So the brand is not dying.....quite the opposite. XBOX is close to being the number 1 brand in revenue and with numerous highly successful IPs that can create a significant impact among users.

That is an incentive and a potential for a new product to be successful if it hits the right button. And that's what MS seems to be thinking when it's only willing to commit itself to COD and "only" for 10 years.

A new XBoxNext (with key hardware) debuting with XGS+ABK+Bethesda mayor exclusives vs PS6 would be a product with potential regardless of what XSeries was and how it ends.
As I say, at least a few months ago in the thread of the ABK acquisition it was what an immense majority here defended in line with the FTC to defend the prohibition of said acquisition 🤗

You just have to see how today it is impossible to predict what the next hit is and what decides success or failure (Palworld)
I swear this sounds SenjetsuSage's alt account trying hard not to post a wall of text to not expose himself. The stupid ass logic was the dead giveaway.

Ladies and gentlemen, and this is the response of someone who 2 months ago was still defending that the FTC and the CMA should prohibit the acquisition of ABK because MS's only purpose was to destroy Sony and create a monopoly on consoles ... Which did not even someone had to believe them when they declared under oath that COD would be multi .....

Some of you should be under the rocks after such a ridiculous 180° and yet here you are trying to believe that no one remembers...🤣

The deal only went through under the condition that COD would remain multiplatform for at least 10 years.

Ofcourse MS was going to declare that under oath.

Ms must have shelved everything on the leak just to make it look fake. No streaming enhanced controller, no updated xbox.........

Or wait, the whole leak was fake!!! Lol

You sound like the common and often seen here grumpy and disrespectful hater who has decided and that the only logical possibility for MS is to abandon the console business and gets angry when someone proposes another possibility, whether you like it or not, equally or even more logical.

You haven't understood.... I'm showing how ridiculous some people are. People whose arguments are only based on what is best for their narrative and have the audacity to believe themselves in the position of pointing fingers at others. A person who 2 months ago said that the acquisition of ABK had the sole purpose of ending PlayStation and creating a monopoly on consoles and in the industry. That said that "case by case" is a lie. That said that MS has so much money that it could afford to make everything exclusive in exchange for gaining market share....
Now this person (many here actually) say exactly the opposite of each of those points and you are supposed to take them seriously when they have clearly only demonstrated that they are only arguing based on what best fits their narrative.

If you don't see it... then OK.

Dont know why but I feel this post is missing how gamepass is the best deal in gaming and will only get better with ABK. So 8/10 for you my friend. Always remember to push GP. Always.

Or reality shows the brand is dying and they scrapped most of their plans.

You guys are so dramatic, even if ms leaves traditional consoles sales behind, you can bet they will back every pc play possible, including dedktops and handhelds, maybe an oem model and or other large partnerships. Samsung console, Apple console, Google console, who knows.
Plus it's still very unlikely they leave the console market even with weaker sales as its still an additional revenue stream.
Maybe they just simply - one hybrid portable/home console along the lines of switch.

Not likely the xbox brand is going anywhere, even if it shifts its focus.

The only reason they managed to go on so long is because it's MS we're talking about.
Sales are dropping fast and hard. It's right there for you to see.

People are discussing the need for Xbox to go 3rd party, so most of what you said is just stating the obvious.

And about the brand dying, listen to what Phil Spencer had to say:

There's only one out of the three platform-holders that really needs to discuss their relevancy.

Yes, but Nintendo combined their handheld demographic with their console demographic.
Hence the success of Switch, since Nintendo dominates the handheld space.

MS has nothing.

Sure, nothing, just a rather large group of gamers who still like them, large brand recognition, tons of popular ip's, 40 gaming studios with a ton of talent, and virtually unlimited funds.
But yes, all hope is lost. Lol.

Sales dropping fast and steady, even in their strongest markets.
Brand becoming irrelevant.
IPs dropping in quality, mostly duds.
Tons of talent not being put to use properly.

