It's not a Sony or Nintendo game so no shilling. 70-80 is my guess.

Question. I'm getting this to exclusively play the campaign co op with my girlfriend. Should I even bother with the deluxe edition then? The battle pass is just seasonal content, right?

If you want to play early then yes. BP is cosmetics. You dont get the first big BP until season 1 starts around late july but there will be a smaller BP pre season with some comsetics

Right. I got it after debating against it. Early access, 20 tier skips, cosmetic/pet stuff for WoW and D3. You get to play it early.

There is a review that went up early that has been taken down that gave it a 4

not sure whether that was 4/5 or 4/10 though

From what i'm gathering from the small bits of info that have come out, there is something quite significant with the endgame people really aren't liking

I thought the beta was great and it came free with my GPU so I'll be playing regardless of reviews but if there is any pay to win stuff I hope reviews at least mention it.

From the betas, I would say it is a very solid 4/10. It looks nice, it controls well - but it just lacks any fun or challenge. Feels like they are going hard on the FOMO/Seasonal aspects as well, which I never cared for in D3. There is a reason why D2 is still the most beloved game in the franchise and I don't think Modern Blizzard learned from it.

You know what a 4/10 looks like? Gollum or redfall. D4 plays better than any of the games in this franchise while also looks the best ofc. Time to remove those nostalgia glasses

Could be the fact that everything is dead all the time due to competing with every other person on the map for the good mobs

Solid and 4 shouldn't be next to each other

Looks better? Yes, of course it does. They would need to try to make it look worse given Diablo III released 11 years ago. Play's better? Given the Beta - I will say that is a hard no. I can go back and replay D1 and D2 any day of the week, regardless of the version, and still have a blast. The Beta's of D4 all felt poor to play. Things died far too quickly, there was *zero* challenge regardless of the character chosen, aside from the one world boss which felt less like an actual challenge and more like a "You need better gear which you can't get yet" challenge.

You are the one who needs to remove the beer goggles and take a good, hard look at D4. It is all style, zero substance - at least from the beta.

Solid and 4 shouldn't be next to each other

5 is Average to me. 4 is below average. This is a solidly below average game from what I have been able to play thus far. Maybe the final product is far better, but somehow I doubt that will be the case. Gollum is a 2, Redfall is a 3 for me. Meanwhile games like Pentiment, ToTK, and Astrobot have all been solid 10/10s for me personally.

World tier 1 and 2 are slightly below and above the old Diablo game`s "normal"-modes...

And I seriously have never heard a more stupid strawman argument than to cry for a challenge on "normal" in a diablo game which has always been the brain-afk tutorial and nothing more.

You can still die on "normal" in D1 and D2 quite easily. I would have to go out of my way to even drop below 75% HP on the Beta. Some people want a challenge from the start and not a mindless, boring game until you reached 20-30 hours in and can finally unlock higher difficulties.

The fact that you are so easily triggered by this mild opinion says a lot more about you than me, mate.

I think it'll get a metacritic of ~90.

It'll be inflated, gonna be a fun game to play but a couple months from now when people get into the endgame cycle surely to be impacted by battle pass/generally disgusting monetization shit that the industry has come to, people will hate on it.

This.

The demo gave us a taster of how it will play, and not much else. Anyone who knows the series well will know that the challenge is later and the story is basically a warm up.

I think the guy you quoted needs to stick with D2R

ARPGs generally don’t review that well because some people like this type of game and some don’t and even among the people that like it there are vast differences in opinion on what makes an enjoyable arpg. For that reason I will go with low to mid 80s metacritic.

Your opinion is your opinion and if it's not fun for you, that's fine. But how can you say it doesn't lack challenge? You basically played the equivalent of Diablo 2 Act 1 normal. And yeah, D2 Act1 normal ain't a challenge either.

Build variety is very good here. Also is a lot more methodical and strategic now.

I was reading somewhere that if you review the game your character/stats will be wiped out/cleaned once the game releases. What a strange choice. You invest so much time only to be deleted.

The game was reviewed on what they call "early review access" servers. They were similar to the Weekend Server Slam but just with the entire story and the rest of the game unlocked.

The access provided was not a retail key to the actual game like it normally yes. They are sending retail keys out to media before release though today and tomorrow.
