XBOX 2024 Direct Officially Announced: January 18th (Featuring: Indiana Jones, Avowed, Hellblade)

Indiana jones is going to be a 2D arcade game. lol. But I’d love it if they would do this too. Think it’s a great fit for that universe. I expect something similar to uncharted/tomb raider. I don’t have too much of a problem with that but just don’t do a carbon copy of those games. Maybe make it more about exploration than kill a hundred enemies, solve a puzzle, kill more enemies in a scripted action scene and rinse and repeat.

Hopefully there'll be some significant news on the future of Xbox as a whole...it's been rough these last few years man!

Mostly just Bethesda's in-house games, Wolfenstein, Quake, Doom etc. It hasn't exactly been used externally like Unreal.
I guess we will see in about a few hours. I just expect animation to be stellar and acting by Harrison Ford would be the icing on the cake.

It's been an honor, Xbros.

I hope not to be honest. He can barely even speak anymore, and we would be lucky if we even got a sleepwalking performance from him, knowing what he's like.

I'd honestly prefer 1st person over an Uncharted clone. It would at least be something different

There’s no real reason for people to imagine every third person action adventure game starring an adventurer is an ‘uncharted clone’.

As a lover of Xbox I'm surprised to see so many people hyped up for this.

We've seen Hellblade many times so, nothing new there.

Unless you’re coming from an alternate dimension, no, we haven’t seen Hellblade gameplay many times. And there are many unanswered questions for people looking for indications on the game’s scope, combat improvements and generally the new changes an AAA budget has brought to the title.

Avowed looked like a bargain bin game last time we saw it. And that was one of my most anticipated games when announced, so that last showing really hurt. Not sure why anyone would expect it to look much better, it isn't like they would have scrapped it and started over.

You don’t understand how a game mid development can look better when development is complete?
People like RPGs. Obsidian have a good to great track record, so there’s a number of people looking to see an improved outing for the game

For those crazy hyped, genuinely wondering why.

4 AAA games being shown from 4 talented studios. All coming to GP in 2024. Good to get a new look at games you could be playing.

Might as well ask why anyone is hyped about gaming.

In this case, it would be awesome to have AI voice over based on his past performances, obviously he would get paid for using his voice, the hard part is how you direct an AI from the Director perspective, I mean the guy that directs voice overs acting.

I'd rather they just hired an actor that can do a good impression of Ford.

Ford is too old now and his voice in the pre-aged ssections of Dial of Destiny sounded weid with this young looking Indy with this old man voice. Plus his performance in a videogame would probably make Bill Murray's performance in the Ghostbusters game look Oscar worthy!. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I just want a good game at the end of the day.

The meltdows will be funny if Indy is first person. Personally i think it will be third person, or have both first and third person options, as i feel its going to be an Uncharted style game.

Still Machine Games are first person specialists, so for me it wouldnt be a massive shock if its first person only.

I completely understand about games in mid development stage. My point was not about the graphics, it was the gameplay that disappointed me and that typically doesn't drastically change from mid development onward.

Obviously they will change things, but I wouldn't expect the gameplay to look much different.

And we've had what, 5-6 official trailers for Hellblade? At least. What more do we really need to see? The game either appeals to you, or it doesn't. Everyone has seen enough to make that decision.

Not interested in Hellblade 2 but looking forward to getting more info on the rest.

Fingers crossed for a Gears collection on PC. Or remakes if console lol

Vast majority of the complaints about Avowed were about the visuals.
Gameplay seems to be first person spell work and sword combat. Not sure what’s bad about that, or why you think improvements in everything from animation to hit reactions aren’t possible mid development.

We’ve literally had one Hellblade trailer with traditional gameplay. One.

If we went by whether a game appeals to people just by an announcement of existence, then why even have trailers or showcases?

A new Uncharted game would appeal to me. Same with a new God of War game. Or a new Halo game. Doesn’t mean I want to buy these games with no glimpse of the game prior to launch.

There will be meltdowns for a developer who only made first person games?

I am not sure what people expect.

They even use firearms in the Pillars Of Eternity/Avowed Universe.

I mean if we want to get technical, Call of Duty has been running off a modified version of the Quake 3 engine since forever. But that's now in house as well so............

Indy could work in first person if you look at something like Mirror's Edge. It would need robust animation and mechanics systems though. It would need to feel smooth and intuitive like that game.

Hellblade aka mental illness the game, I hope not too much time is wasted on this game in this show. Last year half the show was about starfield. Let’s not do that again.

It better be or GAF will crucify it for not being Uncharted.
They will crucify it regardless. Personally, I'd rather see them take inspiration from something like Riddick than something like Uncharted. Todd Howard previously seemed to even have difficulty stating the genre when asked. He was probably just being cagey, but I expect at least some elements to be new and unusual or I would be a little let down.