So you're only left with virtually unlimited funds, which clearly aren't helping all that much.

Do you honestly believe, the richest company in the world that just bought ABK for 70 billion is going to drop their entire Xbox division for a couple of years of bad sales on hardware?

The number of people who seriously want zero competition and only one high end console and a $150 price for base games is frightening.

Microsoft is going to be publishing the #1 selling game on PlayStation this fall.

Call of Duty is annually the #1 selling game on PS both physically and digitally.

The year MWII released they were the #1 and #2 selling game on PSN with MWII at #1 and Vanguard at #2.

That's not to mention the income they'll get from Blizzard and King. King makes even more money than CoD does.

So it's not the #LandOfMakeBelieve

It is. Just publishing the #1 selling game on PlayStation does not put Xbox #1 on the revenue list.

Nobody denies the financial success of COD or that Xbox revenue will not increase with this move. But Xbox is still projected to be at #3 in terms of revenue, behind Tencent and Sony.

To say that they are projected to be #1 in revenue is factually incorrect - because they are not.

If MS steps out, it's automatically going to be Nintendo vs Playstation, with PC for high-end gaming.
And since Xbox games will still be released on PC, nothing will be lost, really.

There is no competition between Playstation and Xbox anymore anyway.

I think your confusing underperforming with complete loss of value.

Ms still owns:
Halo
Forza
Fable
Flight simulator
Gears of War
Doom
Elder scrolls
Fallout
Wolfenstein
Diablo
Call of Duty
Minecraft
Diablo
Overwatch
Warcraft
Age of empires
Perfect Dark

And many more. Just because you say they have no value doesn't make it so.
And mostly duds? There's still been more good games this gen than "duds".

Like I said befioe, sales dropping doesn't mean it has to stay that way forever.

If they haven't lost value, then xbox hasn't lost relevance. That's a huge list of well known ip's.

We aren't far off the notion of a portable hybrid that runs series S games, if the price is right, it could spark sales. It would have an immediate catalog plus future xbox exclusive titles. Series S could be retired, and ms could launch a truely high end xbox to replace X.

Xbox as a platform-holder has lost relevance.
And "value" is a relative term. Most people don't think those games you mentioned offer enough value to warrant buying an Xbox.
To MS, they have high value, because that's what they need to get customers.

The market has spoken though, showing that Xbox in general doesn't offer nearly enough value to warrant the purchase of a $150 Series S over a €550 PS5 in Xbox' strongest market, getting outsold 2:1 in december (PS5 vs Series).
It's basically dead outside of US and UK markets.
But this is just beating a dead horse already.

How some Xbox fans can't comprehend such a simple fact is mindboggling.

As for that last part, it's whatever. People will move on, especially now that mainstream gaming media started reported about MS (seemingly) moving towards 3rd party publishing.

I think your confusing the decision to buy a ps5 before an xbox as a clear sign a person has no interest in xbox games. They have a greater interest in sony games, not zero interest in xbox games. Most people only buy one box, so that's it this gen.

I think the fact that your completely ignoring the millions of xbox units that have already been sold and still being sold as irrelevant is mind-boggling.

Don't confuse ms's move to publish some older games multiplatform as a full move to 3rd party.

There's always people like you. Just like there are still Sega-fans today.

There is also a hard drop-off in Xbox hardware sales in markets outside of UK and US, as well as a steady decline in the UK and US.

No, you just said they were no longer relevant, which basically means no interest, but ok.

So now your comparing optimism for a profitable company thats still engaged in sales with tons of viable studios to a fans for a company that stopped making hardware 30 years ago?

Your not confused, your dillusional.

WoW, the literality....!!!😂 Anyway, thank you for recognizing the possibility and that it was not such an absurd thing to say....
Now we just have to know if when the time comes we will see you change the narrative as on every occasion and pretend that nothing happened...

