Through modding or piracy?
The Witcher 1-2-3 Ehnanced, Crysis 2: DX11, Layers of Fear 2023, Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, Metro Exodus: Enhaced Edition, Q.U.B.E. 10th Anniversary, Quake 2 Remaster, Skyrim Special Edition, Minecraft RTX and many others are notoriously opera of pirates and modders.

How many of those are free upgrades?

Cash grab...

There's no other point for this release. Is this what ND have been working on since 2020? 4 years and no new IPs from them.

EDIT: Oh, if you already have the game you can get it for a $10 upgrade? Ok, that changes everything then. I'm in! haha. Point still stands though, ND what new stuff are you woking on?
You are spot on about the lack of new I.P, or just anything new full stop.

All we've had is a remaster and now another remaster, neither of which were being asked for and neither of which really needed remastering in the first place.

"Remaster"

It's just a bump in resolution for 30fps mode. Standards of what qualifies as "Remaster" has really lowered.

To clarify, I didn't expect any big improvement as the original game running on PS5 still looks amazing, especially with 60fps.

Hopefully you get double trophies. pay $10, load your PS4 save in the remaster, get all the trophies again, delete.

Well we already know that's not exactly the case. The increase in LOD and shadows/occlusion is already noticeable from this GIF.
Resolution, AF and textures bump can be appreacited a bit here:

That's what they official announced as improvements so far:

"Increased texture resolution, increased Level-of-Detail distances, improved shadow quality, animation sampling rate, and more."

Personally I'm fine with that. When you mess with elaborated visuals (lSpider-Man Remastered for instance) ruining things here in there is invevitable, and there's nothing I hate more.

Unfortunately, looks exactly the same to me, even in that comparison. Sad to call this a remaster. They just upped the resolution and that's it. Even at $10 I won't get it. It's the same thing.

It's obvious that Last of Us 2 underperformed commercially and that GAAS game that's been in development hell is not helping either. That's why they've been churning out remakes and remasters nobody asked for.
It's safe to say that TLOU2 was able to make even but wasn't able to make enough profit for them. 200 million dollars not even including marketing oof.
Druckmann the hackman made a huge doodoo, he was so cocky during the marketing of the game and it bits him in the ass.

Only an idiot would buy this, it's even more pointless than the first last of us remaster. You can literally play the ps4 version on the ps5.

It didn't. They said it was profitable day one and it was extremely successful.

Just about every single one of their games has been remastered and TLOU1 Remake was in development before TLOU2 was released.

Uncharted 1-3 remastered
TLOU Remastered and Remade
Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy remastered.

All PS4 naughty Dog games have failed based on this logic. lol

a $10 upgrade if you own the PS4 game physically.

So if I own the game digitally, I can't upgrade? Wut? I did notice it didn't mention the digital version in the press release but I didn't think it needed mentioned, I thought it was a given that the digital version would be eligible for the $10 upgrade....

I bought it for like £7 digital and it will be possible to upgrade it.

would be nicer if those A/Bs were from places where the original game goes to shit in terms of LOD and pop-in which just happens to be non-random and 100% reproducible.

So 4k/60 Performance, then when you use the pointless addition of RTX in fidelity mode 4K/30, fuck me you get it now? Performance hit for a SMALL visual ‘improvement’…Not a hard concept to grasp…
Just stop it. Again it's a last generation game and it's not even open world. It could have a rt performance and fidelity easily with different resolutions.

Res bump is super noticeable even in a YouTube vid, LOD upgrade. Nothing mind blowing but it should be even more noticeable on a full size 4K TV without YouTube compression

Uncharted and The Last of Us are the okay games I've ever seen where higher framerate than 30 is objectively worse for the presentation, it just looks wrong imo. Like Benny Hill lol, it seems like it was made to be seen at 30fps.

The big question is... Naughty Dog gonna fixed the Ellie face in the Prologue of TLOUp2 with the ending of TLOUp1?

Cleary, with what we see (trailer), I don't think so (wich is pretty sad... because... it's there...)

I've been living under a rock like Patrick Star these past couple of days, but clearly this thread blew up and I see the like/dislike ratio of the announcement is 57k/90k.

Clearly I missed some shit.

Its always amazing how insecure game studios are. They must have legions of employees whose only job is to scour the internet for bad news, so they can respond on twitter with a tear dripping down their face. Every game will have their share of internet fans liking or hating the game or business strategy. No need for tweets.

It's got to a point ND even calls out gamers to put up or shut up about spending your own money.

I think whats happened is LOU2 didn't sell as well as expected. If it did, Sony would be bragging like how LOU1 sold a ton. Now, to keep sales going LOU2 remastered is coming soon and possibly their last chance to milk it for sales, so they are nervous.

We get the chance to vote with our wallets every time and with the options we have for The Last of Us Part II Remastered, these options are perfect for everyone. If you don't want to spend, the native PS4 version still looks incredible and will play beautifully on a PS5 in 60FPS, but if you do fancy paying for a version that gives us more and will look even better, then for the price of a coffee and a doughnut, you can do so.

Horizon Zero Dawn sold 20 million copies, they were probably expecting to perform better than that game in a much short period of time, also TLOU2 got discounted after a few month of released. There is really no point having a remake of a 3 year old game other than to take back the losses. TLOU1 on PC was a flop too due to bugs and performance issues.
