Do you not understand the concept of a distribution curve? Obviously there will always be some women who are interested in things that mostly guys are into, and vice versa. But the fact that there are female sports fanatics and male fans of romance novels doesn't mean they aren't products that predominantly appeal to a certain sex.
Superhero comic books is one such market.
And why have women superheroes? I'm just going say it, because they are there to be eye candy and sex appeal for the predominantly male audience, and yes, there has always been attempts by the comic book industry to expand the readership to girls by making female versions of their characters, and they are all unpopular, supergirl, spiderwoman, batwoman, unless they are converted to sex appeal characters like Power Girl, then suddenly they gain popularity.
And before you say Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman is a character who's popularity is primarily due to her sex appeal. She was invented by guy who had his own harem by living and fathering children with 3 women at the same time and was into domination and bondage. How Wonder Woman was inspired by sex life of bondage-obsessed creator William Moulton Marston & poly ‘love cult’
I would also argue that there was a trend for a while for normie girls to wear big glasses and pretend to be into nerd stuff. A trend that has been dying down for some time now.

I never said it was to get nerd guys. Nerd stuff went mainstream over the last 10-15 years. It was trendy. People hopped on that trend because it was what was cool at the time. Now that it's not trendy, fair-weather fans dropped off.

Me as well. Those cartoons are the best I ever watched. Everytime I talk about Spider-Man 2 writing someone bring the 'comics' to the conversation. I don't understand why I need to read modern comics to understand what is good or bad.

And I think for a lot people - worldwide - the marvel universe is basically those 90s cartoons. X-Men were amazing. Intro is still iconic.

I see that it managed to barely hold onto a "Fresh" rating on RT, which I feel it deserves - it's nothing remarkable, but it doesn't suck.

I think female superheroes can work if it’s actually done well. The first Wonder Woman made lots of money and more women than men watched it. Lots of girls also did grow up with things like She-Ra, Power Puff Girls, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Ahsoka from Star Wars is another more recent example. Disney just really sucks at their latest MCU stuff.

I watched it, against my better judgment. It's mostly cringey crap designed for Gen-Z girls (like the singing planet where Brie Larson is married to some kpop dude) but I didn't outright hate it until the last 30 minutes, which was just garbage.
I have a question, though: does Kamala not have the power to embiggen in the MCU? I saw she made some light/crystal fists like twice... but that can't be it, can it?
Kinda wild that Square Enix's Avengers did a better job with Kamala's character than her feature film debut.

Took my daughter to see it. She loved it, she is a big Ms. Marvel fan from the comics.
I found it to be pretty mid in general. It really expects the audience to be super invested in Marvel media and could be a tough watch if you haven't seen the 3 movies and two TV shows it references heavily throughout.

Men and women like different things and it’s simply because of how we are built. Men are more commonly into superheroes because men are strong. Women are more commonly into true crime because they want to understand how to avoid/get out of such situations.

I wouldn't characterize like that. We're physically different, yes. We have some different interests, yes.
But women like true crime for the same reasons we do... It's fascinating. Not because "oooohh. I'm going to watch this so I know what to do or not to do to save myself"... I know this because I have a lot of women friends and some of them just like how fascinating it is.
Men like superhero stories because it's COOL AS FUCK! Women do too! People doing amazing things for the betterment of others is COOL... That's universal (unless you're fucking psychopath).
OTHERWISE, all chefs would be women (most are overwhelmingly men) and all romance novelists would be women (over half are men).

So, I know someone who worked on this. Said it was going to be a disaster long before the reviews dropped, they and several colleagues got offered cast + crew tickets to one of the first screenings and hardly anyone from that group went.
