Man, Starfield better be the beees kneeez.

It’s already going to score high from the usual suspects. Guaranteed. The lack of big releases, questionable quality, the hype and talk about Starfield that has built up considerably the last two years and it looks like that what was supposed to be 2022 release schedule is to be the saving grace.

Regardless of its quality at launch, it will receive high scores because it needs to and the sell out, no integrity brigade will oblige.

It also raises the question, if Redfall and Starfield had not been delayed, what was Xbox’s 2023 line up ?

WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH PUTTING ACHIEVEMENTS THAT HAVE A POINT VALUE THAT DOES NOT END IN A 5 OR 0!!!! I just unlocked an achievement that was worth 17 MOTHERFUCKING POINTS! For real, it's some god damn bullshit. Who thinks that is a good idea? Now I have a God damn 2 at the end of my score and will have to literally hunt for an achievement that can get me back to a number that ends in 5 or 0. I feel bad for wasting the coal that burned to power the server to host this good forsaken piece of shit game.
Mad Max has an 8 and 3 pointer achievement. Good luck!

The game was already given a full calendar year extension from its original summer '22 launch.

If they push it 'early' that's an issue, if they delay it again, that'd have been an issue.

What would you have done in this case?
In this case? I honestly don't know what I would have done to save this game as it needs a rework

Sometimes you need to know when to move on.

The concept of Redfall just isn't very appealing. A delay wouldn't have helped it.

Starfield on the other hand? Has a lot of potential appeal. But it can't be another Cyberpunk situation. Needs a delay to make a strong first impression
Starfield is by far my most anticipated title in quite some time and I don't want anyone to think I am just Xbox bashing because honestly I really want Xbox to be decent if not great

They better bring some fire in that June showing

I think you can get gamepass native on the deck if you're willing to dual boot windows. If I'm not mistaken Topher Topher has his set up like that, but yeh I'd suggest asking in the deck OT because this is way off topic.

Oh yes, you definitely can. But I don't dual boot so the only way I can do it is by Streaming.

Dual booting is a waste of space either way, imo. Two operating systems in a limited capacity device just didn't work for me.

lmao. In fairness, Jimbo has tried. 2 years of cross gen games, dumb investments in GaaS studios who have yet to produce anything, greedy price increases on both software and hardware, and insanely dumb timed exclusives like Godfall, Deathloop and Ghostwire tokyo are stuff his predecessors would never tolerate. He's just been lucky that Sony first party is now almost as popular as Nintendo first party, and Sony has a brand that seems to be infallible to any kind of bad news. I was shocked to see sales go UP after the Activision acquisition. I had figured people wouldve begun switching before the deal ran into trouble.

I guess he does deserve some credit for it all seeing as how he's been in charge for a good 5 years now. He's somehow managed to buy Bungie, finally lock in Insomniac, Bluepoint, Housemarque, and several other studios like Nixxes for doing PC ports which frees up devs like Insomniac to focus on Playstation development. And of course, the sales speak for themselves. I guess both Philbo and I got this one wrong.

Jimbo had the only platform with next-gen exclusives at launch and for the past 2 years.

Yeah I want them to be great too. Hated the Bethesda acquisition because it took away gamer choice, but I still want their games to be good. Starfield is more appealing to me than anything Bethesda has done, it is their crown jewel studio of the entire Zenimax purchase that once had huge gaming clout....they really should NOT rush it if it's not ready.

It is way too big to let fail.

And agree @ their June showcase. How many years are we going to let go by before having a meaningful update on Perfect Dark, Everwild, Coalition, Fable, etc....? It really is time to instill some confidence in the future of the brand and stop trying to let acquisitions bail you out.

Peter Moore and Jim Allard were the reasons 360 era was great. Since they left, Xbox division has been a mess. I like the Xbox hardware and controllers. But in the last decade every game apart from Forza has been some sort of a disaster. Last gears and halo games were ok, but they won’t be remembered like the previous games in the series.
Yeah it really has been a mess. I agree with you about the hardware; the One X and Series X have been very good hardware wise but it's lacking special and memorable first party games. Agree with you about Gears and Halo. I liked the first half of Gears 5 but the second half was boring imo. Halo Infinite's campaign was ok, but nothing outstanding. Nothing that special for a fps campaign and definitely not as good as the campaigns of Halo 2 & Halo Reach.

