Sources tell Variety that the two actors who have emerged as front-runners to land the title role in the superhero feature are Joseph Gordon Levitt and Paul Rudd. Insiders say there is still a possibility another actor could emerge but as of now, Gordon-Levitt and Rudd are the main contenders the role.

Marvel recently moved up the release date of the comic-book feature to July 31, 2015 and Wright, following his vacation, tweeted Ann pre-production photo of the Ant-Man character, which has since reignited the anticipation that an actor would be attached shortly.

The two choices are certainly interesting. Wrights appears to want more of a normal looking actor for the role with some sort of wise-cracking personality rather than a beefed up action hero like Chris Hemsworth or Chris Evans.

Sources indicate the two are expected to meet with Marvel execs and Wright one more time before a decision is made and that there’s also a possibility of one more actor being added into the mix.

I want Rudd.

Marvel is really excelling with the casting in their movies. Somehow they managed to gather awesome crowd for GOTG, Avengers2 is getting great names and now Ant-Man.


If they pick either of those two for Pym, I would be happy.

JGL should stay away as he was in Batman and honestly don't rate him highly, Rudd does not suit Pym at all or a scientist for that matter.

I would go with someone like Patrick Wilson, Jai Courtney, Aaron Paul, Alexander Skarsgard or Damian Lewis.

Although obviously they are going the comedic route again, maybe it will turn out he was actually a stand up comic that faked his way into a science lab and tripped over some chemicals to become Ant-Man.

Patrick Wilson! Yes! My choice is a little too old though and that's Aaron Eckhart. JGL would do fine fitting the good-looking, egotistical, scientist though. Rudd could be Scott Lang, but I'm not sure why Lang would be older than Pym.
