Final Fantasy XV - Everything we know so far - [Up: Character artwork/descriptions]

They said explicitly over the past five years that XV is designed to be completely different than XIII. You're being completely difficult on purpose despite plenty of evidence.

Look, man. I'm a pessimist. Probably one of the biggest ones on GAF. But you're arguing against five years of Nomura being very open about his intentions and philosophies about the game. The reason it was called Final Fantasy Versus XIII in the first place is because it was designed at the base concept level to be different.

You read like a defensive ff fanboy. You need to understand that i am not being difficult on purpose. All you needed to say was the square is aiming to make this game completely different than xiii lol. Thats all i asked for in the first place, man. Im not trying to attack the game you love. But linearity and a shitty story are two big concerns i have and i remain cautiously optimistic until i see a meaty developer playthrough.

And if you read my posts i have yet to actually post an argument. I asked one question.

Heh. Not a defensive FF fanboy - I hated FFXIII and haven't truly loved a game in the series since IX. I just wanted to make sure you knew that the two were designed to be counter to each other. :p

Great. Just hated that you jumped to conclusions and called me difficult when i never actually maintained or positioned an argument.

Fair enough - sorry if I came off as aggressive. I can be blunt sometimes, especially when work was particularly boring like it was today.

I think you will be surprised by what XV turns out to be though. It really feels like a complete reversal on everything XIII was intended to be. And that's honestly really awesome, because if absolutely nothing designed from or for XIII is ever seen again, I think I would be perfectly happy with that.

Do we know if that teleport ability we saw Noctis using going to be available at all times or just during certain scenes? Because I would imagine programming the entire game around that ability and concept would be rather difficult.
Always, though there are some kind of limitations to it early in the game, Nomura has said not to expect to be doing all kinds of crazy shit from the start, but Noctis will develop his abilities throughout the game.

Some of those guys do have some semblance but they probably weren't who I was thinking of haha.

I wish their breasts were bigger of course but it has no bearing on her importance to me or her role in the game to me. Although their sex appeal can only improve their appeal to me though so its more like a bonus. Like if you liked a piece of cake and you wish that the chef added a little more sugar in it. That's what this is.

Just caught this, now I'm" LMAO, not hating on you though because Tifa is head and shoulders my favorite FF female character.
___________

On the subject of gameplay, each Final Fantasy is virtually different in their gameplay design (even the earlier ones IMO) unless you're putting them in broad sub-genre labels so I don't know why anyone would expect different this time. It really depends on preference and which FF(s) gives you that.

Pretty much the game im looking for :)

Is it at least a render target or they're just lying?

I guess lying is not the right word since they stated it has CG, but misleading at least.
It's what they are aiming the finalized game to look like and are basing it on what they think they can achieve with the hardware they've worked with so far.

They actually just brought him back in 2011 for the PSP remake of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. I'm sure he'd be open to it if they asked him.

Ah, I missed that one on the list somehow. Just have to hope they ask him then although they may just go with their own translation teams.

I wonder what the difficulty will be like, I mean what was truly the last challenging Final Fantasy? XIII did a nice measure of challenge to it though I found it to be up and down throughout the game with a bunch of difficulty spikes rather than consistent. One thing I hope is that Nomura will show a little love to the gameplay junkies (being an ARPG and all) and put some special challenge modes or optional challenges in the game.

Then again, I guess you could argue that FF as a franchise (other than III, good lord) have always been on the easy side since gameplay has traditionally taken a backseat to plot.

Didnt kingdom hearts always have strong addtional bosses? So I wouldnt worry too much in that regard.

I think the mani. Story will be easy ride, but with many difficult additional bosses.

Strong is an understatement. KH always had cheapass additional bosses. Ones in BbS take the cake though.

We can already see it to a degree in the announcement trailer where the meter below Noctis' HP bar goes down partly when he teleports.

I'm still very much interested in how they'll be handling leveling up though. More like Kingdom Hearts where you gain abilities as you level or could they be tied perhaps to weapons equipped with an AP system?

There's the possibility they might put in difficulty modes as KH had them, though since this is FF that may end up not being the case. I'd like there to be a good challenge though with some bonus enemies that really test your skills and ability to work between the characters.

Well to be fair .i would rather face a boss that easely wipes the floor with me even at level 90+ then having a boss with ridiculous health and turn into a borring chore

#ステラ格好回復 anyone?

I really want her old look back. :(

Okay I get that us the community affect games and the industry. But there's a point where we need to back off and not be so nitpicky. This is one of those times. Let them team make the game THEY want to make. If your still upset about it AFTER you have played the game then you can let them know.

All you and I have seen is a character render. (And from what we gather the renders for a lot of the characters have big differences with their in game counterparts)

Wait until you see her in a video or in motion. At this point you are prematurely complaining about a new design for a character you haven't seen in motion or in practice with her new design.

I liked her old look, but I like her new look better

You have no taste. w

Not that I mind her look now, it's just that Kagari's avatar will hunt me forever is all.

Oi, why so aggressive? I like her now too, but her previous model seemed more mature and appropriate for what kind of game they were making. I know I'll like her however she ends up looking. ^^'

Yeah I can only speak for Kingdom Hearts 1 and I remember Sephiroth creamed me pretty bad the first couple of times so maybe more of that lol.

Yeah I'm" hoping that they have something in there that'll really push you and forces you to get creative to win; I found XIII's superbosses to be underwhelming. There are better ways IMO to make a challenging and rewarding superboss without resorting to inane amounts of HP.

People have said this, yet I continue not to see what having a younger appearance has to do with how they would have her carry herself. Unless I'm to believe that they plan on completely changing her role or personality as a result, as some with this issue seem to fear?