Jimbo is a greedy executive that does some stupid greedy exec things but he seems to know how the sausage is made and to not mess with it too much despite some of those head scratching foibles of his.

Well, Diablo 4 seems to be good. We shall see if Final Fantasy 16 is fine.

It is pretty guaranteed the next Zelda game is good.

I'm the same, have XSX, PS5 and 3080 gaming PC. Series X collects the most dust but it is a beast of a console with lacklustre content. PS5 is the most premium experience, putting games aside, the controller alone is great, and the UI just feels more alive to me. It seems Xbox thought giving people access to more games with Gamepass was better than having AAA exclusives. We all know how that is turning out. Sony still selling PS5's like hot cakes.
Yep I agree, the PS5 controller feels more special. Even the plastic that's used for the dualsense feels a grade above the Xbox controller which feels a bit cheap and not very nice to touch. And I agree about the UI. The PS5's UI is snappier and more attractive (though Xbox has an updated UI coming in the future so we'll see if it improves). And yeah, Gamepass should be a secondary focus of Xbox. It should be seen as a supplementary service offered by the console and not the main focus imo. High-quality first party offerings should be the focus imo.

I just played Redfall for the last four hours.

It's fine.

It doesn't really do anything memorable (so far) and it clearly lacks polish. Feels more like a Steam indie shooter than a first party AAA release. I haven't played more than a few minutes of any previous Arkane game so I have no frame of reference there, but had I spent $70 on this I do know I'd be pissed.

For the cost of monthly GP, playing multi with a couple friends is fun enough. Me and the mates all still expect to see it through to the end and it is far from the worst multiplayer game I've tried on game pass in the last few years.

If you want to view this in the context of "Microsoft's first exclusive AAA release in forever" or "Xbox needs a win after the acquisition" or any of the other horserace stuff, then yeah it's kinda shit. I'm having a good time but idk that I'd recommend it.

If this was a $20 Steam early access title and not 1st party Xbox game it'd be viewed much more favorably.

Different genres and all that, but Hi-Fi Rush is 10x the game this is.

That is essentially what is going on. The PS5 is becoming more special than the XSX. It is becoming the cool console.

I third the opinion the PS5 controller is awesome. I never thought Sony would be able to top Xbox in this regard. But as someone who values the single player experience, the PS5 controller adds another layer with the haptic feedback and makes the experience feel more premium.

Modern warfare 2 was the first COD I bought for a PlayStation console and the campaign was enhanced with the PS5 controller.

Doesn’t hurt that 3rd party games just run better on PS5 too - huge blow for Xbox since it’s supposed to be more powerful.

This is so bad that im genuinely curious about what they had planned for release before. I Just put about an hour and a half into it and nah man...this feels like an unfinished Xbox One game in every way..I Legit liked Deathloop and damn near all of their other games and this just feels like 100 steps back.

I shot a whole clip at a group of enemies from like 10 feet away and they didnt even react, they just stood there looking at each other. It just doesn't feel finished at all..this feels like something they were planning to release but once it took too long to come together they should have just silently cancelled it.

FWIW, it performs amazingly well on my (now fairly ancient) 9900k + 2080 Ti system. I've yet to actually play the game properly but it's pushing close to 100fps at 4k with DLSS depending on the setting.

I don't think hitting 60fps should be a major problem for this game on the consoles.

Ok I played it for 45 minutes on pc and I felt like I was playing an unfinished mod for Skyrim. I even had Bethesda pop in during the main menu. The few guns were cool and the small bit of the world I saw was ok. The textures kinda look like place holders for hd textures. I will be playing more after work tomorrow because I do see how the game can be enjoyable. My biggest issue with the game though so far would be the humans
They stand there and don't do anything. I had 5 guys with guns letting everyone know I was there but only 1 took a shot at me and was pointing the wrong way.

Make the humans aggro better and give them that AI brain everyone is so scared of these days and we could have something that would be good enough to play until the game is patched a few times

With that said it I liked it better than back for blood, evolve and world war z.

I don't they should update their review scores (because Xbox/Arkane chose to launch the game in that state, they made their bed they should lie in it) but I'd be fine with reviewers at least revisiting the title once patches are out.
The reviews will be updated after patches drop. These type of games always have their reviews adjusted
