A review embargo this close to release is not a good sign...

"Forspoken puts you in the shoes of Frey, a New Yorker who's been transported to the world of Athia. As you'd expect, the goal is to find your way home, and you're assisted in this journey through some brand-new (to you) magical abilities that help you traverse and battle yourway across this new world. Ahead of launch, we've got the Forspoken review embargo details for you now.
The review embargo for Forspoken is set for Monday, January 23rd at 6:00 a.m. PST. Head over to the Forspoken Page for all the reviews when it drops!"

I tried the demo, and coming from FFXV I don’t see why the performance and presentation is the way it is. After 7 years I would have expected more than this.

The only game I'm looking forward to I can't actually play. The demo made the combat look good.

After playing the demo the empty open world reminded me of something and I couldn't quite place it.

Then I realized what the soul-less empty open world was from...Final Fantasy XIV 1.0.

Its odd, I'm not a fan of FFXV but for all the shortcomings and what ended up being a rushed game following the project reboot, it is still technically impressive even on base PS4 and holds up today.

So with Forspoken they had a generational leap in tech to work with and 6-7 years after that released to get more out of the Luminous Engine, but it looks uneven.

Square should just go all in on UE5 now and with whatever FFXVI is using and vanquish the Luminous Studio to the abyss.

The combat is good and so is the traversal but the open world needs a lot of work

I might still buy it but idk about day 1

Is it just me or has cuff and Frey's dialogue been even more reduced in the latest update?

I noticed how much more quiet they were being even at the minimal setting

I think this game gets a lot of undue hate. I played the demo and while at first play it won't be scooping any goty, it's certainly playable, the magic is enjoyable and the traversal is no worse than any other 'Press up to open world'.

I think this could be a game that isn't received well but draws an audience from positive wom after its been in the wild a couple months.

Meh. SE have shown themselves to be spectacularly bad at this "video game" thing. If this game didn't have SONY involved, I doubt we'd even have it to be honest. It is the first AAA game release of the year and somehow has received zero advertising on STEAM or arenas outside of the PS5 - all while being saddled with a 70 dollar "next-gen" cost on PC, with some spectacularly egregious regional pricing.

SE is sending this game out to die, and doing the absolute minimum I think is required of them in terms of helping the game succeed. A slapdash review embargo that releases a day before the game goes live is more evident of this than the games quality. Speaking of -

I can't wait to see this game fail. Not gonna review bomb it though.

Why? Like I'm fine with simply not enjoying the game (if you've actually played it), but I'm legit curious why you want the game to fail as a matter of course (and not just expecting it to fail). I mean I'm sure I know why, but just curious.

Are SE known for giving review code out early?
Cuz this could simply be par for the course with them.

Also noting this game almost certainly will have a sizeable day one patch.

Is it really ‘positive word of mouth’ or Just the usual sales bump from significant price cuts months after launch?

83 MC. I liked the demo quite a lot but I'm still apprehensive about it. It seems like an uneven game. It's not like I have any money to buy it so whatever. Grabbing it when it's half price on next Black Friday.

Because Square Enix is gross and bad and they turned final Fantasy 7 into Kingdom Hearts and they turned Kingdom Hearts into a shonen anime, and they turned Chrono Cross into Chrono Cross, and these didn't please me so I naturally actively want the work several hundred people went through for years to be met with abysmal, unable to break even, low profits. Also fucking Nomura. Fucking FFXV. Fucking FFXIII. Fucking FFXII. Fucking FFX-2. This company hasn't made a good game since Final Fantasy III on the NES. Original. Not that DS chibi, we're all such cute anime archetype bullshit version. Only missing was some 37 year old voice actress from Cali pretending to be a hyperventilating Japanese school girl with all of the ooohs aaaaahs and moans.

I'm gonna shit in a bag and mail it Square Headquarters and tell them "I've enjoyed all of your products, so here, take this; something I worked JUST as hard on. *squirt*

Didn't they work on some Avengers shit, too? Fucking Marvel.

Most of the impressions from people with review copies have been positive and say the experience is a lot better starting from the beginning instead of what the demo did.

I think it’ll review better than expected. 84MC is my guess.

Just like hogwarts will be rated lower this game will be rated slightly higher for the same reasons. So I’m going to say most “ reviews “ will give it 8s.

I can't believe anyone who's ever played a video game before would play that demo and guess anything in the 80's for this, lol. It's a mess.

I don’t think it’ll score too badly. It’s difficult to gauge a full game from a demo at the best of times, especially when it is likely based on an older build.

I honestly don’t know what to expect from the reviews, but I’m interested to see how it pans out.

I have similar thoughts. Outside of the forced walking/loading bits in FF7R I was more impressed with that game overalll from a technical standpoint.

I enjoyed the demo and look forward to when it releases. Took me a little to adjust but when I di
Started figuring things out and playing i found it quite fun.

I'm still hopeful the developers can get things polished for a good release. I love games with a heavy focus on movement abilities, and this looks like it could be a lot of fun if done right.