In my case I will simply admit that I was wrong but I will not ridiculously change to a new 180° narrative and also believe in being willing to give lessons to others🙃

Feel free to share numbers based on next year's projections. And I can prove it to you that you're wrong.

Please stay away from making predictions I don't think you're in a position to venture into the future. Even less so with your history of flagrant failures.

Because the fact is that you are completely unaware (like everyone) of the future, the success or failure of future ABI releases, the roadmap..... Imagine for example predicting the revenue of COD Golf War in 2024-25 (where there may even be a Switch version and largest established user base) based on the revenue that COD WII (pseudo DLC) may have had in 2023-24. ..

Well, nothing far from what is usual for you I think🤗

Read what I said. I said people clearly don't think the list you posted offer enough value to warrant buying an Xbox.
That something different from having zero interest in Xbox games.

It's like me having interest in Hellblade 2, because I loved Hellblade, but that's not enough to buy an Xbox.
HiFi Rush might be cool, as well, just like that new SE game they just announced, but including them, the Xbox library still doesn't offer enough value for me to buy an Xbox.

Does that really need an explanation?

Exactly, not enough now. Doesn't mean that can't or won't change. You act like history tells us that a failed generation means the company must fail when history tells us the opposite. Let's also keep in mind that a "failed" console like xbox one sold 50 million units, we aren't talking about 5 million units here. There's still money to be made with part of the pie since pie is much larger.

Even if ms quits being a platform holder, all indications are:

- they will still massively support pc, which effectively still gives them a "platform"

- they will likely still have cloud as a second platform to grow

- they will likely still have tons of studios that make money overall as a group

- there is literally nothing stopping them from re-entering the market at a later date

Competition from a brand that their answer for 20 years of incompetence is "lets buy everything and choke Competition" and "lets create a heavy subsidized subscription model that no company can mantain other then us and at the same time lets put quantity over quality while doing it" ??? No thanks... you fanboys can have this shit im good.

4 gens and all they have is 1 game that interests me.
Quality of Xbox games declined, even for their best IPs.
People seem to be moving away from them, so likely more people think like me.

Xbox One went down from X360, Series is going down further from Xbox One. (Practically coming to a halt outside of US/UK).

If you want to talk numbers, Xbox One went down to 50M from 85M X360.
Series is struggling to get to 30M, since sales are on a rapid decline 3 years into the gen.

Meanwhile, PS4 went 117M from 89M with PS3.
Right now PS5 sold 50+M after 3 years and is (almost) selling faster than PS4 during the same timeframe, despite a pandemic and supply constraints for 2.5 years.
Even gaining more momentum, probably moreso with the MS 3rd party reports/rumors.

Quite telling.

And for me that there in is the problem. You're saying all of this like its all great and nothing to be concerned about. As an XSX owner with a digital library, I simply dont know which way the wind will blow on all this. Uncertainty isnt a great place for me to be with Xbox. So why would I invest anything more into its peripherals or buy anymore digital games? Don't you think leaving consumers with that uncertainty is a shit way of managing them? I do.

Competition huh. Is that why PS5s were at full msrp price $499 while xbox were on firesale at $349 in December? Sony doesn’t view them as competition anymore. They already left them in the dust.

$150 base price tag, are you forgetting about 3rd parties, Nintendo and PC? Plus we already reached $150 with fighting games and their shitty season passes.

A risk you take with any console. If anything, ms has supported the digital library and backwards compatibility and your library (plus cross platform licenses to pc) more than any other console company by a country mile.

Plus, what have they actually left to date?

Yes the third party reports are hurting them, if the plan is to keep selling consoles and bring some other games to other consoles, they should really get in front of that and clarify what's really happening.

I think 30 million final sales for series is a huge lowball coming off a 7 million year. More like similar numbers to xbox one if the stay the course despite your gloom and doom.

Riiiight, because they are making so much money in this industry compared to Apple’s smart phones.

Your missing the point, the skin in the game was massively lower. You can walk away from a tiny investment easily, something they can't do here.
