Subjective but Two was better than the first, IMO.

The third was a victim of Bethesda shoehorning forced co-op experiences in games at that time, something other games like Far Cry: New Dawn also suffered, it was also a spin-off project, not a proper sequel.

People keep saying that the second was bad, honestly only the third was average at best,

The first two plus the prequel have one the best gun and run of the last few years,

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Would love to see S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 showing up as well, but hell yeah Indiana Jones incoming is pretty exciting already!

STALKER 2 is tentatively scheduled for Q1, but they haven't put a date and that seems a bit unrealistic to me personally. But it wouldn't have shown up here, last years developer_direct was all first party stuff.

The New Colossus while not Spiderman 2 bad, it was also pretty damn woke. The white people were Nazis and the black people were the saviors. The New Order didn't have any modern political propaganda that I can recall though and I hope there is any in Indiana Jones.

I love all the 'i'll flip my lid if this is first person' posts when everyone knows its being made by Machine Games, fps specialists.
Having said that, i feel this will probably be an Uncharted style game, and will def be third person, or atleast playable in first or third person (remember when games used to do that?).

Blade is being made by Arkane who specialize in first person view games and it is going to be third person.

I hope MachineGames nails Indiana Jones. Xbox could use an "Uncharted" like action/adventure game.

This is footage from the cancelled Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings that was aimed at PS3/Xbox 360:

That looked pretty impressive for the time.

Makes me excited for what a possible Indiana Jones action game could play/look like.

I hope they use Tomb Raider for inspiration rather than Uncharted. I just finished playing the reboot trilogy and those games are so much better. Much better stories, gameplay and a lot more content in Tomb Raider. Uncharted just has shooting and sparkly things that have no purpose other than you to collect them and a lot of slow walk and talk.

Looking forward to this show. All three games are highly anticipated for me and I hope there will be substantial deep dives. Especially on Avowed. Although a bit rough, I enjoyed the first game trailer and I do hope Obsidian has improved on it further. I want a new well made Fantasy RPG similar to Skyrim, especially since Bethesda left that space a decade ago.

Hellblade 2 was super impressive at TGA reveal but it would be nice with more gameplay, or even a big slice of uncut footage of someone playing. No fancy trailers hyping it up, just pure old fashioned gameplay to see if it can stand on its own legs.

Indy could be anything really. Not a big fan of the movies (I only like the first two, or maybe just Temple of Doom) but since I'm a big fan of Tomb Raider and Uncharted, I hope Machine games are leaning into those franchises and make it a third person action adventure. If it has a Temple of Doom style plot, I'm in day 1.

I don't know what Ara is and not familiar with the devs so I don't know if I'll like it. Indy, Avowed and Hellblade I'm really looking forward so please no Redfalls in those 3 games. It would be awesome if S.T.A.L.K.E.R. actually releases in 2024 too.

Ara is PC only right now, I believe, so that wouldn’t be my ideal choice for a showcase. Unless they’ll announce a console port.

I feel the same way finally seems like the games are finally coming.

Does anyone out there younger then like 35-40 care for an Indy game? I mean the last good movie was “The Last Crusade” which will be 35 years since release sometime this year.

Also, considering current trends and the last couple of movies it could be just terrible, heavily laden with “messaging” Sweet Baby Inc style (are they involved?).
This ain't the movie, yo! It's the game. Two different media types.

Shocker!

The issue is that movies and games based on certain license hope to take advantage of built in audience. See Spider-Man as an example or Batman games.

Now, the game still has to be good but if the additional audience isn’t there it’s silly to pay licensing costs.

Hence my question on who exactly is this Xbox/PC exclusive targeting. Because most of built in audience is going to be in 40s and up.

Lots of people in their 40's game, plus a good product will not only attract new people to the game, it will also encourage them to look up the original movies and get appreciation for them.

That's like saying who else besides DnD nerds would find appreciation for something like Baldurs Gate 3. Look how that turned out.

Bro. The IP still has enough value to warrant a different target audience/demographic with different media. Some didn't like the film. Maybe they'd play the game. It's a different scenario almost entirely. Only similarities is the character. A lot can change with the game.

I feel like it needs to be uncharted/tomb raider.

It needs to be anything but Uncharted / Tomb Raider.

I was taken aback when they announced that it was MachineGames doing this and rumors started that this might be first-person (this has not been confirmed, correct?), but the more I think of it, the more I am intrigued to see what the developer is doing with it and how it's different from the games in its wheelhouse. An Indy that just follows the template of franchises which ripped off Indy would be a little disappointing IMO.

After 2 mediocre films... please five Indie the love he deserves.

Even if it borrows uncharted lives etc I really don't care, just give us something new, fresh and exciting to be hyped for.

That's exactly why I think that, whatever they do, it will be disappointing.

Uncharted perfected the formula of an "Indiana Jones" type game. If they follow Uncharted, they will be replicating the "perfect formula", but it will be just a copy of Uncharted. And Machine Games cannot match Naughty Dog. So it'll be a "cheaper" copy (for the lack of a better word).

If they do it differently from Uncharted, it will be different from the formula that Uncharted perfected over 4 games and a decade. That'll be a loss in itself.
