Head of Xbox Phil Spencer will be on the Kinda Funny XCast tomorrow

If Kinda Funny's history is any indication, they will eschew actual challenging questions and opt for an absolutely historic dick-riding.
The only time they ever took a hard stance was when they kicked out Colin over a joke. Kinda Funny are actually Kinda Fucked to be brutally honest.

…huh? Did you miss the last 10 years of Greg being a complete marketing tool for any corporation willing to work with him?
It was sarcasm.

Kinda Funny is a useless platform that just won't pose any tough questions, whatever happens. I'm happy to be surprised though.

Opening line of the interview: Kinda funny you're here Phil, what happened to Redfall

These guys won't ask the questions that need to be asked. They don't have the cojones and Phil knows it, hence he's agreed to this.
There's that, and I also think he thought he could take a victory lap after the Redfall launch, leading into his annual promise festival next month.

At this point, there's no reason not to assume that his tastes and understanding of games are that bad.

The Redfall saga is probably gonna beat the shit out of the Cyberpunk 2077 one.

It really shouldn't. Cyberpunk was a far more anticipated game that friggin Redfall. Yes, I realize Redfall can be used in console wars nonsense unlike Cyberpunk.

Now, Starfield on the other hand, is a far different matter than Redfall. It actually has people excited about it.

It's gonna beat the Cyberpunk one precisely because of how it will affect the perception of Starfield, and because it also affects the perception of Microsoft as a 1P publisher.

Can we get bingo card predictions for what will be in this interview?
  • "We are more committed/hopeful than ever for the ABK acquisition to pass."
  • "We believe gaming is for everyone, no matter where you choose to play."
  • "Redfall > Arkane did a wonderful job. We will learn from our mistakes."
  • "Starfield is fantastic."
  • "I have never been this excited for the future of Xbox games and Xbox."
  • "We have the best lineup of games in the pipeline now in the history of Xbox."
  • Complaints about Sony in the context of ABK.
  • Phil talks about at length one old game that he has been playing recently.
  • Avoid questions about Game Pass and Xbox's profitability and sustainability, if asked.
  • At least one extremely long-winded nothing-burger answer of a straight-forward question.

Part of me thinks this interview might be ill-advised, at best he tells you what you already know and apologizes, at worst he inadvertantly stokes more anger. I don't think he can really win here.

The other part has the popcorn ready.

WHY HASN'T THIS GUY LEARNED ANYTHING!?

Absolutely nothing good can come of this. What is left for him to say after back to back epic fails over the past few weeks? You have a show coming up in June! Let your games do the talking then and there, but until then he needs to simply shut up and take the well deserved piles of feces being hurled at him and the rest of Xbox management from ALL corners of the gaming community - with the biggest dung piles being thrown by Xbox loyalist.

Poor Phil, having to do his job, why people don't leave him alone... 🤣 Phil won't last a minute on an open mic Q&A Session.
Oh absolutely! That just shows how rotten is the gaming press industry.

Imagine Phil Spencer in a video AMA with NeoGaf members. People will eat and barf his bones in 30 minutes with real questions that the Xbox community wants the answer for.

Covid and silicon shortages causing arkane to not have dev kits
crypto or ransomware on the dev kits slowed their work

This should be a blood bath...cook him!

This is what we expect, but it's not what we get haha. This will be some soft nonsense Phil Spencer trying to be the guy that knows his audience so well and my even go damage control thing or say "yeah we did some weird shit bla bla bla".

I believe there will again be a lot of people who will say that "at least he is honest", And will afterwards believe in him again.

Gary Whitta has the power to go all in....just depends if they rein him in.

It really should. And not about console wars or whatever, but simply about accountability and consistency.

First off, Cyberpunk was developed for 8 platforms. Redfall for 3. And redfall has the benefit of being a first-party game, which means they could very well have an unlimited budget. Redfall is also a far less ambitious game compared to Cyberpunk. And lastly, Redfall comes in a word after the fiasco that was cyberpunk happened. Cyberpunk got battered and was even pulled from stores, refunds were made. That shit was shown no mercy.

This kinda shit just should not be happening. And from first party less.

I would be shocked if he leaves without shadow dropping a (good) game. No other alternative scenario makes sense.

Spencer is just another suit with good PR and image cleaning. And Greg can vanish for all that I care.

MICROSOFT NEEDS GAMES! GIVE ME GOOD GAMES! Wasn't that the idea behind acquiring a bunch of studios? You buy them, you nurture them with good management and loads of money, and ask for good products. It can't be this difficult. The only studio that didn't disappoint me is Turn10 but I'm still waiting for a new mainline Forza, however, Racing games aren't huge system sellers like a new Halo (and don't let me start with 343i incompetency).
