Imo what they have scrapped is mostly for the good. Hope they removed the giant Salazar statue bit.

You still want campy? The original is still there to play.
They already turned that dude into a grandma, do you want to cut the only iconic thing he has left?

He's not to be taken seriously? Why in the hell not? Yes he makes fun of shit, but if you watch his OG RE4 review you can tell he loves it.

He liked the remake as well but they removed all the campy stuff, and didnt replace it with anything cool.

Wow. If I only I knew my opinion on Yahtzee would trigger you enough to spend the next few hours acting like a angry kid and spoiling the game for people. Get your shit together.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I have it in my fucking hands

Lets gooo

The only thing better than Twahtzee are his pseudo intellectual fanboys in the comments there. You can almost SMELL the BO and imitation. I once watched a video about Brain surgery. I've since moved three times and changed my name to get away from the bereaved family of the man who was lost under my knife. The point of the story is, just because you watch a dude whose main shtick is shotgunning British flavored insults doesn't suddenly make YOU the clever one, RandomCommenter#53.

That said, I don't think anyone actually watches Yahtzee with the express goal of deciding whether or not to purchase the game. He's a bit reviewer.
Stopped trusting Yahtzee ages ago. He's so old and miserable now. I know the joke was that he was always negative, but it's stopped being fun. The Hogwarts Legacy review was just excruciating.

I've been enjoying this livestream. Not sure how old it is, or if it's actually live, but they are useful for me to really determine if I want to buy the game or not, so I figured I'd post it here. Spoilers obviously. He looks like he's still in the village area, before the castle...

Not saying you have to trust him, it's just another view of a avid RE4 fan. Not everybody has to like everything.

Ok so I'm sure like many people I downloaded the OG game in Preparation for this.

Firstly it's still a classic after having only a solid time with Hogwarts Legacy it really made me appreciate a Great Game.

BUUUUTTT is it perfect? The Greatest TPS ever? Hell No! In 2023 you must be high as a Kite to still think that.

Firstly I didn't realize how broken the knife was. It completely kills the resource management of the game. I was watching some berk on YouTube cry about this but it frigging needs a Durability meter. Even on Hardcore I have enough ammo to take on half of Spain.

Secondly Ashley can fuck off. It's fine on normal but the amount of times she got killed on Hardcore has made my blood boil.

Thirdly the Bosses are Over rated. There still good and all very distinctive and memorable. But other than a few gimmicks there all very limited. A good chunk of them are basically pumping them full lead create space and repeat. If you just want twitch skill Returnals are Better. If you want TPS boss fights with depth Fight Horizon's Big Machines ( That will trigger some of you fine I will die on this hill!)

Finally the Controls. I've heard people call them "Tight" or "Perfect". Again High as a Kite. Okay there functional but the enemies and especially Bosses are mechanically really limited to accommodate them. Exploring with them is really tiresome and annoying try finding the Blue medallions without a Guide and you will see what I mean.

Rant over it's still excellent the core combat against the Gandos and other enemies is still really good. The Gandos have to be the most buffoonish and hilarious enemies I've fought in a long time.

But I'am glad it's getting improved in the remake because it frigging needs it

You guys.

This game is so fucking good you guys.

They really captured lightning in a bottle twice.

Yes. So far, they have not cut any thing from the game play mechanics and have only added more on top.

Goddamnit the wait is gonna kill me today. My PC better download fast once midnight hits.

Are you really comparing a suvival horror game with Returnal and HZD?

Sure why not?

There all TPS at the end of day. Obviously they have different goals etc but I don't see why you can't compare certain aspects. I'am not saying Returnal and Horizon are better overall game's although if you must know I would rank them

1. Returnal
2. Resident Evil 4
3. Horizon Zero Dawn
4. Horizon Forbidden West.

The fact they removed the gore and have no head beheadings?
They did not remove gore. The game is vastly gorier moment-to-moment than the original. You can rip villagers apart with the shotgun, limbs flying and so on. You can shoot their legs off. None of that was in the original. There's plenty to criticize about this remake, especially the drying-sack-of-cement movement and janky shit like not being able to instantly crouch from a sprint if you have run on Hold, no need to invent gripes.

What you are correct about however is that beheadings typically affect the head, yes.

edit: 2 remake is one of best games of all time. never played 3.... is it really bad? I've launched it up on steam last week , played 30 minutes and it seem great but I will do full playthrough some time later

This is gold.

Different genres, different moods, different intentions. RE4 is meant to be scary. Horizon is meant to be spectacular. This isn't hard to understand.

There is no visible gore done to Leon, so yes, they did remove gore.

Yes you can kill the Ganados as much as you want, with visible gore. But nothing will be done to Leon, thats wack imo. Its iconic

Well in 2022 its fails spectacularly as a horror. Its a comedy game these days

Don't be obuse RE4 lent into the action way harder than any RE prior. Its the grand daddy of TPS it fine to compare tps mechanics regardless of tone or mood.

Regardless of comparisons do agree or disagree with what I said about the boss fights? Are they really simple or not? Does this matter in game focused more on horror than action?

It's slightly goofy horror, but the gameplay is still mainly shuffling around slowly and standing still to aim. It's got some action sequences but the gameplay doesn't reflect that. Comparing it to games made twenty years later that are of an entirely different genre is silly.

True the bossfights aren't great. They look cool but that's about it.
