People need to wake the fuck up and stop giving professional game reviewers a single, solitary fuck.
The 0-10/100 scale is massively flawed in that sites are not consistent with their use of it. Be that because the reviewers are different from game to game, because there's some kind of meta context around different games (sites are much more comfortable to throw sub 50 reviews to Focus Home or Embracer output in comparison to Ubisoft for example - or even that some games from big publishers don't "matter as much as others), and/or because humans are generally not consistent when it comes to this kind of thing. Vibes play a role, even with reviewers I respect. All of this throws a wrench in the quantitative aspect. Which is how you get this game sharing a score bracket with Forspoken.

That's never really going to go away, so I'm not too offended by it. What I am offended by is the lead up to this game. How many previews glossed over these fundamental issues? They all lapped up and propagated the demonstrable lies about the gunplay being sharp bro, and this being some immersive sim spin on Far Cry when it's clear third rate Back4Borderlands. Nobody challenged the bullshit narrative that somehow, fundamentally single player design tenets could be maintained and catered to whilst also satisfying multiplayer hard and soft design requirements.

There's a lot to say about this, especially with the narrative switch up about Microsoft not being involved with this game (lmao), but there's definitely a massive malpractice point to make about the games media. I've never seen such an obviously bad game get this extent of cushioning before shitting the bed even worse than expected.

Seems from the bottom right image Arkane re-invented the wheel to be more like a nut, and it didn’t seem to work out very well.

Also, from the middle right image. Guy was just having a hangover party and someone smeared some ketchup on his neck, gross. Better take a shower soon!

Also, the top right image reminds me of some video on YouTube about a guy arguing to the clerk: “it’s mam, you bigot!!!, I’m a lady”

They prob give it a 10 just to be different
They will probably give the review to that chick who shoves things into her ass for a living and she's gonna give it a perfect score because vampires, and vampires are kinky or whatever.

I just checked, and both are still there for me. Maybe it depends on your region.
I am in Germany, and here the games are still listed, but when you click on the game there is no "add to library" button. They other games worked, so there was something different with these 2 games

Edge is gonna score this thing a 1/10, mark my words.

The only thing that could save the final score was if the developers were British, but the game was made in Austin, Texas. The score is going to be brutal.

I'll admit it, I've got more entertainment from all these reviews than I would have had playing the game had it actually been half decent. Thank you Microsoft and Arkane.

I call this the 'WWE Effect' - where you derive far more entertainment from the behind the scenes shenanigans and disasters than you ever do from the actual product.

I'm listening to IGN's Unlocked podcast and so far, Destin is being incredibly savage towards the game, I feel he genuinely expected something good or decent out of the game.

Lol, I came into this thread specifically to mention this. Between the ABK blockage and Redfall, the man is simply over MSFT's nonsense. Poor guy.

There’s a somewhat interesting conversation beginning at about the 14min mark regarding the preview build they tried out a few weeks ago. Seems like it was quite a curated experience with some differences from the final product.

Was playing Hunt: Showdown with one of my regular teams last night and even in my party chat while playing everyone started shitting on Redfall. We probably lost a gun fight thanks to Redfall.

Now I'm really mad.

Remember pre-launch when it was reported that Redfall would be the “most supported” of Arkane’s games?
Kinda makes you think they knew it was in a dire state and would need multiple patches but pushed it out the door anyway…

GAF. I present to you Damage control that is so convoluted, it needs to be encapsulated for posterity...

"Redfall doesn't even vaguely approach the quality bar expected of Arkane, and indeed, Xbox itself. However, I have been told by multiple sources that Xbox was entirely hands-off with the project, and that the game doesn't fall under Xbox Game Studios' director Matt Booty's responsibilities — because rightly or wrongly, right now, Arkane is not an Xbox Game Studio by internal definition." - Jez

Can you imagine PlayStation claiming that they don't really own insom?

After putting about 3 hours in on series x... and I like it.

I don't get the hate. You'd swear this was the worst game ever made by some.

Then again I didn't pay 70 for it and got it through a subscription I already pay for.

I'd rather pay $70 for greatness than $15 for barely passable tripe...but hey that's just me.

Sorry if this was posted upthread, but this might be the most brutal review I’ve ever seen. He recommends that you not even download it on Gamepass to try it. And he hosts an Xbox podcast.

Where's the IGN review? They're normally quick to put out their reviews, but this time they are conveniently late to the party. By accident or by design? I wonder.
IGN USA probably figuring out a way to make the game sound decent to keep ad revenue coming in so they dont get blacklisted.

IGN Spain gave the game an 8/10 according to MC.

There's so many threads about Redfall, I havent read them all and dont know if there's been any pinpoint reasons why the game is so bad. Budget? Time? Covid messed up dev? Talent? Arkane cant make an open world game? People quitting? Bosses dont know what they are doing to keep things in check? Who knows.

At some point we will probably find out the root cause(s). Probably a little bit of everything.

This game seems so bad, I'm downloading it now. I'll give it a whirl after work. Cant wait to see how bad it is.

I already know right off the bat that 30 fps will a negative point.

Don't know why but i feel sorry for Arkane, i love their games and it's a shame Redfall didn't turn out good, I hope they will bounce back and do something like Prey/Dishonored.

I should’ve foreseen a couple of sites giving ludicrously high scores that skewed the result. Based on everything it should sit in the 50-60 range like I voted. Not quite sure how you give an 8.5 or a 9 to this blatantly unfinished game.

It could get into the 50´s yet. IGN gave it a 4 and Metacritic haven't updated the critic review yet. IGN spain gave it an 8 and IGN a 4.
