G4 presenter in 2021: PlayStation (in 2022) is a dead man walking.
Jim Ryan in 2022:

She probably wasn’t the root cause of it but she did a lot of damage to the brand by going after the biggest demo the show had. G4 isn’t exactly easy allies or kinda funny, their fans are made up of older millennials that watched their stuff on cable. They basically said, everyone that tuned in to see the type of content G4 was known for should pretty much fuck off, and thats exactly what they did.

They would have never survived the amount of people that after that made it their mission to speak negatively about them or just tune them out alttogether. My issue is it just didn’t seem like there were enough people that were actually passionate about gaming. It felt like they were just throwing a bunch of ‘content’ at a wall and hoping it stuck.

God of Work was funny, sad to see people loose work but I can’t say I watched much of their stuff. Was hopping for more stuff like Portal and AotS.

They went from man humor with Funhaiswhich is banned, to a woke children channel network aimed for kids, with former member pedo Ryan setting the low bar.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^And there's pretty much one person to blame.

Good work, Comcast. Take the garbage out when it starts stinking.

I feel bad for Kevin Pereira - though from what I understand (and what I read - only Kevin knows the true story) is that he was only onboard for a year regardless of what happens. He got out at the nick of time though. He now does the occasional gaming youtube where he plays ring of pain, sings music, and acts like a good natured dork. Great content without the absolute BS that was G4.

While many will disagree , I thoroughly enjoyed Adam Sessler’s reviews. He was the only thing I watched on G4TVs YouTube channel though. I do miss the good ole cinematech and portal shows from way back then.

If you think her rant was an attack on you personally maybe take a step back lmao.

Maybe it shouldn't have been in programming but there were a lot to dumb motherfuckers saying some dumb motherfucking stuff that led up to the rant.
She sure did say some dumb stuff leading up to that rant. That the PS5 is dead on arrival. Or was it PS5 was a dead man walking? Something like that. Something that obviously got nerds mad and drew a lot of fanboy animosity that then lead to her doing the usual schtick of "I'm being attacked because of the special group I'm in, not because of any dumb stuff I said or did" which is still the #1 go-to-move in the corpo playbook right now and I hope normal people start figuring that move out soon

Too much weight is being given to the rant re: bringing the network down. Outside of the gaming sphere, I doubt very few people knew about it and if they did they probably didn't care. That being said, outside of the gaming sphere, I doubt very few people knew about G4 and if they did they probably didn't care, and I think that had way more to do with its cancelation.

Which is why it wasn’t a good idea to go to war with the little fans you did have

I used to like Sessler but in recent years his verbiage turned me off.

The new G4 is a far cry from its initial inception. Attack of the Show and X Play (previously Extended Play) were such great staples to the network. This time it felt like a hodge podge of...stuff 😵‍💫. I did enjoy seeing Adam Sessler once again tho. Yet, everything just felt so off.

Seeing Frosk attack the viewing fan base, which was starting to dwindle anyway, was the final nail in the coffin. From what I read, it was UNSCRIPTED as she was supposed to talk about what she didn't like abut RDR 2. The true hosts reaction from her diatribe was silence. The "GET EM FROSK" comment was edited in from another segment.

A shame, really. I miss Morgan, Olivia and Layla (🥵🥵 lord she was fine! Well all of them were really.) Kevin and Adam were great hosts as well.

The issue was, G4 used to be this fun love letter to geekdom. They were passionate and friendly, open to debate and just got hyped over every new game, movie, show, and tech that got announced. That passion radiated to the audience and with shows like Judgment Day, Cinematech, Code Monkeys, and more - it was clear they truly loved gaming as a whole.

Modern G4 didn't. There were a few that truly did care, like Jirard, but so many were slacktivist fuck nuggets who cared more about their own egos and pretending to fight for some cause than to do their fucking jobs.

It was fun back in the day but I’d rather just go to Youtube. There’s dozens upon dozens of people making quality retrospectives, critiques, analysis, nostalgic, speedrun, combo, etc videos in any game you can think of. 80% of my Youtube subscriptions are videogame-related.

What Comcast SHOULD do is instead of completely disregarding the entirety of the content is to release to old school stuff on YouTube for free to watch it for nostalgia.

Echoing a lot of others here, even if you ignore Froskgate, new G4 wasn't going to survive in the post-Youtube, post-Twitch world, where there are thousands of people releasing similar content to G4's and this people are clearly more passionate about tech and gaming than the random nobodies from Twitter that they hired.

Watching Cinematech was pretty nice I'll say. In the early days, EVERYONE WAS PASSIONATE about games and tech and everything in between. Now, shit ain't like that no more. 😞

There still are people absolutely passionate about games and its the same folks that were back in those days. The issue is that gaming is so ubiquitous and geek culture is not as small as it once was. So you have "normies" and such (for lack of a better term) joining in. Couple that with the advent of social media, you see EVERYONE'S asses. Its why I advocate for the removal/banning of social media platforms like twitter and facebook. Its a literal plague that is ruining discourse both online and off.

I honestly think there is room for produced, quality content about video games. It’s so hard to pull off and the world is a lot more different than it was when G4TV was in it’s prime.
