The first time in a long time that a cod game is one of my top 3 games of the year. Everything is just impeccable to me as a casual player. Multiplayer is fun, the campaign is awesome. Just an awesome, complete package. Unfortunatley we dont get a lot of complete packages in the gaming world these days. As of now, its probably my number 3 game of the year behind bayonetta 3 and elden ring

Thats how I felt in the beta. But this release? I feel like I have won 80% of my matches, maybe even closer to 90%. Will post my W/L ratio when they let us see it.
Please note that I am average *at best*.

Just feels like the spawns are so aggressive that if you kill someone they’re back on you in moments.

Why would anyone pay for this...I honestly don't get it

I have money? Plus I plan on playing this game for quite a while. I usually pick up one CoD game every few years. I used to be big into INfinity Ward up until they fucked it up with MW2’s balancing (The MP, while absolutely fun was so broken and unbalanced it ruined my enjoyment of the series for a long time). Then I got into Treyarch’s games and had, for the longest time, considered Black Ops II to be the best CoD game, period. Then they fucked it up with Black Ops III and IV. But then Infinity Ward made a good CoD again with MOdern Warfare 2019, so now I am back with them XD

Currently no hardcore mode and honestly with this TTK not sure why someone would need one at this point

Better question is...why is HC mode taking longer than others to arrive. Its literally TTK = 0. They got the coop mode up and running but the simplest HC is for whatever reason taking time.

TTK And the net code still leads to instances of shooting a player and having them turn around and instantly gun you down. HC helps alleviate that frustration.

Comparing the game’s current TTK to HC as being similar enough to not need HC is silly.

This is insane, lol. So what are people paying $70 for when they removed a whole stack of playlist matches? Not being funny, I'm legit curious.

Paid $70 to play my arcadey modes Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint. Having a great time!

I’ve never cared about Hardcore since cod4, and neither does the competitive scene, but I’m sure it will arrive soon.

I'm glad you're having a time with it. But we sure do live in some insane times. This games as a service bullshit needs to die in a fucking fire, but we're so far removed that it appears too late.

Just crazy to me they've been developing this game for like 3 years and it still comes out unfinished from what's been said and the little I've seen from it.

For someone that played every single COD on release, here are my 2 cents; I think the SP is great, a proper reboot. Instead of the Gulag you got a prison in Mexico. Instead of a dual sniper stealth mission in Russia, we got one in Spain etc. They didn't add the "No Russian" mission but they did give a nod to the guy at the end of the campaign. Also like how they al went into "Ghosts" mode for the last part. That game got a lot of flack but I think its a nice Easter egg if you can call it that. I read here some people say its not as bombastic or crazy like the old CODs but I beg to differ. If anything it became a little more realistic as in, you can't just open fire in the middle of the city and blast RPGs all over the place. Its more grounded.

The one dislike are 2 no weapon missions, especially the second one. Resident Evil 8 can pull off this crafting but COD is not a good stealth game...theres no meter to even show if you are hidden or not, you just hope they don't see you. The last mission was really bad in that regard, overpowered enemies, takes ages for you to get to anything and don't get me even on that missile command suitcase. Its interesting they put armored enemies just like in Warzone so they are much beefier but I think there's too many of them in some maps. Usually I try to go for VETERAN on every COD but I'm not so sure about this one especially for the tank mission which was kicking my ass even on normal. After the dogs hit that Vanguard was, this is like a holy grail lol.

I have been going back through kind of picking and choosing missions to replay on veteran and even realism and that tank mission destroys me on veteran so I gave up

Hats off to everyone who finished that

I get you man and this release is indeed rougher than your average CoD launch. Basic features are missing and that's unacceptable. But 100% this is a GAAS game moreso than any other game in the series. It HAS to be a continuously evolving product because it has to fill 2 years. Considering most/all of the non-cosmetic content they add will be free, I don't see that as a bad thing. There's a bunch of people who never played the CoD4 dlc maps or the Black Ops dlc maps, we don't have to worry about players not having access to that stuff anymore. At least not anytime soon.

Yep agreed. Not making excuses for the missing stuff but i think its a great base to build off and theres enough content to keep me more than happy for now. It'll be my main game for the forseable, roll on season 1.

Developed during covid. Hardcore coming in a couple of weeks. Personally i like games like this that evolve over time, Its not like Halo that launched bare bones, theres loads here and worth the £60 as is imo. We'll get 2 years of free updates and thats better than a static game with map packs that cost and split the base for me personally.

The weapon upgrade/unlock system is weirdly convoluted. Like, I need to level this gun, to unlock this other gun and level it to a point, to get a certain attachment. I guess it encourages you to try guns you normally wouldn't, but I don't know that I'm a huge fan of this system.

Anyway put quite a few hours into the game over the weekend and I'm liking it a lot, as a casual player the matchmaking seems to be doing its job.

I like that they force you to experiment, but I would prefer if it wouldve been easier to figure out what I need to do to unlock everything for a single weapon, in a list for example.

Is the M16 the only 3 burst weapon? I love 3 burst - feel like this version of COD has almost all single or semi auto.....

It's tedious (will take 5-15 minutes) but try making a list of the unlock paths for guns. They are incredibly simple - just level up in general, or level up a specific gun. Then you can (more) easily identify how to get any gun you want. And attachments come from just using the gun. Very easy.

