Lol... No more Troy Baker and Laura Bailey...I think we need some new voice actors. Can't have every company use the same people all the time.

And I think VOs are paid by session so the cost of using 5 actors for 5 roles and 1 actor for 5 roles would cost roughly the same.

Stella= Serah and Black Haired Woman= Kaine?

Hey, saving a few pennies adds up over time.

And I was thinking Lust(Full Metal Alchemist) not Kaine but whatever.

You got a point. Then Dan Southworth would be great for Cor Leonis.

Southworth? His voice is way too shrill for someone as built as Cor. Dude is talented, but I can't see him working as Cor at all.

In all honesty, and all jokes aside, I could see Nolan North voicing Cor with his 'serious voice'.

Yuri is gonna be Noctis, they're gonna go full blown Sasuke.

pls don't do this Square

Well, they have a lot in common.

They got the Sharingan. Got similar hair. Both got a group of flunkies (Team Noct and Team Snake/Hawk/whatever he's calling them nowadays).

Nolan North would be cool as long as he doesn't go Nathan Drake on us.

I think Noctis could work in a Yuri from Vesperia kind of way, but if anyone in the cast, I do think Baker would best fit Cor; Cor even looks like him.

I still think Gladiolus fits the Troy Baker archetype to a T. Cor could definitely work too, but I'm just sensing a Snow-bro vibe from Gladio.

Noctis is probably going to be voiced by a relative unknown to video game voice acting, I would have to assume. They're not going to pick someone who's really common in games and anime already to play him, at least.

Nolan North would be cool as long as he doesn't go Nathan Drake on us.

Indeed. Nolan can get really serious if he needs to, and his vocal range is really diverse. If they asked him to, he could easily nail a character like Cor.

Who's Troy Baker and Yuri Lowenthal going to voice

Gladio - Troy Baker
Eccentric looking villain/Ignis - Liam O'Brien
Cor Leonis - Whoever voiced Malik in Tales of Graces
Noctis - JYB
Prompto - Yuri Lowenthal
Stella - Serah's voice

Now that I think about it a bit more, I think Sam Riegel might end up voicing Noctis, especially if Liam O'Brien's production company ends up handling the voice casting and direction. His voice sounds young enough for the role, but he isn't nearly as overwhelmingly common in video game protagonists as Bosch or Lowenthal.

The issue for me is, I literally can't see any jaggies in some of the combat segments in the trailer, whereas they are evident in the gameplay trailer.

If you're worried about the conference trailer, don't. Any 'gameplay' shown there is going to be touched up for the hype factor. Stick to the gameplay trailer instead - they released it for a reason.

Oh please God no! This should never be suggested ever again. I can't believe someone would think of something so fiendish.

I know it's a joke but still those are all terrible choices.

Stella - Serah's voice

Laura Bailey? I am not sure I'd be fine with that. We don't really know much about Stella I guess, but, going through my mind with all the voices I've heard Bailey as none of them seem like a match up with what I'd expect from Stella.

Like, the voice of Rise or Chun-li coming out of Stella seems like a horrible fit as does Serah, or even her deeper voices like Jaina and what she used in Saints Row 3.

I actually like Laura Bailey a lot but I don't think any voice I've ever heard her as would fit Stella.

Oh but I want to so, so badly.

Just believe Kagari!!! With XIII it was Toriyama. We placed our faith in the wrong director. This is Nomura we are talking about. He's never steered us wrong. Just believe.

What happened to you Kagari. You used to be so full of hope for FFXV(Versus)....

Edit:
Plus it was easy to tell early on that wasn't gameplay in XIII. XV on the other hand...

You poor soul.

Also, Haley Joel Osment for Noctis. We can't ignore the parallels here.

Or you know, they could pull of an actual all-star casting for XV (like what they did to KH) like Mandy Moore = Stella, Justin Bieber = Prompto, Zac Efron = Noctis, Liam Neeson = Cor.

Also.. please no.

This is actually something that has confused me for the longest time. Square always gets big names for voices in KH, even in the handheld titles (Hamill and Nimoy) but none of the other games. I wonder if that is a Disney thing or what, it's so weird.

On that topic though, I'd be pretty alright with Liam Neeson voicing a character in 15 :3

Disney has an effect on the casting in the KH games. That being said, Nomura himself went after Nimoy and Hamill, as he wrote those parts specifically for those two actors. I suspect Nomura might be a bit pickier when it comes to voice actors than we might known.

In that case, I don't see why Nomura can't just go for the Harry Potter cast. I thought he was a fan?

Because they're really expensive and probably not a good fit for this game? He specifically picked Nimoy and Hamill because he wanted to do Star Wars vs. Star Trek but also play with audience expectations re: the voices.

