincibility or something to make up for it?

Anyways, I still have about 1/4th of the cast to try out, but so far my favorites are Luong, Kukri, and Chizuru. Chizuru especially is a fantastic mindgame character with her clones, but right now I get about as confused by them as my opponent likely is, so I'll need some practice time with her. Also, I don't like his gameplay that much but Meitenkun's moveset is full of character and you can tell that they had a lot of fun making him, falling asleep in different positions after his specials and ults. It's a shame that not every character has that amount of love put into them.

Is this the |OT| btw?

Krohnen isn't a rushed character. He isn't new. That's how he always played. Before in past games he went by his code name K9999.

Well it's not like they haven't reworked the kits of some of the other characters, no reason to leave him with only 3 specials. I dunno, maybe he's popular and people are happy with that, it just felt like compared to the rest of the cast he was lacking things.

Same, feels like it only connects 1/10 of the time, seems to be a nat thing as once I find a player it lets me rematch them no trouble, but my nat is open so isn’t an issue my side.

Xbox doesn’t have many players which doesn’t help. I haven’t been able to get some of the achievements due to nobody hosting a singles room. But I hear PS5 version has 90ms of input lag so the PC is the version to get if you have the option.

The game is just so good it’s really got me hooked. Fast loading, decent modes, fun characters and rewarding learning curve. SNK knocked it out of the park. Was very disappointed by both 14 and SamSho and had my doubts about this. But now I’m like, SF6 announcement can wait.

Like most Eolith era characters, K9999's specials just serve a purpose (close distance, anti-air, ranged attack) and the relatively easy combos are the meat of the character. As simple as they appear, Maxima, Krohnen, and Yashiro in the right hands can be relentless in their rushdowns. You might want to check out mission mode for a few sample combos for the cast (just demo them if you can't do them yet).

Last I checked Street Fighter's Ryu also recycles animations with added particle effects for specials and supers...

Well it's not like having a small kit makes them bad characters, I was just saying it felt a little off that he's only got 3 specials compared to the rest of the cast. Ryu's kit fits perfectly in line with the amount of moves that other characters have in SFV though, so you're kinda missing my point. Anyways, I'm not trying to argue that he's bad, just seems like overall less effort was put into him than say Beni or Kyo etc.

I am just saying that he came about and has been brought back from a time when KoF was owned by a South Korean company.

I really hope Snk adding crossplay soon.
This genre and this ip in particolar needs more help to grow as community.
So stupid to divide players :(

Oooooh, that explains a lot.
Is that sarcasm? KoF 2001 is a pain to look at or listen to. The bankruptcy of SNK in 2000 really lowered its quality. It and 2002 are borderline reverse engineered M.U.G.E.N. for the Neo Geo.

No no. I didn't knew that they were once owned by a South Korean company. Explains A LOT to me of what happened to character design - it's gone downhill from a certain point (2000 onward), and I now see typical South Korean design choices (that I hate).

Yeah 2001 looked awful compared to 2000. 2002 looked bad too, but its been regarded as one of the best ones. I'm a 1998 guy though.

I am a '96/'98 guy myself. 2002 is fun in small doses, but there are times when some characters feel off and the damage output is absurd. I do enjoy the Guard Break Mode of KoF Neowave which ported many of 2002's assets to the Atomiswave arcade system.

You lucky bastard. You lucky, lucky bastard. What I wouldn't give to have my directional inputs come out cleanly on controller for this game. You lucky bastard. You must think the sun shines out your ass.
I am just kidding with you. Congrats on your new acquisition. I just couldn't help but parody Monty Python's The Life of Brian.