Seriously, they should do a lot more for the third person mode. Throw in all the maps that are suitable for it, all the core maps basically. Team DM, Domination, etc. Third person is awesome.

The mechanics and gun play are great but man the maps. There are a couple great ones but I don’t know how some of them even made it into a real game, fuck me they are bad.

This has been my call of duty expirience on a high end pc. Day 1-2 crashing non stop. Day 3-4 game wont even load anymore. I reinstalled windows and reinstalled the game about 5-6 times. Scanned and repaired about 40 times ran everything in admin mode and get the same error over and over. No help from blizzard / battle.net. Nothing on the internet works. I have no idea what to do anymore. The more help button tells me to run the game in admin mode.

I'm not a fan, but it does encourage you to try out different guns. Right now I am using the Vaznev 9K to get 74U upgrades.

Which maps do you guys think are bad?

Border crossing is awful. Its perhaps worse than Euphrates Bridge or Picadilly. Valderas is pretty bad.

The rest I actually like. Highlights are probably Breenbergh, the F1 raceway and Embassy. I also kind of like Taraq in Hardpoint, its not a good map but I had some fun matches and good killstreaks there.

I think MW2 maps are better than MW2019 maps overall (based on S1). Hackney Yard was great, and Vacant was still very good (which was from the OG game) But for the rest I had huge issues with mostly all maps in MW2019. Picadilly, Euph, Azhir, Rammaza etc they were trash. And the reason Shoot House was so beloved was because it was pretty much the sole map that didn't enforce camping, I disliked that one as well. And why Crash was so fucking garbage in 2019, because it was a camp fest lol.

Not a fan either as I simply don't want to play some gun I hate to unlock an attachment for a weapon I love

Thank goodness Invasion lets you level weapons up fast

I actually don’t think any of the maps are bad, though I prefer some more than others.

Stark contrast to 2019 and all te garbage tier maps. Cold War maps were far >>>> MW2 maps IMO.

I would say my LEAST favorite of the MW2 maps would be Valderas Museum (which I actually haven’t gotten in rotation at all since the beta ended and the full game began) and Taraq. But I still think they are both ok maps, not bad.

Someone help. I can't kill anyone for shit while I see players regularly hitting 25-30 kills. I'm lucky to get 10-12 kills. It's usually see a player and lose a 1 on 1, like almost 95% of the time. Win a 1 on 1 then there's another guy to mop me up. Ranged battles I just back away because the recoil is so mental I always lose. I'm having to resort to some serious camping to get even a UAV. Bring on HC because I'm close to throwing the MP in the bin.

Few things I've noticed is operator is not what I've chosen or the emblems. I haven't played racetrack at all online and I've been hammering it since launch. Not one game on that map so far.

Campaign was good and performance on PS5 has been pretty damn exceptional save for the crashing. I don't think this is getting the praise it deserves in the graphics department. Looks glorious. That oil rig mission looked and played superbly.

I actually like most of the maps. Just the wide open one is a bit shit, but i just join in on sniper-fest if it come up. Miles better than the launch maps in 2019. Do we get a new map with season one?

Also would like to see gun game return at some point.

I like most of the maps quite a bit, even border crossing once all the vehicles have been destroyed can be fun. I rarely played on Raceway so can’t comment on that one too much. I do wish there were more maps though, there just aren’t enough right now. Really hoping we get a lot of remakes of classic maps because most of the new ones, while pretty good are still not great compared to the ones from older games. Would love to see pretty much anything from cod4 and mw2 make a return.

I haven't had the operator bug. Remember to make him/her your "favorite" in the operator menu, not just select them. And as for the racetrack I have played that at least 20 times by now. Shows up a ton in Hardpoint. Sorry that you're having trouble with the MP. In addition to Hardcore at some point, we're also getting Warzone 2 in a couple weeks. And the new DMZ and Raid modes too. I'm sure you'll find a mode you vibe with if running around like a headless chicken in 6v6 isn't for you.

Season 1 will have two new maps. One on November 16, which is the same day Warzone 2 releases, and one on December 14, which is the same day Raid mode releases.

So people have their favorite and disliked maps, but what actually makes a map bad or good for you guys?

The only one I actively dislike so far is Taraq, and that's because snipers hang out on the outside and everyone else meat grinds in the middle. Feels like two separate map ideas smooshed together

Would love it if they brought Lorne Balfe back for MW3.

Also, why did they get rid of the music that played at the start of multiplayer matches depending on what faction you are.

Don’t give up. I am probably averaging around 25 K per match (highest has been 42). But I think I am better in this than 2019. Different people excel under different physics and such. This one just speaks to me more.

Try a different gun. Some have way lower TTK than others. M4 is really strong to start with, honestly, SMGs I love but they can take a lot longer to down depending on which one.

Centering is very important in this game… I never knew how much it made a difference until a friend helped me understand (he is a better overall FPS player than me). What that means is you should be pointing your gun at the corner every time you come to one and rotate it around the corner as you are coming to it, so basically your gun is aiming straight down the wall when you come to turn.

The operator / emblem / calling card glitch seems to be affecting many, myself included.

Hope I can help somewhat!