You think Nimoy and Hamill are cheap?

I wasn't thinking the main trio anyway. For instance, Gary Oldman and Alan Rickman would be pretty good for Noctis' father and the old baddie.

Why do you think I'm sticking with this avatar?
I know. She's the perfect combination of sexiness and badassery. ;_;

I hope Stella is like tsundere cute voiced like Cheria.

I bet the black haired lady will be all sexy voiced like Lust with sadomasochistic tendencies.

As much as I liked the original XIII cast (I like pretty much everything, BTW), this would just not fit, at all. At least it wouldn't fit with her past look. XD

I think you mean Justin Bieber = Stella.
Well, that would be quite... something...

As long as they offer dual audio, I'm happy.

Failing that, get the team that did Xenoblade.
I'm at the point where I think that we will never get something like that in a FF game. There's just a lot of CG where they would have to have 2 files for every scene in both languages, and that takes up space. I don't think they'll bother, unfortunately...

FFXIII_fire.jpg

The final results for ingame graphics were not that different at all from this target render (for many aspects even better). The gameplay changed though, so the animations with it. If that's what you were implying... as a target render, I must say worked perfectly because they more or less reached what they shown us with the final product. That's why I trust XV's E3 trailer.

Oh, also I think the whole "we're already planning sequels" bit also deflated my excitement somewhat.

You really thought XIII-2 and LR were some crazy ideas of the evil-Toriyama and not an insight at the future of the series forced by producers, investors and CEO? No developer can afford anymore what Squaresoft and Square Enix tried years ago. Every single main entry from now on will spoil always prequels, sequels and spinoffs from the start. And if that means I get more games from this series (like one major title per year), I'm GLAD they went for this.

Normally I'd agree, but it didn't even look like the Japanese audio is properly lip-synced in the trailer.

I can understand why people want big names attached to the game, but I think we have more than enough evidence that shows that the audio direction at S-E is really lacking [Japanese localized titles, not their western studios that have really nailed voice acting in the last few years].

In part this is because the script for these games is hard to localize. Nomura writes his stories without any regard for how they translate out of his native language, but it's also because I believe the direction their actors are given is just plain poor. FFXIII had a lot of very good voice actors delivering terrible performances. I hope that with the brand tarnished in recent years, S-E will take this process seriously - rather than hope their core audience forgives another 60hrs of cringe worthy dialogue.

I wasn't paying attention to this, but if that's the case, they will most definitely fix it until release. If there's anything they're good at, it's that.

Nothing applies to everything forever. We'll just have to see.

Nor should he care. It is the translators' job to make the game shine in that regard. See Ni No Kuni.

Agreed, it should be fixed. Normally S-E are great on the lip sync and it was a little jarring to see CGI cutscenes without sync.

But I do feel like you are dramatically over estimating what a translator can do. The MGS series has made an almost seemless transition to the West because native English speakers are brought into the audio/visual portion of development. Cutscenes and dialogue are judged on what feels natural to both audiences, not what feels natural to one at the expense of another.

Take KH as an example. Cutscenes are designed purely with the Japanese audio here, which results in unnatural reaction shots and unnatural silence between a lot of lines. I just wish, ya know, they would improve in this regard. It would help them appeal to a larger audience, rather than asking their current audience to forgive broken dialogue delivery.

So they have broken dialogue delivery in the native language instead?

I see what you mean, but they can't please everybody. That is, if they can afford to go the extra mile of making it fit in both languages, good, but otherwise I won't mind, and neither should you. XV will be good anyway.

I'm looking forward to more info about the black-haired girl. She looks like a good character, and if they can give her a great role and personality, it'll be interesting. :D

I'm not sure how they are mutually exclusive?

I'll mind, but as long as they get better it's all good.

Back on topic, I love the new bios. First FF I've actually been intrigued about the characters more than the world they inhabit.

I love the bios as well, and I'm really happy with how diverse they've managed to make the characters background stories. From Prompto who is the only one not really belonging in the circle of nobles, to Cor who doesn't really care for any of them but keeps an eye on Noctis because of his loyalty to the king.

I can't wait to see the dialogue and interactions of this group! :)

It's not a matter of different/better screenwriting. What you're asking for is for them to tailor the cinematics and direction for each region.

Your talking about one extreme to another extreme, though to be fair I haven't played MGS2-4 in Japanese and so wouldn't know how different the cutscenes were in runtime. I would guess that if there were any changes, it would be very minimal.

What I'd like them do is better tailor the original script and follow localisation though the production process so that tone, pacing and quality is matched in both Japanese and English. It takes a lot of work to do that, but it's what people should expect from a AAA rated studio like S-E