I feel like we should probably wait til we see her new model in action before we start begging for the old one.

Even with her new model, her and Noctis still look like an extremely cute couple. Please explore this, Nomura.

It's extremely frustrating to see two people who clearly like each other but the story doesn't do anything with it. This is the case with Sora and Kairi in Kingdom Hearts. I just hope Nomura doesn't do the same in XV with Noctis and Stella.

Edit:
But with this game having extreme Shakespearean inspirations, I don't think it can be avoided and must be expanded upon.

I feel like a Final Fantasy VIII or X style romance would be out of place in Kingdom Hearts, a tad to childish for anything substantial. Sora needs to kiss Kairi at the end of 3 or something though. Seeing how XV is supposed to be mature and realistic, it would only make sense to have some sort of romance aspect.

Noctis and Stella likely have the near death experience during the scene where they're running through the field as kids. For whatever reason, years later they don't remember each other and reconnect at the peace treaty party. They somehow develop a relationship but are forced to fight each other since I'd assume their respective kingdoms see this power as an advantage.

As far as we know only Noctis and Stella have this gift. That ties them together, a romance has to spawn from this.

With KH, there's no place for it really. The focus is on the heartless and not really much about character growth. This has been the case for all KH games with the exception of BbS protags and Riku. There is no growth in the relationship in respect to Sora and Kairi as a result. It's been set in stone that they like each other but because it's not essential to the plot for them to move forward, they won't. It wouldn't fit.

Oh that's what I was thinking. I wasn't thinking a mature romance. I was thinking "Disney princess romance". Which is interesting because all the other "princesses of heart" had their kissing moment.

This is totally innocent from my end and I want nothing more. I just think Sora deserves at least a peck on the cheek for saving the world and Kairi so many times.

Now for FINAL FANTASY XV, I agree. Something must come of this. Final Fantasy "love" stories are great for their respective titles and actually help get you attached to characters. We will have to see when these two games come out.

Are you sure we are playing the same Kingdom Hearts games? It's been touched upon in the games a lot. It's touched upon in 1 and 2. They share a moment at the end of BbS. It's clearly trying to take the relationship somewhere. They are just taking forever to get to that point.

I am not talking about a make-out session. I am talking about something that would solidify there relationship as "more" then just friends. Every princess in Disney movie had their kissing scene. Heck it's in even a few of the KH games.

You just don't establish a start of a relationship like that where it "feels" like they share a much closer bond then being friends and then do nothing with it. It's totally innocent and pure if done right. And they should do it because that's what a lot of fans are waiting for when it comes to Kairi and Sora. For them to actually use actions instead of words to define that relationship.

Usually, with superbosses it comes down to HP and being really strong to the point getting hit at all is a danger. Having ones where they have tricks that you either have to be prepared to counter or simply be able to dodge would be nice to see I think. We need to see more of the battle system though before I think we can really start thinking about what kinds of bonus bosses they could make that would be good.

I still expect to see ones that are just really strong with tons of HP though.

Agreed in a sense. Didn't VII do this to a degree with Cloud and Tifa as well? I mean, it was clear they liked each other but I wasn't sure anything really came of it. I recall being rather confused about what their relationship was in AC and it bugged me a bit. I could see them going a similar route with Noctis and Stella by making it clear they like each other but perhaps not doing anything about it.

I sometimes wonder if we're overblowing the Shakespeare inspirations.

Is this confirmed? About the not remembering each other thing that is as I am inclined to agree that whatever the near death experience was happened when they were together as children.

I wonder if there was anything intended between them as children by their respective parents such as being betrothed.

I kinda think the whole not remembering thing will be from Noctis, while Stella will be the one that remembers him

This older than the bible screen grab still has the most swagged out team ever.

Me too. They weren't oversaturated with blackness and clothes that try to look modern but are very much flamboyant still. Up above is realistic to a sense and would of been better if Nomura wants a more grounded type game.

Just saw the gameplay trailer for the first time...im really not sure what i watched to be honest. Battles look like advent children which is cool and makes sense but i need the developers to make sense of what i just saw.

Edit: music sounds like KH. I know yoko is doing the music but it sounds like she straight took some motifs from that game. I could have sworn i heard parts of destati .

Probably, but it is a case of a production with Nojima and Nomura concerning the story so we could possibly look to it for indications.

If that's true at all that one of them doesn't remember the other, which I'm not clear on exactly.

Love the music so far in the announcement trailer and gameplay trailer.

In the annoucement trailer: The epic scenes starting from 2:45, flashing character pics, and the building falling apart along with the music accumulated to my mind blowing at 3:15. Good stuff :)

It wasn't confirmed or anything, but they at least don't seem close during the party. We'd have to see how Stella talks to other people, but the way she speaks to him is very polite.

Ah, alright then. Maybe they haven't seen each other since they were kids so he doesn't recognize her?

So, Nomura said the 4 great nations in the world are Lucis, Niflheim, Solheim, and Accordo. There will also be other cities and villages throughout the world, but these are the big four. Lucis is based on Tokyo, and Accordo is based on Venice. I wonder what the cities of Niflehim and Solheim will look like... Quick, anyone know which interesting cities Nomura has visited on business? :p

So Lucis isn't that watery city after all.

I hope one of those cities is based on Barcelona, that would be amazing for the FF universe. Or maybe Istanbul.

Or maybe Tenebrae isn't a nation, but just a city in one of the four countries...

So we have metropolitan city and Renaissance Europe. Nifihelm seems to imply an icy and watery nation, and the other one I'm gonna guess something with greens and plains.
